I was mulling over trying to do a Defiler along the lines of the below piece of fanart before it was revealed that EC had lost them.

Of course, the same artist (Eddy Gonz) has also done some amazing Iron Warriors stuff, including their take on a very Defiler-esque Perturabo:

While I absolutely hate the dinobots and have every since they were released. I will say that Perturabo  DP is flipping awesome. I wish GW would go that route. They can keep the rest of them. Give us our Arquitors, basilisks, and Medusas back, even if its just for legends.

That would be pretty cool. In general I wish both Chaos and the Loyalist Marines had access to a bigger Mech/Robot style unit. Something between a Dreadnought and a Knight.

I didn't realise until long after the fact that the Defiler was retired to Legends. I hadn't seen one on the tabletop for years before that, and the model was never quite right in my eyes. This is a unit that could look a lot better with an updated, moden kit.

Defiler isnt Legends, at least not in the thousand sons codex, nor in the MFM for others. Its also still available on the webstore ( not even out of stock ) : https://www.warhammer.com/en-NL/shop/Chaos-Space-Marines-Defiler?queryID=473c46e5c01bfd643726b6f4c30cbdc2

I was thinking maybe you meant the soulgrinder, but that one technically isnt legends in 40k either ( only in AoS afaik ) however as its only part of the daemons army its currently more of a limbo-legends situation. ( tough like the defiler, also still available from GW

removed !? as it might give a different tone than I mean :)

I noticed something weird while looking at the new Traitor Guardsmen Squad (The old blooded killteam), and noticed the miniatures are paint up as iron warriors colors, which is new.  Odd, but may be a clue as this is a "new" kit.  https://www.warhammer.com/en-US/shop/chaos-space-marines-traitor-guardsmen-squad-2025?queryID=ec0991393a878ce1c0250ae20f37bd88

No those where painted to resemble the Darktide videogame enemies for the mini-boardgame that featured them.

I dont know anything about that game though ( Im not a computergamer ) it could be that they are in liason with the Iron warriors there ?

Naw, Dark Tide is a nurgle infestation. Actually surprised(when I last played Elysian armor just came out) that there arent any Plague Marines as opponents.

They're painted in the same way the Moebian 6th is painted.  Iron Warriors aren't the only wielders of Hazard Stripes across the game, though they do like it more than most.

Those traitor guardsmen were found in the Darktide board game.
