Valkyrion
For this thought experiment we will assume all 2nd ed rules and codexes and wargear cards etc are all valid, so this isn't so much about rule changes, but more about gameplay. Examples including but not limited to; Using 3rd-7th FOC instead of percentage Using 8-10 board sizes instead of 6x4 Using different objectives Using different terrain rules Using different reserves rules Using different game lengths And so on. Some abstract thought will be required - can you play 2nd edition using the 45+45 VP system? Not really, but you can certainly put down X objective markers and award bonus points for killing the warlord, for example. Any thoughts? Karhedron
Personally I never really liked the FOC as it created a weird break between those armies with good Troops units and those without. Eldar are the prime example as originally only Guardians and Dire Avengers were Troops. Then Rangers and Storm Guardians and Jetbikes were added before Avengers and Jetbikes were removed. Simply put, if you add the FOC you then have to decide which edition you use to decide what count as Troops. At least Infantry is a bit more clear.
