I know what you mean. The irritating thing is that the Defender doesn't seem to have particularly enticing rules. I think that using it to block LOS is going to be harder than it sounds, particularly on boards with tournament terrain.

Getting the sprue is also often a pain because you normally need the gun arm from the basic kit so unless you have already magnetised some, you lack a donor body. I ran into this problem when I tried to make a Preceptor from just the sprue and I ended having to buy various extra arm parts just to make it feasible.

It's bizarre that they've managed to swing and miss on both the new imperial and chaos knight variant as the ruinator is also quite poor.

As far as I am concerned, it is still a pity that a new knight tlike that is coming with rules that make it the most non sense kind of knight to be considered as an allied choice... But buying a kit only to get the sprue and customize other kind of questoris chassis knights to look like any AdMech pets still looks like a plausible option... But mainly because the two boxes cost the same and that most other options are included... Sad to say that buying a Defender box on purpose of NOT building a defender might be a serious case.

Yes, it looks like you have to pay for the Preceptor or Defender Sprue, regardless of whether you want one. Maybe we will see a few more on eBay.

That or bitz sites, the Las-impulsar is 3/4 parts (two for the gun, then the battery pack/cords) that fit onto the gun arm with the Thermal plate. IIRC the multi laser is 2 parts as well, the gun and a custom shield for it. That is of course if you want the multi laser in the first place.
