Armageddon Ork Hunters maybe?

Would be solid option for Kill Team.

Hmmm...

The original Armageddon Ork Hunters were just a kitbash of Catachans (with Ork Shootas, etc). It could be a fun option for Kill Team - launching a "primary" 2-sprue Catachan Jungle Fighters kit (to be released on its own at a later date), with the Kill Team "upgrade" sprue giving some Armageddon Ork Hunter specific specialists.

(Similar to how the Veteran Guardsman Kill Team had the "primary" 2-sprue Death Korps of Krieg alongside a no-longer-available "upgrade" sprue with bits for the Zealot, Bruiser, Hardened Veteran, Demolitions, alternative Medic, and alternative Vox-Operator.)

While I'd love Steel Legion to appear, I think their absence from the video, and the marked presence of both Cadians and Krieg instead, can be taken as confirmation that the force of Armageddon itself won't be coming in the foreseeable future.

I was really hoping that Yarrick would be a 'command group box' like they've done for other Guard special characters, but it seems it was not to be.

Indeed. I think incredibly unlikely they'll appear anytime soon unless GW are trolling.

I think that a better way to look at the absence of Steel Legion (which is a bit bummer) is what it could mean in the future for other regiments, for example wasnt there a rumor sometime ago about Catachan? Maybe thats who they will update next, it would also make sense because what other Armageddon regiment has been fighting Orks since forever? Armageddon Ork Hunters which are just spicy Catachan trained by Catachan regiments in the lore so thats two regiments in one kit, so peresonally I could see GW bringing them back in Kill Team before the next IG codex.

The 2021 leak had: "Astra Militarum with veteran-style Cadians. Two new regiments are also in the works. New Kasrkin and new vehicle, designed to fit between the Leman Russ and the Baneblade."

The Cadians came, as well as the Kriegers (first in Kill Team). The obvious thought would be that Catachans were the other of the "two new regiments", but it's worth mentioning that Attilan Rough Riders came out (and might have been what was being referred to).

Steel legion could be done well with just head swaps for cadians.

There's a lot of regiments that could be done that way. They bring in loads of heresy headswaps- wish they'd do the same here.

Please, no. The bodies have no similarity at all with the Steel Legion. Same thing with the Krieg models. They need their own kit.

When did I say this? Help me out

Back when BA were coming out, you mentioned it multiple times as possibly being some sort of celebration model though, specifically not part of the codex release wave.

edit

quick google suggests these videos, I feel like it was mentioned more times and don’t feel like rewatching to confirm if it was one of these specifically though

I think those rumours are dead, mate, just like the Space Hulk stuff.

Assumed as much sadly, was just confirming that it was a thing you’d talked about that didn’t come. Which is fine, all rumours are lies!

Id love a world where GW can supply plastic kits for all the classic guard regiments. That world doesn't exist. Steel Legion need their own kit, but in the hierarchy of guard regiments needing kits, I don't think a second gas-mask and coat regiment is top of that list.

100%. I even would prefer other regiments before SL, specially after getting Krieg.

New idea, kinda best off rumors.

What if this patch is meant to represet Guard Armor/Mechanized Regiments?

Other option is that GW will reveal new original Guard Regiment and while that would be cool, the odds of that happening now are way too low to consider.

I'd just like to take a moment to remind everyone that last reveal show trailer Adam had a Ravenwing seal as a lapel pin and all that amounted to was rules to make your own dude in the campaign book. Some of the patches here may be present under a similar premise.
