Disappointing that they are rerealeasing so much. It makes you wonder if something happened behind the scenes and they have a big shortfall of content or if GW really just have stopped caring about BL.

The Mephiston boxset does look really good. Shame it will goto scalpers.

I dont think they are releasing less then other years, its just that they clump releases up, so its dead space followed by many releases followed by dead space.

On re releasing its easy money and the demand is there, so there is no reason not too do it.

They are surely releasing fewer new novels

They certainly used to release loads of short stories each year, which doesn't happen anymore. I prefer the less frequent, physical anthology approach of recent years, but is less output by volume,

I quite liked the eshort waves they used to put out.  I could pick and choose the ones I wanted and they were usually collected into an anthology PB for those who wanted the lot.  Their scarcity in recent times has added to the feeling of less product (along with the clumping of releases others have pointed out).

I, for one, am extremely happy about the Mephiston trilogy reprint. I was still missing Blood of Sanguinius in paperback so it will be nice to have the full set in hardback if I can snag it.

I was completely unaware of this trilogy, is it any good or worth buying as a first time reader of it?

Eh

It depends on what you want. If you want kind of older (meaning written more than a few years ago) Mephiston, or at least Mephiston with some checks still on him like he was Devastation and prior, then no, would avoid.

If you are down with Mephiston being a super duper mega psyker and are desperate for more Blood Angels, then sure. It's been a while, but I remember quite a few folks being left disappointed by the end

Carnage Unending (short story collection from a while back) is now up on Audible, I don't remember this being announced? But maybe I just missed it. It's there though, for folks that wanted it

We've another Siege of Terra book this week. Flames of Betrayal

"This Horus Heresy omnibus brings together Garro: Knight of Grey, which sees the former Death Guard legionary come face-to-face with Mortarion during the Siege of Terra, and Era of Ruin, an anthology of eight short stories that focus on what happened in the immediate aftermath of Horus’ defeat by the Emperor."

Such a weird mishmash of the two books

Collecting up loose Siege ends in paperback. Suggests this is the end (of the end of the end).

I didn't bother with the Garro hardback when it was originally released, and I haven't read Era of Ruin, so this book suits me.

I mean, I would expect then that Sons of the Selenar would also be included since that ends the Shattered Legions are.

Fury of Magnus could be left out because Vulkan and Magnus have their discussion in Echoes, but it just strikes me as a "well these arent in a collection yet, might as well"

Graham McNeill's two novellas, Fury of Magnus and Sons of the Selenar, have already been collected in The Shattered and the Soulless paperback.

I have the entire HH in HB editions already, why would I want a third edition of a book?  Don’t get me wrong, I love these faux leather styled editions and would have been all over them if they were the original release option.  They are also only offering them for 12 books.  Out of a series of over 50 books.

So I’m not surprised they didn’t disappear in five minutes.

Did they announce which twelve books will be released in this format?

There's been much discussion and debate about their choices of 12.

Don't know if it's still "Upcoming" in terms of the paperback release of Jonathan D. Beer's Tomb World, but I saw basically no conversation around it during its hardcover release.

Anybody here read it? Recommend or no? Feedback or insights?

I've just started into it, good so far. I like Beer's writing and the premise diferentiates itself from other Necron works pretty quickly.

Will make or contribute to a thread when I'm done.

I finished it back in February and thought it was solid. I just don't typically bother posting if there isn't a thread up, or in some cases, if the thread is too old. I recently finished Fall of Cadia too and it was fairly terrible, but didn't end up posting my against-the-grain spite review because the thread for it was old.

Happy to offer my thoughts when Roomsky gets a thread up, of course. The middle "horror" act was my favorite, but the horror segments are always my favorite.
