So I've been away form teh hobby quite a while.... still been buying models I liked, but just never getting past the build phase.

I decided last week I need to get SOMETHING painted.  I had just gotten the 30K Mechanicum heavy support box and the pile'o'shame was at the tipping point.   I finally decided on Ryza, as I don't see a TON of that around.  So here are the first two pieces at a 90%ish completion point:

Now, the Krios is less then 90%, simply because it is completely magnetized on the main weapon and the other 2 arent' even started past the base coat.

I'm really not sure how I want to do the treads.  Both need weathering, and weathering terrifies me.

Looks like you're off to a good start.

For weathering the tracks/treads, you could use weathering pigments. If you apply them dry, you can simply brush/blow them off if you don't like how it looks, before you "set" the pigments with binder.

HObby butterfly sets in.  WIP of a few Deathwatch/Azuredrakes...

Need to work on my lighting.  That Black is waaay darker then in actuality

I really like the terminator armor with the standard helmet. These all look great!

Soooo.... butterfly syndrome strikes again.  I had some grey knights bits and some of the new push-fit terminators.....  That all equals out to a very distracted me.

Side note... what heavy weapons are best on Paladins?  IW as thinking Incinerators to clear out weak units or Psycannons to help knock wounds off the big stuff.... Thoughts?

Soooo, I need some recommendations.  I'm not very familiar with teh vasious demon/greater demon/demon prince kits.  Anyone have any suggestions for bits to convert teh 'Nid on the base to a demon of some sort?

Can you show a better picture of the nid bits in question?  I converted nid bits into chaos ones for my defiler kitbash, so I may be able to help if I have a better idea of what you are working with.

ITs just the leviathan captains base... the screamer killer that is a part of it.  I used that captain as the basis for the brother captain there in the front.

That's what I thought, I'm just not super familiar as to the details of the dead thing on the base - hence was hoping for a better picture.  So, after a quick google search:

1.  The biggest part of making something not look like a tyranid is removing the distinctively tyranid features like fleshy vents and such.  So, that means the three small raised rings just in front of the raised armour by the guy's foot, plus any other such features you might find.  You could remove the rings, or make small spikes/horns coming out of them.

2.  There is no consistent look for the 4 factions of demons - as an army, they are more of a theme than a group of similar looking models.  So, best to choose a chaos god and look to that god's demons for inspiration - personally, I think Khorne is the best match, but nurgle might work as well.

3.  If you want to create a more god agnostic demon, adding trim to the armour plates definitely makes it look more chaos, though none of the GW demon models (except the demon prince) really have trim.  That's what I did on the arms of my defiler.

4.  That wierd cheek armour of the screamer killer (the raised armour by the model's foot) is very distinctive to that model - I would convert it into a broken horn.  Chaos horns come in all types, but there are a couple that are quite untyranid - one is ribbed (like the bottom centre guy in this picture) or of the horn pushing through the armour or skin - can't seem to find a picture of that.

5.  If you do go khorne, the demons don't have trim, but do have symbols in the middle of the plates - you might do something like what this guy has on his greaves.

None of this requires and bits per se, its more a matter of greenstuff and plasticard.
