Nolites:

The Orks defy convention at the best of times, but their appearance and behaviour is confusing to your hypnogogic training packages. They look like typical Boyz, but among their number are those wearing strange glyphs on cut and welded armour plates, and some kind of partial worksuit, in parody to the labour-minions found toiling in worlds across the Imperium. A bewildering array of weapons sprout gadgets of a use that makes no sense to anyone other than their Orkoid owners - the seemingly practical mixes with the mindless...

GM: Edit has now been completed. Play commences.

Incario:

Incario heard the noises of movement to his rear, but he ignored them entirely. Whoever was approaching from the northwest, they would have to do so through narrow defiles and gaps between the rocky pillars - perfect targets for a heavy flamer. He didn't even bother saying anything to Kurkov. No Devastator worthy of the name would need it pointed out.

Instead, Incario raised Drumroll, aimed at the mobs that were gathering atop the scarp, beyond the reach of cleansing flame, and let out a joyful roar before pulling the trigger.

“For the Emperor, my brothers!”

Action: FAB at Ork Horde 3
BaS52 +20(FAB) +10(Short) +10(Motion Predictor) +??(Horde Size) = 92+??
Roll: 47, Hit with 4 (or more?) DoS
1 +4 (or +5 for max 6?) Hits +1 Hit for X
Min Dam: 1d10(1)+12+2 = 15 at Pen5
So assume all Hits cause Mag Dam, but will roll if required? (Or if we're doing that thing where rolling RF puts extra Hits into Hordes?)
+d5(3) for Unrelenting Devastation
Total: 9 (or 10?) Mag Dam inflicted

GM: No, even at min damage you will harm the Orks, so unless you want to roll in order to illustrate/inform your narrative (or tally up the ridiculous damage), there's no need. Righteous Fury giving extra Hits on Hordes is not in effect in this game.

GM: Just to note, Unrelenting Devastation only works in SQDM, as per p.77 DW Core, so you'll get all Hits (6 RoF, +1 Explosive for 7 Mag Dam).

Kur-Dawa

"Race you, Older Brother!" Enkush called as he remounted his bike. Kur-Dawa could not help but grin under his helmet. The Storm Lord had spirit, kindred indeed, and he a Mars sworn, normally such a dourer folk, or perhaps Kur-Dawa had had the misfortune of only encountering ones who’s spirit had become to akin with the machine.

He eyed the little cliff face up to where the Greenskins were approaching, a tad too steep to tackle head on, especially as he did not know how firm the ground under the sand and ash actually was. The two of them would have to head along quite a bit before they would be able to climb out of the river bed and be level with the foe, and by then, knowing Orks, they would have cone over the edge and charged down.

“No need, cousin, they are too eager to die and will be down here any moment now.”

Instead he would angle the bikes twin bolters so that as the Orks silhouetted themselves against the sky they would become easy pickings.

Spoiler

Half Action Mount Bike, Half Action Tactical Manoeuvre (up to 20m) to move so as to remain in more or less the same spot but realign front of bike/twin bolter to cover the ridge south east with hoards 2,3,4 on it.

Enkush

“No need, cousin, they are too eager to die and will be down here any moment now.”

Sound advice from Kur-Dawa. Sat in his saddle he cast his eyes upon a rock scarp and reviewed the data from his requisitioned cartograph.

He didn't like the odds and so he copied the White Scars action with his bike. Somewhat apart to add overlapping fields of fire against the Ork threat.

(Free Action) !nt 44 + Evaluate (+0) = 44. Result: 40, Pass.

(Half Action) Mount Space Marine Bike.

GM: In order to just move things along so our newer Player can start busting heads, I will activate Ork Horde 2 now, and @Lord_Ikka can post at his discretion. I will then activate or deal with Ork Horde 1.

Horde 3:

(Resolved Mag Dam).

A shudder tears through the Ork troops, but they have no sense of self-preservation, or fear from the quick thunder. Green bodies fall over the scarp, tumbling down in ragdoll spill.

Horde 2: (Mag ??)

When the Orks are met by heavy bolter fire, they flinch, but only a moment. Perhaps they were not expecting such a defiant response, or maybe they thought the site abandoned, or merely only a few struggling survivors. Now, at the prospect of a real punch-up, they let rip with their guns in a torrent of crude slugs.

Frag out!

Nolites announces his presence by tossing a frag grenade just behind the horde of Orks spilling, lemming like, over the bluff. It arches up in a lazy parabola...

Half action aim, half action throw grenade. Rolled a 53 against BS 49 plus aiming bonus.

