Jukkiz
dunno how pricing be, but if it rises to about 150€ deathwatch suffers. If it stays at 135€, then we have better savings DW veterans X2 = 110€ Corvus blackstar = 76€ Total: 186€ Savings: 36€ Which gives you option to have... A watch masters or Artemis worth of pocket change BUT! IF prices stay at combat patrol level at 135€, you save: 51€ Which gives you pocket changes worth of more options, though you might need another Deathwatch upgrade sprue for shoulder pads, depends. Silvereyes
Those dice are gorgeous. And whilst I don't play Guard, I think all their new stuff is pretty gorgeous. Honestly reading the posts on this forum make me think my taste is vastly different from so many others, especially about Inquisidor Kroyle. I'd be happy for him to defect to the T'au. The Armoured Gauntlet supplement, the article says: "You also get the Armoured Gauntlet book containing rules for fielding brutal vehicle-heavy battles – including the ability to upgrade Ace units and track their glorious victories..." Which, eh, makes me wonder if this is going to be more like an alternate mode to 40K for tank heavy armies, rather than it being something that can just be used for normal 40K. I'd love to have some rules that made heavy vehicles a bit more special, unique, really sell their high points costs. If it's just a side game mode, I'm not really interested. Guess I'd be curious if it would include stuff for T'au since battlesuits are considered vehicles. Lord Marshal
Guard detachment preview. Quote The first, Armoured Infantry, is all about piling ranks of Guardsmen into nimble transports and thundering them up the battlefield – a tactic that has served the Imperium well on Armageddon and countless other theatres of war. Squadron Command expands the utility of your Command Squads by folding SQUADRON units into their Order structure, opening up the ability to power up ranks of Leman Russ tanks without needing to fit a Tank Commander or Lord Solar Leontus himself into your army’s roster. The Detachment rule also gives any SQUADRON units smaller than a Leman Russ a new Order, On My Signal, that lets them dart around whenever the enemy gets too close – whether it’s to avoid their reach, or chase them down. After disembarking from their transport, Guardsmen can level powerful barrages of lasgun fire that take the enemy quite by surprise, gaining a bonus to Wound rolls through use of the Opening Salvo Stratagem. They’re also adept at using overwhelming combined firepower to crack through the toughest of targets, and a careful use of the Combined Fire Stratagem will see even the lasguns on the back of the Chimera wounding Space Marines on a 3+. Where Armoured Infantry prizes light and fast vehicles for moving troops and sneaking attacks on the flanks, Steel Hammer is all about smashing the largest tanks you can muster right into your opponent’s lines – especially TITANIC vehicles like the mighty Baneblade. In fact, you can even have a Baneblade as your Warlord. Normally, getting too close to the enemy is a raw deal for your largest tanks, as many of their strongest weapons have the [Blast] ability and so can’t shoot the heretics clustering around them. Not so with the Ceaseless Cannonade rule, which does away with that restriction and removes the To Hit penalty for shooting within engagement range. You can do all sorts with your new Titanic warlord, but one of our favourites by far is the Assault Hatches Enhancement that lets disembarking infantry charge even if their ride has made a move. Just imagine – General Stormlord crashing headfirst through the enemy defensive line, only for two full-size squads of Bullgryns* to come out swinging at their soft underbelly. Pure cinema. Then, once your tank has Charged into its own prey, use the Engine of Wrath Stratagem to grind entire units of unfortunate souls into paste. Why have chainswords and combat knives when you have raw mass and a massive engine? Both of these Detachments are available in Armageddon: The Return of Yarrick, which is available to pre-order from Saturday, and you’ll be able to download them for free from the Warhammer Community Downloads page later this week. Join us tomorrow for a pair of Orky Detachments, and get your warbike ready for Da Speedwaaagh!. * We’re not sure who’d be more surprised by this – your enemy or the Bullgruns themselves. Lord Marshal
Preview of the Ork Detachments today. Space Marines tomorrow. Quote The Speedwaaagh! roars in with a Detachment Rule that perfectly encapsulates their mad obsession with velocity. Engage your Turbo Boostas to rocket forwards a massive 24”, though with one major drawback – you have to do it in an arrow-straight line, no pivots or shimmies, because your Boyz are far too busy holding on for dear life to steer. Of course, if you don’t fancy having your wacky bike boost interrupted by such irritants as ‘walls’ and other ‘solid objects’, you can give your Deffkilla Wartrike the Kustom Shokk Box Enhancement and ignore them entirely. All the speed in the world won’t help you if you can’t krump da humie gits at the other end, and the Detachment’s Stratagems have several juicy options. Ded Killy Construction is perfect for hammering into lines of Space Marines and other units with two Wounds, as your already effective Ork fighters hit that all-important 2 Damage sweet spot that means many common bruisers will think twice before trying to beat them by attrition. Meanwhile, Speshul Ammo lets you swing for the biggest trophies of all, letting the mass firepower of Warbikers and various buggies deal significant damage to the largest and scariest beasts and tanks. If you pair up this Detachment with Wazdakka Gutsmek, you’ll also be able to bring Warbikers along as BATTLELINE units – an idea as characterful as it is effective. Leave your slowpokes behind and embrace an army where everything moves at plainly ridiculous speeds, befitting a true Speed Freek. The second Detachment, Blitz Brigade, also embraces the idea of going really really fast, but wants to bring piles of Boyz along for the ride. Eager for the Fight is an invaluable rule for making sure your disembarking units make it all the way into close combat, and if you combine it with the ability to Advance and Charge when you call a Waaagh!, you’ll be laughing right up until you’ve got a choppa buried in their skull. That does mean that in order for the cargo of Boyz to be eligible to charge, you have to park up in front of your opponent and weather a turn of damage. Accordingly, several of the Detachment’s Stratagems are all about keeping your Battlewagons, Kill Rigs, and other vehicles alive. Impervious is a classic way to shrug off powerful shots from dedicated tank-killers, as it would take Titan-grade weapons to Wound a Battlewagon on a 2+ after a shot of the Mek’s special sauce. By far our favourite though, and definitely the most Orky, is Yooz in Trouble Now. Piling out of a transport just so you can fight the people around it makes perfect sense to your average Boy, and if you really need them back inside, Mount Up, Ladz lets you spirit them all into your wagon for just a single Command point. There’s still plenty more to uncover from these two Detachments, and they’ll be available for you all to browse later in the week on the Warhammer Community Downloads page. Come back tomorrow as we round out the Detachments from Armageddon: The Return of Yarrick with two new ways to unleash your Space Marines. Casual Heresy
Never thought I'd be the one to say this but... Do we really need more Space Marine detachments? Paturabo
THIS TURBO-BOOSTED SPEEDWAAAGH! IS COMING STRAIGHT FOR YA! (because it can't turn) I love it, fun and flavorful. Just hit the Red Button and GO! Definitely going to have to give it a try with my Speed Freeks. The Blitz Brigade sounds neat as well. I like the idea of Ork mechanized infantry rolling forward in souped-up rigs and wagons. I wonder how this one would do with 11th Edition's mix-and-match detachments. I would love to pair it with the Kult of Speed so my trukks and wagons can get a little extra protection and utility as they taxi the lads around. Casual Heresy
I would like to retract my earlier statement because both of these new marine detachments are essentially tailor made for my Ultramarines army.
