Due to pressing factors beyond my control, game start will be delayed by a few days later than planned, and will now commence W/End comm 07 November 2025. If no one objects (I haven't seen much activity to speak of in the requisition spreadsheet recently), I might also request a stummer (5 req), an astartes grapnel (3 req) and some stalker flares (8 req; is this per flare?). These are nice to have items, and not necessarily must-haves, but in lieu of any other equipment requests by the rest of you, I might try loading Hierax down with oodles of tacticool utility gear for forward operations because otherwise we're just leaving money on the table, and he's not exactly a "squad mode" sort of character. Maybe also an astartes harness (4 req), because space batman.

Gear choices should be fine - my tuppence:

• Grapnel - double-check the line can take your gear, I think Mk VI is 170kg, and then you'll be loaded with nearly 100kg more in bombs and gats. If you are too heavy, I'd suggest an Astartes harness as an alternative at 4 Req, as that is specifically for any Marine.
• Stalker Flares - Four in a pack, 8 Req?

Edit: I'm mostly joking, of course, I suspect we'll get a load of last minute additions to the sheet... but @Mazer Rackham if you go to close the sheet when it's time to start, and there is still 25 req unclaimed, then I might as well have the Suspensor? [/shrug]

RE: the harness and grapnel -- I can't find anything in the core rules or errata that would indicate the load rating for either of these items, but I am happy to defer to your judgement on the matter.

 

Edit: upon further consideration, the grapnel is likely designed to be used by astartes scouts, and is like the grapnel that reivers are kitted out with, who in the nü fluff wear "light weight" power armour, so in the spirit of the rules let's switch that over to a harness setup.

 

Edit 2: if I might request a final boon, can I make a last- minute (very minor) rejiggering of my xp spend, replacing Rapid Reload (200xp) with Acrobatics (100xp; Raptors Table) and Pilot (Personal) (100xp)?

No problem. Lots of Req going spare, put it on your sheet. With a lot of Players taking SGW, it freed up space.

Can't immediately recall where I saw it, as I was looking for references to the load weight, but it's something like 200kg, and Scout Carapace is literally half that. The  Astartes Harness is basically an abseiling harness that trusses around your waist, thighs and girthy Astartes glutes. It will serve you well. You simply make the Climb Test, (it's a full action) and as long as you narratively anchor up, if you fluff the climb horrifically, you don't fall.

Yeah, good call. Mags and bombs. If you're stuck for ideas, I don't mind hashing out something like the Astartes Combat Webbing - although it comes empty, so you have to fill it. However, we could work out what you wanted - so if you wanted two twin-magazine pouches, you could carry 4 x mags without encumbrance etc, etc.

Instinct says about 8 Req. Bolter mags are about 3 Req IIRC saying, so that's, what, 56 rounds for 6 Req - but your bike guns put out the hurt, so it needs to balance that without penalising you too much.

Given the campaign set up, I guess it’s mostly scavenged stuff and leftovers, so maybe some grenades and a few clips of ( special? ) ammo ? 
A chainsword might come in handy, even if Tac are ranged foremost.

Maybe some bling on the boltgun, making things easier to hit? I  always like the IH stabilizer thingy that lets you shoot on the move.  

Of course, they might be some weapon leftovers and even tac squads have special weapons.. these guys were outfitted to kill big bad Orks after all..

Oh, sorry! I was so lost between the Cold and getting a grip on the GM pitch that I assumed that - it’s edited  on the Dramatis Personae already. 
 

Anyway, while I am throwing words at creating the fluff, the bare bones is that beyond the DW set up he’s a Tactical Marine from the Mentors / Mentor Legion

Ruleswise it’s built around  the Novamarines advances to represent him being able to access / support the team on intel/ knowledge from the Mentor Combat Archives. Skills and equipment are bare bones atm:

 

Besides “Tactica Expertise” and the already good Fel ( we can all thank @Necronaut for some stellar rolls there! ) I took “Talented: Command” to further the idea of an advisor/ force multiplier.

 

I decided to spend the remaining xp on an attribute increase and “Tech Use ( mostly to represent the Mentors working with some more.. esoteric … stuff and also to bring in some layperson support while our Techmarine is off to the races 

 

Oh and @Mazer Rackham was kind enough to  issue  the equivalent of the Raven Guard chapter trapping mission recorder thingy - so it’s extra group XP  for analyzing the mission data afterwards ( we’ll, those who survive..  )