Hierax

Hierax raised his boltgun to a firing position and joined the brightly-coloured Celebrant in sending a short burst of rounds into one of the advancing hordes while taking cover behind a nearby outcropping of windswept rock. Better to concentrate their firepower and whittle down the savages as much as possible before being inevitably swamped by the press of alien bodies. He also certainly wasn't going to stand and die out in the open.

Half Action: half move up to 6m towards/behind adjacent rock outcropping

Over the hill came the charging Orks firing wildly.

Watching their charge, he listened.

(He did the maths)

Crude slugs ricochet off his bikes armour from the ill-disciplined Ork fusillade.

One lucky shot finds a weak spot, punching through the knee mesh of his left knee. Blessed is he by the works of the Omnissiah, his enhanced physique stops the blow from causing any injury.

He did the monster maths.

Uldyssian

The Salamander strode towards the oncoming hoard seeking a gap in the rocks to unleash his fury, least the greenskins dig in. While reckless brutes by nature he had seen their cunning, or perhaps caution first hand when wielding explosives against a defensive line, but he had also seen their own charges broken and scattered by the same.

Move up and fire if the ork group 1 can be fired upon, if not hold action and fire as they come into view.

Frag grenade: 30 to hit.

5 hits (blast 4, +1 explosive)

Damage: 18, 14, 15, 12, 18, Pen 0

Kurkov

The Devastator grinned beneath his helm. This was what he was born for, to burn out the enemies of the Emperor with flame. He moved slightly to get a good view of the Orks closest to him and gripped his flamer's trigger.

Spoiler

Half Action - Move as close to possible to Mob 1

Half Action - Standard Attack at Mob 1

Ork Horde 1:

The Orks are caught by flame and blast, front rank of the mob blitzed into seared and scorched meat.

They stall with strange, guttural, panicked cries, and flee immediately from the terrible bombardment and heat.

Leyuun:

Squad Leader freebie Cohesion challenge. I will let @Xin Ceithan fill in with his favourite Sean Connery quote, but Players should assume he's told them to get their arse in gear, and reflect some kind of friendly, but stern direction into their posts if they drop into Squad Mode.

GM: Be advised I have not yet discussed any Oaths, not have I had seen any mentioned, so SDQM will only affect your Abilities which function within it: Unrelenting Devastation, Wrathful Descent, etc etc. Bolter Assault or anything like that are unavailable at this time, and will be so until we have an Oath.

Round Two

Incario:

Incario cannot Dodge Horde attack, takes 3 Wounds after AV+TB

The mob Incario had targeted started to break and flee, but their kin shot back. Orks were pitiful marksmen but the sheer amount of firepower they put out meant that it was almost impossible to avoid. Something struck the Celebrant's breastplate with a jarring impact. He growled under his breath. That would leave a bruise.

Quickly panning his weapon across a few inches, he let loose a retaliatory burst at the mob that had just fired upon him.

“Kill them all!” he voxed, “If any escape, they'll come back with a whole war klan!”

D100: 76 – nope, deaf to whatever Mazer wants us to hear

*Corvous Armour gives +15 to Auto-senses sight or hearing awareness test instead of +10. Heightened Sense gives +10 to srelvant perception test, but I am not sure if the +10 form Heightened Sense meshes with the Auto-senses as one is marine body and one is marine armour (and there is a reason why space wolves like to go round without helmets, it interferes with their even keener senses)

Hierax

Most of the charging groups of orks broke and fled under the withering volume of ordinance leveled upon them from those gathered in the wadi, but some yet defiantly charged into the teeth of the astartes’s guns. Hierax, sheltered in the lee of an outcropping jutting through the ash and sand, was momentarily disoriented by the overlapping fields of fire and echoing clangor of heavy weapons discharge at such close proximity and thought briefly that all of the orks had fled. However, the sight of more orks cresting the ridge quickly disabused him of that notion, and he continued to fire upon the aliens with disciplined, tightly controlled bursts.

Over the din of the battle and automatic weapons fire, something miraculously caught his ear…

Mistakes were made

GM: @Trokair your PA and HS bonuses stack, so if your Lyman's Ear gives you +10, and Corvus gives you +15, you're up by +25. The reason Wolves go without helmets is because of Heightened Senses (Smell) which does not function in a sealed suit of PA. This robs the Wolves of a valuable asset - since HS (Smell) can help with tracking, and will tell a SW/Player how long ago something was hanging about.

GM: I will resolve the Per Tests after a few more attempts. This will give a 'Panoramic' picture, so to speak.

Incario Per test: Per50 +10(AutoSenses) +10(HS:Hearing) -20(Hard) = 50, Roll: 74, Fail!
