Been a lore fan for a while, but I'm about to have more free time and disposable income so I decided to try my hand at designing a playable 2000-point 10e army. I experimented a bit with ChatGPT but decided I needed human help.

I tend to like a methodical play style in strategy games, so I've been toying for a while with a siege warfare theme, and eventually came up with a Loyalist Iron Warriors schism that I dubbed the Adamant Repenters (story-wise, originally formed from defectors post-Isstvan V).

I'm still new to the ruleset, but I can tell enough that I want to use the Ironstorm Spearhead detachment because armor and artillery. Current list:

  • HQ:
    • Techmarine (55pt) - Warlord (Forge-Captain Ofentse Malewezi, CO, 3rd Grand Company)
    • Captain in Gravis Armor (80pt)
    • Chaplain (60pt)
  • Battleline:
    • Intercessor Squad (10 models, 160pt) - 1 grenade launcher, sgt w/ bolt rifle and thunder hammer
    • Heavy Intercessor Squad (10 models, 220pt) - 2 w/ heavy bolter
    • Hellblaster Squad (5 models, 115 pt)
  • Elites:
    • Redemptor Dreadnought (215 pt)
    • Terminator Squad (5 models, 170pt) - sgt with Cyclone missile launcher and power weeapon
    • Bladeguard Veteran Squad (6 models, 160 pt) - sgt with plasma pistol
  • Heavy Support:
    • Predator Annihilator (135 pt) (economizing down from the suggestion of a Gladiator Valiant)
    • Devastator Squad (5 models, 120 pt)
    • Whirlwind (190 pt)
    • Vindicator (185 pt)
  • Transport:
    • Impulsor (80 pt)

Leaves 55 points free for enhancements.

Made a variety of refinements on another forum.

  • HQ:
    • Techmarine (55pt)
    •  Lieutenant (65 pt) w/ plasma pistol & power weapon
    • Judiciar (70 pt)
  • Battleline:
    • 2x Intercessor Squad (5 models, 160pt) - 1 grenade launcher, sgt w/ bolt rifle and thunder hammer
    • Heavy Intercessor Squad (10 models, 220pt) - 2 w/ heavy bolter
    • Hellblaster Squad (10 models, 230 pt) - attached Lieutenant
  • Elites:
    • Redemptor Dreadnought (215 pt)
    • Terminator Squad (5 models, 170pt) - sgt with Cyclone missile launcher and power weapon
    • In Impulsor (80 pt): Bladeguard Veteran Squad (6 models, 160 pt) - sgt with plasma pistol, attach Judiciar
  • Heavy Support:
    • Gladiator Valiant (160 pt)
    • Whirlwind (190 pt)
    • Vindicator (185 pt)

I like theme lists! and your Adamant Repenters idea sounds very cool.

So ya know... I play with buddies. We all want to win but it's casual and style is also important in our games. If you are gonna play at an event I can't claim any expertise in decrypting the current meta so take that as you will.

Actions!

If you are gonna play the current missions you will prob want to have some action monkeys. Maybe 3 small squads of intercessors instead of a big blob? (I've been trying this out in a similarly themed ironstorm)

Double up!

Whirlwinds are cool but too many points at the moment. If you want one for thematic reasons, go for it, but I would skip it and take a second Vindicator....

Also I've had a heck of a time keeping devastators alive and shooting at targets so I would suggest a second predator instead.

Hellblasters?

I want these guys to work but I think they need a transport.  Report back if they are killer for you.

Bladeguard!

Chaplin with these guys in a transport is boss! I have been dropping mine out of a Stormraven or Landraider.  Really good for a turn 3 line smash! Many folks prefer the lieutenant but cold dice have put me off such things.

Iron (Hands) Warriors?!

Iron Father Fierros... I would kitbash a counts as of this guy immediately and play him hard if I had heavy intercessors.  He's a beefcake and gives 5+++ to the chonky boiz in Gravis.

Hopefully helpful.

Have fun with tanks and tough guys!

Cheers!
