In addition to Mike’s comment about extra hits I just wanted to point out that on hit 2 you rolled a natural 10 on the D10, and this triggers Righteous Fury (see p 195 of the DH rulebook). Essentially think of this of a ‘Crit’ in that it allows you to add an extra D10 damage if you can successfully roll another WS or BaS (as appropriate) Check. The extra roll has all the same modifiers as your initial attack so in this case you would need to roll equal or less than 64 on a D100 to get the extra damage.

I don’t think I can justify the extra hits hitting the other Ur-ghul in this combat due to relative location and Saoirse’s phantom is also in the way.  This dose however mean that even if the Ur-ghul dodges one hit the other three will kill it, so consider it dead.

@Black Cohort next, and then surviving ghuls can have a go...

Thanks! Even if they're dead regardless I went ahead and added the hits for practice. No Righteous Fury this time but pretty happy.

Session 1  Player Rewards

All Players may choose one of these two options:

  • One simple characteristic advance of your choice (add +5 to any one stat and mark the simple advance in the first little box below said stat on your sheet)
  • Upgrade one Trained Skill to the +10 version

Individual Player Rewards

Each player may then make one choice from the option presented for them below.

A quick note, as Evil Eye was unfortunately not able to play the team is a little unbalanced on the ranged vs melee capabilities, even with Saoirse pet phantom. As such, out of the aspects available, Dire Avengers and Wrap Spiders madke the most sense to go hybrid ranged/melee. As such in addition to the planed rewards Mike Zulu and A.T. will have the option to take a Diresword/Arm Mounted Power Blades (respectively) as a reward instead. If you do take the weapon then my thinking is that your Exarch has recently started training you in the aspects melee weapon of choice and you had packed said weapon, but in the immediate aftermath of the crash you did not have chance to retrieve it from the Featherflight hold, but now you have.

Ialandranth Veilseeker

  • Exotic Wepaon Training (Arm Mounted Power Blades) + 1 set of Arm Mounted Power Blades
Arm Mounted Power Blades: Melee, Damage 1d10 + 10, Pen 6, Balanced, Power Field
  • Forsight
  • Sprint

Ialathial Duskstrider

  • Exotic Wepaon Training (Diresword) + 1 Diresword
Direwsord: Melee, Damage 1d10 + 3, Pen 6 Balanced. Grants +10 to WS tests when using it. This weapon is immune to the effect of Powerfields (so no one with a power weapon can break your sword when they parry you).
  • Combat Master
  • Double Team

Kelman Orach

  • Sharpshooter (essentially upgrading your Deadeye Shot)
  • Rapid Reaction

Saoirse Firebright

  • Lightning Reflexes
  • Assassin's Strike

Venkarryn

  • Marksman
  • A Ballistic Skill Advance

I know which player is which, honest ....

Does anyone have any suggestions on the question asked for the purposes of Augury?

EDIT: And not a suggestion by some wag like: 'Who will win the 3;30 at Kempton?', or 'What's next week's winning Lotto numbers?'

The obvious follow up to Ialandranth's question would be 'Who also treads our path?' or something along those lines, but it is not for me to say on this or otherwise until the dice consent.

I agree - I was just hanging fire in case someone else had a better idea...!

I am going to wait a few days, say Wednesdayish, before moving things along so that anybody who wants to respond can do so.

I presume Soairse will rest for the 30 or so min until the next time mark, so should be a little refreshed (or at least less weary) by then.

Now a question for you all. I did not think opening the portal would have been as problematic as it has proven, my bad, I should have just asked for a single test or maybe two.

Do you want me to railroad the adventure through this setback to continue the main plot, or do you want to go off the rail and see where the B plot (that at this point was just meant to provide a bit if tension/sense of urgency, not actually hinder) takes you from this juncture.

I have decided, from this picture, that we are actually a travelling band of Troubadours, where I look suspiciously like a backing singer, and everyone else has Solo Bass-Guitarist Pose.

Florence & The Machine (Gunners)?

I have no preference either way, but generally I prefer to avoid resets. Fate brought us this far…

I agree - I think the Fail State adds to the narrative - we rock it how it rolls.

Intelligence attempt:

INT 39 - 10 (Diff) = 29

D100: 13 (unlucky for some...)

Ok so you have passed the test to use the controlls, now what do you want to chaneg about hte portal? Size, permuability, end location, somethign else?

@Akylas, @Mike Zulu, @A.T., @Black Cohort

What do you think, gang? Feel free to call the shot.

@Mazer Rackham We need an exit, it seems. Going back would likely expose us to more of that radiation.

I assume the portal’s destination is “correct”, just unfortunately underwater now.

How much control would we have over an alternate exit?

Perhaps making the portal semi-permeable would make it easier to approach from our side, and we would need to be ready to swim once we cross over.
