Thanks for the clarification/explanation - to me, the hook doesn't really convey "spear" and looks more like staff replacement.  That said, that doesn't mean it wouldn't work.  My personal favourite is "C", but I'm assuming that's too close to his original weapon for what you are going for.

Ah - yea fair. I do want something more... esoteric for this weirdo. 'C' is the original weapon too lol.

Always glad to tempt a Frater into a new life of elfin piracy and derring do ; )

You know what, I think you'll be successful in doing that! Thanks!

In the meantime, you've made great progress.

Dang... Been looking at this guy in pieces and mostly upside down for about a week.

He shall be known as Ithalrynd, the Gaudy Prince:

I didn't want his coat to be the same as the Dreamer, so I picked up the white lining and it does make him look pretty nautical, so that's good.

Couple more sessions and he'll be ready to go!

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

I like the new guy. The white lining works well.

I've been eyeing Eldar Corsairs for some time now but thanks to your thread, and after I had had realised that the discontinued Voidscarred box I liked is available as the Voidreavers kit and... I pulled the trigger and bought my first-ever box of xenos. I think that my affection for Sid Maier's Pirates and your vibrant colour scheme were important here. I don't know when I'll get around to painting these but thank you for the inspiration! I think that the 10-model side project will be fun and manageable.

Thanks for the support, Frater!

I knocked out a Space Marine this week for a coming tournament, so progress has been modest. Still, this guy is now on the right side of good enough:

And instead of finishing the Voidblaze Kindred, I did get these 'Voidguard Duelists' counts-as Banshees repainted to fit the vibe:

Going back to the 'Dragon hunters' for basing and finishing touches tomorrow, so likely another post forthcoming for that. Then I'll just have the last 5 Skyreavers and I'll be all the way done the release box!

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

easy for opponents to remember

They've all got extra fancy back vanes, and bucklers/shields on their left arms though not all visible in that shot. I do plan on getting the new Banshee kit at some point for my Ulthwé, and will consider replacing heads (a third time lol) with the extra bits from there just like the Silver Skull Reapers. They'll also be bodyguarding a sword and board character as Jain Zar, so it shouldn't be too hard for people to remember that 'shields=banshee'.

Calling these done as well:

I threw a red ink on these and I kinda vibe with it. It's a bit less red IRL, but I'm moving on to the last 5 skyreavers.

Well, it's wrap-up time for this project. Second Skyreavers came through quite well:

And all the portraits:

And then, anticipating my game with the army today, here's all of the finished corsairs onsite right now:

I'm going to bring the rest of the army back here from my friends' place where we usually game tonight so that I can put a full army photo in the Hall this weekend. See you over there soon enough, hopefully after my first 11th edition win (we're going to try the new core rules and missions tonight).

This thread is pretty much a wrap at this point, so thanks for all the kind likes and comments these past few months. I haven't painted a single scheme for this long in a very long while, but it's been super fun to commit and get a full Corsair army fleshed out in the middle ground between my Drukhari and Craftworlds.

I'm taking the next 10 days to prep for Call to Arms, so I'll see you in the Strongholds soon enough!

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

That's a fantastic army shot with all the models together. They look like they'll be great fun to play.

I like your solution for keeping the winged models stable - I glued coins to the bases of my Vespid, that is a far more elegant solution!

There's something oddly satisfying in watching other people's army shots. That's a beautiful and colourful army. Congratulations on finishing a project. And, again, thank you for inspiring me to get some space elves.
