Ask away, it may be something I haven't considered

The main thing I am curious about is we are pledging to a faction for the campaign. So say I pledge for Chaos Space Marines, we don't really have much in the way of COMMS or MEDIC. Would I be able to paint a standard Space Marine apothecary, a Death Guard plague surgeon or an Imperial Guard medic? Are we looking for a cohesive Kill Team or can the models come from different armies? I am more than happy to kit bash to fit the mold, but I wasn't sure if we had to end with a legitimate Kill Team. One final question, for now at least, once again say I pledge for Chaos Space Marines, could I kit bash a legal Space Marine Scout kill team as Chaos Scouts?

Rule of Cool, all the way, the finished Squad does NOT have to be a legal Kill Team  ("legal" Kill Teams will be valid too).

Apothecary bits grafted onto a Chaos Marine, or a Plague Surgeon, or a Cultist Medicae are all viable way to show the "Medic", even adding just the red Apothercary symbol (either painted on or a decal) to a Chaos Marine would work too.

For Comms, an extended aerial on the powerpack or helm, or an Auspex with an enlongated antenae would also work.

For Demo, grenades, melta bombs etc will all be acceptable.

For purposes of Factions, the Commander Unit will determine which Faction's Secret Agenda will apply.

Awesome! One last question about Chaos and Loyal Marines. Chaos has the god aligned legions and Space Marines have the different chapters. Will Chaos/Loyal Marines have be using any of their sub factions or will they be a super faction? Like if I decide to do Death Guard or Black Templars will those count as Chaos/Loyal Marines or be their own factions since they have each have a codex/codex supplement? I've got a bunch of ideas in my head currently so just trying to narrow things down if that makes sense.

Thank you for clearing this up.

I too would do one of my Kill Teams I have already here, which is either the Fellgor Ravagers (Chaos Beastmen), one of the 2 Night Lord Kill Teams (the  Nemesis Claw or the already assembled 30k converted Legionaries) or the Mandrakes- all of these are not really into healing and communication. Well, the Legionary Butcher could be a "pathologist"- not really good at putting people back together, but VERY good at taking them apart.... and the Nemesis Claw Ventriloquist is all about communication, isn't he? After all, he talks through reanimated dead corpses. At least the 30k Marines have a communication backpack which I added because it looked cool.

I am mainly looking for a way to motivate myself to get all these guys painted- right now, all they do is collect dust. I do not really feel like getting another kill team specifically just for the challenge, one of my already acquired ones will have to do.

Each Participant's Squad will be working independently, towards their Faction Secret Agenda, and competing against others of the same Faction.

The Factions are (generally) specified by the main sub-forums on the main page

So, ALL Loyal Astartes have the same Agenda, except the Deathwatch and Grey Knights who have unique ones.

All Heretic Astartes have the same Agenda, Daemons and Renegades and Traitors have different ones.

And my final legio mini is done.

Here's brother Heraclite. Former Ultramarine, founding member of the ultima founding void cuirassiers. Originally of the first company of the Void Cuirassiers and now a legio bolter and chainsword herald

Today, I finished my December vow of 1 Swarmlord and 5 Raveners, plus several objective markers as well as a ripper swarm attacking the mini of the month (Deathwatch marine).

Until the end of the year, I will be plotting along and work on some gaunts, but since I work during the holiday period and also have family commitments, no idea if I will get anything more finished. I will carry over my half-finished Tyranid army as well as everything on my shelves of shame over to the next year 2026- I hope, I can keep my motivation up this time.

Happy Holidays everyone

With just 7 days left in the year, HERE'S a linky to the 2026 Monthly Threads for anyone looking to get a jump on the new year.

Thank you @Grotsmasha and @Firedrake Cordova for running the event again. It was another great one. Great job to everyone who participated! Hope to see you all in next year's 12 Months of Hobby! Hoping to complete the 8 cultists for my plodding along but we'll see with the holidays.

Thank you both for all the hard work running this. A monumental effort. My output fizzled out in the summer unfortunately but I was very grateful to have a favourite vote from Firedrake for the Breachers. Definitely one of those squads that you don’t want to zoom in on, so very surprised and happy.

Everyone’s models have been amazing as usual - well done and everyone have a very Merry Christmas!

Well with my year somewhat falling a part in more ways then one and my not touching a paint brush in six months I haven't been here on the forum like I have in the past.  This is the first year since the Tale of Hobbyists started that I have not completed a month, and indeed gone several months without pledging.

Between free time becoming a premium, other more 'productive' hobbies, my ability to game disappearing and my mental health being in the pits all year it hasn't been a great year for me.  Even the steps I took with a new job etc haven't helped, with the issues following me.

Still I am hoping to exert some control of what things I can have a say in and my hobby is one of them.  Going to attempt a bit of a clean up for half finished projects from the earlier in the year to begin with, liekly getting in to that early next year.  But for now I've commited to the Boxing Day Bash so I may as well drop in in here as well,

I, Brother Argent, vow to complete one Hellblaster by Months end.

large.Hellblaster.jpg.bef5fb91608a6a8dc4

And a huge thank you to the guys whom have ran this event this year, and to all you painting models.  The universe isn't such a bad place to be lost in, if you have someone to help hold the light.

large.HellblasterAfter.jpg.7c80fe5dcb8c8

And done.  At least I'll finish the year on a positive note after the last few months...

Thanks again Grot and Co.  Hope to make next year a better year...

I should also add my Boxing Day Bash model her,

The Kytan is done and I'm hoping for a couple more before the end of the year. We will see however.

I repeat myself, but in all seriousness, this is one of the best conversions I have seen lately.

Well, contrary to my belief, I did indeed manage to finish another unit in the past few days.

I am really glad I decided on this quick and easy paint-scheme (plus, it does not look half bad).

Here is a unit of Termagaunts which I finished today:

This means I have finished 2/3 of my planned Tyranid army already, in just around 3.5 months!

I am amazed how much motivation I had.

I think it is time for a glory-shot- here are the already finished Tyranid models on my Xenos shelf (ignore the Necrons), all Tyranids built and painted in the past few months of 2025:

Probably not finishing anything else before the end of the month from the list, so here's where we ended.

Hey @Grotsmasha, I've got a question about next year, in reference to the Plodding Along vows. Can I make both vows in the beginning of the year, even if I plan on completing one in the first six months and the second getting completed sometime in the last six months? I have most of a 2k army of Votann that I will be speed-painting in the first couple of months next year and want to use them as Plodding Along, but I also have a Word Bearers/Night Lords project that will take quite a bit longer that I want to vow early so I can do a few models here and there, but don't expect them to be fully completed for quite a while.

Yeah, that's fine  The two plodding along rule came into being due to  abuse (someone was vowing Plodding Along EVERY month, then completing it).
