I feel like an easy way to stop scalpers is for GW and other companies to just contact ebay and blacklist certain products from being listed before people even have them in their possession.  I think the Scalpers mostly look to make money based on a promise that they will sell it to people who missed out on it within a 2 week timespan. If they stop the listings then the scalpers will have less incentive because theres no guarantee they will immediately make their money back.

Essentially you shouldnt be able to list something you dont own yet. Another way could be when GW is announcing a new book create a fake mockup of the limited edition or just dont show what it looks like, like say Series like Siege of Terra or the re-releases of Horus Heresy novels functionally all look the same with minor differences dont show people the real book so scalpers cant use photos of it in their listing, then Ebay can be like oh you dont actually have photos of this item so you cant sell it.

Or just make enough books. And when the demand remains strong and they reach triple digits on the second hand market...make some MOAR books.

You are trying to fight artificial scarcity with complex methods instead of just...getting rid of the artificial scarcity. Like for real, the only reason it happens is because SUPPLY is not enought to meet demand.

BL scalpers exists because GW refuses to meet demand, the second hand market is FULL of book out for years that go for triple digits. Its not scalping, its basic supply and demand.  People normal fans to begin with realised they can make more in a hour then they get in a week by just flipping BL books, and it worked so insanly well that the actual pros got involved. It happened gradually and this very forum talked about it as it happened, the solution has always been pretty simple, print, more, books.

I have the entire HH in HB editions already, why would I want a third edition of a book?  Don’t get me wrong, I love these faux leather styled editions and would have been all over them if they were the original release option.  They are also only offering them for 12 books.  Out of a series of over 50 books.

So I’m not surprised they didn’t disappear in five minutes.

My take on these HH LEs.
SoT LEs are of absolute dog-s*** quality, especially the bigger volumes. Bindings are completely falling apart and that's before even reading them.
I don't agree with those the 12 books selection either, my favorite ones didn't even make it.
I was going to get the hardbacks but again, I don't agree with with the selected 12. I sold my full HH collection because the original hardbacks were of poor quality and the later PoD reprints were even worse.
So many reprints, all of questionable quality, simply not worth the price.

I had no problems/issues with any of the Siege of Terra LEs personally (other than initial ordering shenanigans), I read each physical copy and not had any binding problems whatsoever. So although you had issues with yours which is sad to hear, it's not reflective of the whole print runs.

The one book ive had an issue with is the LE of The Infinite and Divine as its so stiff its basically impossible to functionally read the book as it wont fully open. I have the LE of all of The end and the Death and I found at least they were nice to read with no complaints on the physical quality of them. I could imagine though over time if you were rereading them or taking them off the shelf the binding might warp or become loose.  Over all though in terms of BL I havent had any issue with quality of paper or bindings beyond what i mentioned and the one Era of Ruin print on demand is indistinguishable from any of the other LEs.

One thing I can say is that some of the recent LEs I havent been interested in as the cover art has been largely mediocre.

Plenty of posts from other people showing their copies falling apart, especially the last three volumes which are massive and the binding they use can't support it.

Heck, GW sent me 3 replacements of one of volumes and every single one had a same issue.

All the hating I have done on LE's aside, I'm going to need all of you to take one for the team and skip the For the Emperor annotated edition so I have a better shot

It's for the greater good

Thank you for your time

Longshot sequel (and hardback re-release), as well as a boxset of the Mephiston books and Devastation of Baal re-release.

After cheating death at the hands of the T’au Empire in the last book, Nevic has a new conflict in her sights – the liberation of Parrescum from heretic hordes. A chance encounter gives her the opportunity to settle a debt she never thought she’d repay, but the forces of Chaos are everywhere, and she’ll need to use every last mote of her luck and skill to survive.

Yeah, I havent read Longshot yet (working on Legends of the Fall which is good, maybe after that), but I know folks on here speak fondly of it so it is good that it's getting a sequel

On the other hand

More reprints, which once again out number the new releases is getting old. I shouldnt be as upset as I am about the state of BL this year, but man they are really driving me not to care about novel releases anymore

The problem isn't that they're reusing stuff, it's that they're treating a simple reprint as if it was something to celebrate, rather than just, you know, PERIODICALLY RESTOCKING THEIR CORE CATALOG TO MEET DEMAND. There's really no reason for them to re-release a hardcover of The Devastation of Baal or Gloomspite - when all they need to do is keep the paperback in circulation longer, let alone the Omnibuses.

There is absolutely NO reason to reprint a hardback of Devastation of Baal, when they released the Lords of Blood Omnibus three years ago, including Dante, Devastation and Darkness in the Blood as well as Astorath: Angel of Mercy. THAT should be part of the main catalog, particularly since it's the core Blood Angels collection of the modern era. Instead, they keep going back, untying relatively fomo Omnibuses which at times become unavailable to purchase within a month of release, just to milk specific novels with another different format release - and these days that's often a format we've already had, even.

I'd go as far as to say the whole Horus Heresy redux nonsense with new covers they started releasing before even announcing Scouring 2 or the frakking Horus Primarchs novel, they should ACTUALLY condense the Heresy series in terms of ACCESSIBILITY, not just by scrapping most of the series, resulting in gaps of information for new readers.

They SHOULD be releasing 3-4 volume Omnibuses for the series, same way they have been doing for the German and French markets for the past few years - AND KEEP THEM IN CIRCULATION, ad perpetuum, because it's a CORE PART OF THEIR CATALOG. I'd argue that the BIGGEST hurdle to getting into the Heresy series in 2026 is NOT the amount of content, but the lack of easy access to it, coupled with the financial burden it entails; stretched over the course of 15 years or so, with half the series being available in Mass Market Paperbacks first, which you could get for 7€ per volume back then, buying into the series and catching up was feasible. Now it definitely isn't, not when half the time you're expected to pay scalpers a premium. They could alleviate this by bundling books into omnibuses, reducing the cost, space requirement, and accessibility issues, but they choose not to, instead expecting people to buy ebooks that cost more than the MMPBs originally did, and now even do so on a terrible walled garden app with a dreadful reading experience.

Longshot is getting a sequel but they even have to milk that.... it's not getting matching style of the first book (paperback, different cover). Instead they re-print that paperback as hardback but still don't match the style of the sequel?

At least with Steel Tread they didn't mess it up that badly.

Also, did we get only one AoS novel this year?

A whole one new novel!? You're spoiling us rotten GW

Its been 4 years since we got a full length ADB novel, the best we got is a short story in an anthology and I think a novella if you spend something like 250$ on a videogame.

Also where is the next Scouring novel?

Y'know BL was once a major part of GW. They put a lot of effort and resources into building up a relationship with their fans, letting them know what was coming. Huge social media presence. They put on events in multiple countries. I was personally at two, one in Ireland and one in England. That didn't happen over night and took a lot to bring into being.

These days BL seems about as important to GW as their range of plushies.
