The icon is pretty small, though.. Maybe a Pair of d6 rolling out of a skull cup? A ServoSkull with a d20 lens for the cybernetic eye? A drukhari game? Welcome to both the B&C and the Nook @FabiusV4lcoran ! @Mazer Rackham was kind enough to spring the idea of keeping some of us in the flow with more a of laid back narrative style of games away back and we decided try looking into the Drukhari side of thing. I am sucker for world building and lore, so I waded into brewing something up for that and still have some of the scribbles and notes, so I’m thinking of putting them to work in the Liber or Drukhari section to expand on that. Recent events have put that idea on hold ATM. So, sadly no. There isn’t any Drukhari RPG currently on the Nook ( at least while I am writing this….) But you’re certainly in the right place - there are a couple of games whose current story arc is closing up, so there’ll surely be an opportunity for a game ! While the only game that is due to start in the near future already has all its slots filled and locked (I believe), there will be other in due course. So stick around and hang out, read a bit of the active games and settle in. Or if you think you know what you are doing start your own game. I've attempted a Dark Heresy game, but I'm gonna have to wait for things to calm down a bit IRL before I'm ready to try DMing again. More time to plan!!! Black Cohort
Welcome to the nook. I think a Drukhari campaign, while potentially interesting, would also be rather challenging to run. Not in terms of mechanics, but in the story and themes. The Dark eldar are bad people, to the point that even in 40k they rank pretty high on a "Who are the worst people in this setting" scale. I don't see how you could run a Drukhari campaign without a pile of mature themes that many people don't want to deal with in their rpgs or that encourage problematic player actions. It would have to be a campaign where the players and GM talked extensively about how to handle that, and what would be acceptable and not. That level of effort would need a really awesome campaign idea to justify I think. With 40k often being very Imperium of Man centric, from a worldbuilding/lore perspective there are plenty of areas that would also be very interesting to explore that I think would be less challenging. Mazer and I went over this all well. Our idea was to make it more of a intrigue / backstabbing thing along a very clear line of story to keep the focus on, more of a Vampire the Masquerade thing. With the idea of Blood and Carrion as a more narrative game with the focus on a single character and the post as you are able pacing, it was pretty much already the idea that more despicable things are handled offscreen anyway and subject to close screening and cooperation by player and DM at all times. I’ve played and GM’ed VtM games, including some set among the Sabbat side - there is the potential for some great stories there if you avoid falling into the random murder hobo trope. As you say it’s fundamental to establish some groundwork with the group early on ( and propably to know your players as a GM ) to avoid having things getting out hand. The timeframe required on this alone would make it slow burn at any rate - coupled with my own rather erratic timetables and the need to establish a decent setting / world building (which I indeed think is the most important thing to make it more than murder elves in space ) means this a rather long term project at any rate. 7 hours ago, Black Cohort said: With 40k often being very Imperium of Man centric, from a worldbuilding/lore perspective there are plenty of areas that would also be very interesting to explore that I think would be less challenging. Agree also. I’d love to see some games set amongst the Mechanicum, something like Noir WH Crime or some Cyberpunk style Underhive / Necromunda thing. For the truly adventurous, I’d go for the full terror comedy of having an entire game set in the Administratum - the 40K version of “the Office”. (which might be more horrifying than anything Drukhari TBH ) Mazer Rackham 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386959-a-drukhari-pbp-rpg-game/#findComment-6137711 Share on other sites
FabiusV4lcoran
Those are good points about the atrocities we might have to deal with with a Drukhari game; I definitely assumed it was more of a VtM-type Sabbat game like Xin was saying. It would definitely take a strong DM to make sure things stay on-task with plotting and backstabbing and realspace raids (I hope.) I thinka Cyberpunk Underhive or Noir WH Crime game both sound fascinating. I'd really like to play a Black Crusade game just because I'm a major Chaos fan. WH Crime definitely fits in with Dark Heresy. I only DM'ed one scenario but it surrounded the cold trade and definitely has a noir feel over some of the more army-centered games (I'd imagine.) FabiusV4lcoran
@Mazer Rackham I like a little bit of it all, but Tzeentch is definitely my favorite. Magic, fire, and mutants. My main three favorite parts of Chaos. Ctesias in the Ahriman books is another favorite behind Fabius Bile and the Soul Hunter.
