So I went ahead and redid the blue sword, in the lightning effect style, and I like it more,

THEN I realised that Nemisis Force Weapons, ARE FORCE weapons, which I typically paint in purples...so I had to try it,

So, what day you? Green, Blue or Purple?

I throw my lot in with team purple, seems the most striking.

Little slow going, but I'm iterating on a new method for doing the red to speed things up, need to subject these guys to Matt varnish to see how they fare. I think I need to lay off the storm host drybrush though, makes em too shiny.

Would it be too disjointed to have the different colours associated to rank/function?

Blue for PA units and Brotherhood Terminators

Green for Paladins

Purple for Characters (GM, Voldus, Librarian etc)?

Like, it represents their strength within the Warp?

It depends on how cohesive the rest of your army looks.

I had experimented with different colored weapons for my armies before, but in my case, it did not work (but my painting has been much less cohesive in the past).

Just try it out. What is there to lose?

This is a nice hobby justification for having some fun with different colours. I suppose it won't affect the look and feel of the entire army, too.

However, if you're looking for a cohesive army, I'd stick to the colours that are closer on the palette (green and blue) or just go with the blue which matches the overall paint scheme best. Having said that, I like the 'cowards' decision:' go with the different colours for different ranks (I know that I did that for my guys)!

And here come my 2 contributions for Nov.:

- Additional Sicarians:

- Kustom Berserk Flying Votann:

More in my Blogs and Galleries:

More Sicarians - AM Not-Stygies - A Blog about building a new Army - The Bolter and Chainsword

U.F.O. 2 - Look who's coming for dinner - Bouargh´s miniatures´ closet clean-up - The Bolter and Chainsword

What will be the next job? I still dunno, atm it is time to apply "range rotation" and go painting some WFB miniatures. More night gobs in perspective -  way to go=120 left (approx).

Yet for December, I anticipate a KT: I have ordered some Navy Breachers to be used with a custom Rogue Trader Retinue (Lady Credo as RT, kit bashed Biophagus & Sanctus for proxy Medic and assassin + a Heretek as the entourage mechyboy). Unless I change my mind.

I'm only about 18 days late on my october vow, but at least it's done.

I won't vow anything for november, instead I'll try and finish a few other marines I started a while ago. I also have something like 40 pairs of eyes waiting for their glowing.

My vow is done:

This also concludes my plodding along vow - all photos (including the group one) can be found in the gallery: https://bolterandchainsword.com/gallery/album/17908-blackstone-fortress-heroes-by-madao/

Well after not touching a paintbrush for the best part of three weeks for various reasons, I got re-set yesterday, Final running lights added to complete the xiphons and gathered up a November target: 6 SA guys, I'm finding the command guys a massive drag compared to the normal troops, so really de-motivated to add a second tercio when they are needed part, also a bunch of odd bits to get the dracosan finished

Would you mind reposting these? I don't have a VPN on the phone and all I get is a blue background and 'Content not viewable in your region.'

Finalised the Primarisized Grey Knight test model,

The most tedious part of the Terminator conversions is cutting the hip-plates and knee-wing-thingys from the original legs without destroying them,

So I'm considering a Group project thing as a sub-event for next years 12MoH, and would like to gauge interest.

I have two ideas.

The first is a back-burner idea I've had since.....8th? Ed.? I think.  Basically it would be a Chaos Daemons Army, that is actually modelled and painted as LotD, and termed Codex: Angels of the Emperor OR The Emperor's Angels of Death OR Imperial Nephilim.

Over the 12 months, the challenge would be for each participant to take one Index / Codex Daemons entry and choose an Imperial Unit (Astartes, Sisters, Guard etc) to model for it, and then re-word the Data-card with Imperial language, but not actually altering the rules (to ensure balance remains), and paint at least one of these models to suit a "ghostly warrior" theme.

For Example: Thunderwolf Cavarly to replace Juggernaughts of Khorne, or Repentia to replace Daemonettes, and so on.

