We did have the concept of the RPG (Night) Club which was a Club dedicated to the fabrication of 40k based RPG games.

We could set up a Club, Leave it set to Open, and then throw build ideas into it. I personally want to try and execute some kind of very easy to pick up SM Scout game which could be used a prelude for the (any game really) Armageddon RP, very similar to the 'scaled-back' ideas Tro is running.

That way everyone could do their 'interpretations' in their own thread. I could leave all the options on the table for blogs or stuff like that if they wanted them. TBH, I think this is possibly the better support of the PBP forum as suggested during the re-structure.

I'll build it....maybe they will come?

EDIT: I've started the setup of the aforementioned group/club and it's pending the green light. If successful I'll begin setting the topics up. My plans for the 'Decimus' Entry-level RP System or (DERPS, you know, like GURPS, but with more Dakka) are beginning to shape up..

Dear God, my spelling.

Lads, if you want to start developing your RP Rulesets etc, the RPG (Night) Club is now up and running (Many thanks to whoever approved it).

Alright, Only War buffs - how well does the game scale for small groups without Comrades? I was thinking about a three-man team on a short, sharp railroad, but they would likely have to be Stormtroopers since ablative wounds aren't available.

How feasible is it?

Probably have to mandate at least one Stormie or Commisar, and two other Player Grunts with Comrades to try and keep it tight, for a total of five. I can see that working out very well, actually. Would be interesting to see how different Archetypes would handle the...problems...I planned.

Another potentially interesting idea could be using something like the Badab War as a setting for a game, Deathwatch would be the obvious choice, but only war against Astral Claws supported Tyrant's Legion or Rogue Trader based naval campaigns could be super cool.

We did actually try that a few years ago with Beneath A Hateful Sky, with a couple of Astral Claws, an Executioner and a Lamenter.

Our valiant crew all chose Secessionists, even though given the choice of the heroic Loyalists...one of the current crop of Black Crusaders in Blackest Heart is a product of that work we did back then, along with a loony marine toting an autocannon and a Tyrant's Legion minion. Both make a cameo in the first part of the BC game.

We were going to do it as a BC Game, but I thought that was inappropriate given the Astral Claws were not, officially, Chaos Worshippers, and it resulted in being a hybrid of both systems. A second (non PvP) campaign was planned for the Loyalists, but we never had any takers for that side of it.

reading about the Minotaurs in IA vol 12 has me thinking of a new idea, an Ordo Astartes acolyte group investigating 21st founding chapters a few decades after that founding.

@Lysimachus Hey man, could you open a Files section of the Club?

I've built some glorious gubbins and want to start a library for folks to just be able to go and get a datasheet. Beats doing Downloads.

Ta.

My search-fu is derp today - does anyone have/can anyone find the link to the Big PBP FAQ we tried to compile a while ago? After seeing some back and forth in a couple of the games, it might be an idea to resurrect that chestnut so we can have a go-to repository for queries.

@FabiusV4lcoran Thought I'd bring this up here - since it's more appropriate than cluttering elsewhere - if you were interested in having a look at what we were doing for the Drukhari game, feel free to peruse the appropriate thread which hasn't been ported across to my knowledge, so you may not have scoped it. As @Xin Ceithan pointed out elsewhere, it didn't really get a chance to build up steam (a lot was happening with other games, and our GM's are sadly few):

As @Trokair recommended, have a damn good root around in the Nook, as you'll get a feeling for how we do things game-wise here (sometimes it even goes right) and let us know in your LFG post what resources you've got access to, experience with PBP or RPG in general, just to let us support you properly in your experience here (I notice you've had a crack at Dark Heresy, so I am most intrigued good fellow...)

Tro was also correct in advising that we do have a Deathwatch game opening up in a couple of weeks, but we're pretty locked tight. I always leave myself a back door there, so the price of admission if you're interested will be a really good character idea or background. For the Campaign (House) Rules, if you want to see what you might be getting into, they're here:

Welcome @Aknoby!

There are a couple of games midway through playing at the moment, which might not be the easiest to join.

But I think @Mazer Rackham might have had a couple of people drop out of his Armageddon setting game, and we are just starting that one, so that might be worth asking about?

I can see you're new to the B+C, are you familiar with the FFG 40k games? (No problem if not, but obviously it does help!)

Hail, and welcome to the Nook!

Unfortunately at the moment we don't have a singular thread with game statuses. Might be an idea for us to create one...maybe a Post per GM who is running games, with a list of the games in progress, etc? What do folks think?

For the moment, it will simply be a case of trawling the topics tab, and looking for the Out Of Character Threads, where we generally do recruitment for the game, and go over the game premise and rules.

Regrettably, I don't have any games open to new Players ATM, but sometimes slots do open up when certain plot-points or parts of the game are closed/opened in others.

Hey so I'm new here, where I look for open RPs? Please help!

Welcome.  At some point in the relatively near future (so months not years), after the current "mission" in Time of Reaving (a "deathwatch" HH game) is done that will probably get paused while I run an arc of a new Rogue Trader campaign set in "current" 40k, though with my take on how it should look, not the dumb GW version of recent events.

I'd like to express interest on the Rogue Trader thing when you do decide to do that.  Rogue Trader strikes me as a particularly fun game given the gray area they occupy.
