I've been painting up a subterranean assault snake army this year and have been worried about the new edition ending the army before It got to the table.   Who cares now.

What a nice model.    Blue snakes will nice nice being led by a big red noodle.  Hopefully usable rules, but if not what a nice Trygon prime.

I'd prefer we didn't lose the current Trygon kit (it holds up perfectly well and I'm still bemoaning the loss of the 5th edition plastic Raveners) but I have to say I do think they made the Red Terror here a pretty decent mini-Trygon/giant Ravener. As I said before I'm not in love with the pose but the actual creature design itself is superb.

Everybody talkin' about Catachans, but for me the miss is that it's not Elysians. Love those couple of shots with the Valkyrie in the intro video

yeah i think size wise its not as big as a trygon - which feels right, so hopefully trygon stays till it gets a separate release?

Seems to match the Trygon footprint, but at a lower height.

The Trygon could do with a new kit to be honest. Its showing its age.

And the Carnifex and the Hive Tyrant and the Warriors...

Yeah Tyranids could do with some work.

Problem is, like Drukhari Kabalites and Wyches, redoing them would invite scale creep, jigsaw assembly, and increase costs.

Which is why it's always better to release models that the game absolutely, certifiably NEEDS vs. let's redo this kit.... For the FIFTH TIME!

Yes, you can redo the Carnifex... Once Sisters have an Aircraft, Drukhari get plastic Court, Beasts etc. (really everything they've lost), Tau get another alien Auxiliary race, they finish EC and World Eaters... Because ALL of those things are more important than redoing ANYTHING that already exists in plastic, and since none of those things currently exist in plastic, there's no way making them can make the game WORSE which is ABSOLUTELY what will happen if the new Carnifex model you think you want sucks.

(Sorry for the rant, but this or something like it will be posted EVERY TIME someone suggests reinventing the wheel instead of doing things that are ACTUALLY neccessary)

Don't get me wrong. Dark Eldar absolutely deserve to be front of the line for big refreshes.

I doubt anyone would dispute that.

There's no reason  it is has to be an either/or situation though. You're making it sound like Tyranid getting new warriors in line with their recent releases would stop anyone else getting something new. The current rumours are DE will get a range refresh in 11th (same as GK), this won't stop the other armies getting things.

Also, I can’t see Sisters getting an aircraft as its more likely that everyone else will lose theirs as planes aren't in a good place rules wise.

The Warrior and Hive Tyrant refresh can wait for a while. Those can wait since they are really modular in their current forms. Apart from some teeth issues on the Warrior heads that need some knife work, I don't think these aged all that poorly. I think a Warrior refresh would only be worth it if it became a 5 model box like the Raveners and if they keep the weapons from the current box.

I wouldn't be surprised if the old style carnifex kits is quietly sent upstate to enjoy a peaceful retirement on a lovely farm.

It came from a time when the 'fex covered a lot of roles that have since been overtaken by more dedicated models such as Exocrine or Tyrannofexes. I don't think a 'jack of all trades, master of none' style of creature is needed anymore.  It's the downside of expanding ranges.  At some point we start getting an overlap in roles which often leads to one model being noticeably better at the role for one reason or another.

The lovely Screamer-Killer model was the best thing in Leviathan, IMO.

That raises a question. How does the Carnifex in Space Marine 2 compare to the model? That game's signaled the change for a couple minis, it seems. Any clues?

I think it's just the platonic ideal of a Carnifex, in how it behaves and how tough they are. Visually more or less the same model though.

God, I really hope they don't redo the Kabalites or Wyches. Those kits are basically perfect, and as you say a redo wouldn't actually improve anything.

I feel similarly about the Tyranid stuff. New Warriors would lose all the poseability and conversion potential of the old ones, for instance. The Hive Tyrant doesn't really have anything it needs (aside from maybe an extra sprue with deathspitters and devourers?), same story with the Trygon, and whilst the Carnifex is a very old kit with quite severe fit issues, I dread to think what a new one would be like.

Pre-order next week, along with standalones of the Raptors (surprisingly with the Lord included) and Celestian Insidiants.

Nemesis Operatives book/cards, Zoat and Ambull too.

Too soon, man. This is going to clash with the purchases I have planned.

Can anybody here who collects nids tell if the gaunts are the multipart or etb kit?

The Termagants from the multipart kit are the same as the Leviathan box ones, they just have an extra weapon sprue. The weapon sprue might or might not be in this box. It's GW so I wouldn't count on it.

A double release for Kill Team?

I reckon it will be tough to get the Terror on Devlan box so I'll probably try for the Nemesis rules.

I might go for those Cadians when they get a standalone release, the Murderwing is very tempting...