The second idea, is a little more involved. I guess the end result would be a Kill Team of 10 Models. It would be a narative type event, similar to 2020's Reclaimation of the Inviolate Rage 12MoH Campaign (Summary HERE), which featured a Hex-based map to explore and fight over. This time rather than Armies and loads of models, each month would feature a particular "Operative", one month would be a Comms model, another a ranged specialist, another a Heavy Weapons model and so on. January would be for choosing your Factiona and prepping a roster, Feb would be choosing starting positions, March would see the first model completed, with one each month til December.

Each Faction would have Lore themed Buff, extra Defense for Nurgle, extra movement for Eldar, stuff like that. It would be themed inside a Hive City. Each participant would have a fixed number of "Actions" per month, with each Badge earning additional Actions. I haven't yet decided if Actions will be banked for future months, or expire monthly. There will be Objectives to complete, place to loot and so on. The Map, movements etc will all bt public, I don't think I can maintain that many PM's this time (2020 Campaign have Faction PMs).

An idea I'm toying with is each Participant will be PM'd a private mission, that is Lore / Faction inspired.

So what say you, do either of these ideas work? Which one interests you more?

ALSO, also, 12MoH will be run as a Club in 2026, I've already confirmed with BroT that we will have it pinned here at the top of the WIP Forum, so ease of access will be the same as all previous years of the Challenge.

Both ideas sound promising, but on a personal level, I'd be more interested in participating in the second, maybe with my last chancers vowed as a plogging along vow that I didn't touch at all this year...

Sound job on him and that power fist with the weapon looks interesting.

I am curious about the nameplate on the base. Could you tell me more?

The designer did the nameplate and his 30k model has the same weapon its just a different fist its more like the Solarite Gauntlets.

I, Arkley, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of November pledge to complete 1 Red Scorpion Apothecary Biologis by month's end.

I am more partial to the second idea, the big campaing in 2020 was an interesting experiance, if a bit overwelming, I still don't know how you manged to stay sane that year.

However a LotD flavoured project also sounds of interest.

I just finished my second vow for the Jokaero challenge as well as 6 Genestealer hybrids (which I will just proxy as normal Genestealers).

I had been sick with another cold this week, so I am happy that I was able that I could use the "sick at home time" wisely with a blanket and lots of hot tea.

I will be back here as soon as I have made up my mind as to what my vow will be for December.

I would personnaly be more inclined for the first one, but, let's be frank, I will probably not enlist, neither in first nor in second .

I have struggled over the past months to populate my pledge rooster in 40/30k stuff already and my 2026 load will probably be even more WFB oriented than this year due to a serious backlog that deserves being worked out after 15 years in the shadows... (probably something like a total sum of 20k Pts between Chaos warriors, High Elves and Empire, that are waiting to be done/redone and legalized plus a tail of 120 gobs at least that I wanted to do this year but will probably not start until end of January).

So my 12MoH 2026 will mainly be minimum service for 40k.

Great move.

Sorry I overlooked this.

Since I still have 5 different Kill Teams in various stages of completion (2 of them still fresh in the unopened box), I think a Kill Team challenge would be something I am interested in. I actually think my 30k Night Lord Team ( assembled and primed and then forgotten on the shelf) might fit this perfectly. This might give me the motivation to work on them.

EDIT- or I make something work with the accumulated masses of Inquisition operatives collecting dust here.... there are options.

Since I will be away for the weekend (my local diving club will be visiting Germany's largest indoor diving center featuring a sunken city and even a sunken boat), I will make my December vow early.

I got another parcel today (I really need to stop buying new things before finishing everything else sitting around here!):

2411RavenersTeam.jpg.1a6b0c3b3093b23c89bc0cdfa74a17bd.jpg

Therefore....

I, Valkia the Bloody, vow for the month of December to finish painting one Swarmlord and a Kill Team of Tyranid Raveners.
