Mike Zulu
Ialathial Duskstrider: Ialathial realised he addressed the Warlock informally, but she appeared to accept the query in good faith regardless. Ialathial did not like to dance around the subject. As a Warrior and a Dreamer he was no stranger to death, and had no intention to perturb the Seer on the delicate matter. Yet, if it were pertinent to the mission at hand, they needed to be prepared. Satisfied with her answer, the Avenger lowered his catapult and bowed his head. “i appreciate your insight, Saim’Soairse.” +++ “Degenerates,” the Avenger hissed at the sight of the slaver-kin. Instinctively, he raised his catapult at the approaching skimmer and assessed his surroundings for firing positions. “+Ready yourselves+.” Spoiler Initiative: Roll d10: 6 + 4x2x2 (AgB, Unnat Ag, Lightning Reflexes) = 22 Trokair and Mazer Rackham 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386075-a-knocking-afar-ic-thread/page/9/#findComment-6138473 Share on other sites

Mazer Rackham
Saoirse: That the Pain-Eaters hadn't immediately rushed them spoke to the fact they hadn't got a certain sighting, but likewise their posture suggested a search pattern. What were these Drukhari deviants doing? Was this a second attempt at murdering the Craftworlders after the failure of the blood-cannibals in the Webway? It must be so - they were known to breed and employ such barbarous creatures. Venkarryn broke from the group, but Saoirse stilled any protest after his confident statement. If he could be in position to cripple the raider, all to the good, but if not, swift-shod feet would have to support him... For now, all she could do was wait for an opportunity to discern one path from the other. Mazer Rackham
Saoirse: Saoirse has plenty of range, so she'll stay put (hidden) and observe: Per Test D100: 49, Fail, by one IIRC. The Drukhari were obviously waiting for something, spreading out perhaps to search, but their milling about was incongruent to a species whose purpose was to pounce and murder. Curse their indolence! Flaunting the very nature which earned them damnation in the first place! She stilled her mind, thinning the heat of customary Saim-Hann choler. It would backwash and cloud her abilities, and now was not the time. The austere superiority the Humans so disdained her people for was nothing short of rising above the murky sludge of emotive effluent. It was all too easy for a mind so instantly satisfied to enjoy revelling in filth. The degenerates ahead were constant, undying proof of that...degradation. She was grateful her companions had trodden the Aspect paths. Their disciplined minds would be as keen, unsullied blades in the tumult approaching, something to cling to and admire when the monsters stirred from their decadent idling. Mazer Rackham
Saoirse: Survival suggests their extinction; our decency demands it. One of the others had started the thought, but all had shared it, finished it, refined it into the purpose of their mutual muscles, minds, resolve. The Aeldar mind does not exist by language, Saoirse emoted, but by existence. A kaleidoscopic array of brilliance in a sunlit vale, each colour not infused by happenstance, but by circumstance. The wind does not blow around the boulder because it wills it - no! It flows around the rock, breezing against it's ardent sculpture because the rock requires it. So too were the radiant yellows of mid-life stars, painting blue skies and purple clouds all part of a great engine, a monument of will and masterpiece. An Aeldar thought was the same. It was not one hue, but a dozen, all immediate, all bound to a tableau of vivid reality. Not a landscape...the perception of a landscape. I hear something...Kelman thought it as an aside, a whisper of possibility. It was Kelman. His Aspect-face had much darker thoughts, of destruction, of fire and war, of the caress of a trigger, the strange divorced relish of the recoil of his Reaper-launcher and thinly veiled lust to send the filthy, loathsome scum bursting apart, never to be salvaged for regeneration! Scattered to doom and death, and the end! Saoirse peered around the mask. Seers had to look out of the corners of their minds - and others. This was not prying, it was more...guidance. Oh, the conceit of that! Then, something peeked behind her mask. A brush, no more, a flash of recognition from without, a trail of understanding through a looking-glass darkly. It was not the Drukhari, it was cold, living in the never-was and always-been, a whisper of a ghost twisted around a sunset. Something impervious, something brought into being by song. That is what Kelman heard. A song. A song of creation. Harmonies that wove bone into being from thought. A creature wrought in nigh-indestructible crystalline. A guardian. With the Dark Kin distracted, now was as good a time as any to go on another fishing expedition, and was bathed with great, dolourous lament of a soul long expired and left to wander the wastelands of consciousness - without the colour craved of the Eldar psyche.
