First SM preview for the box I feel positive about, GW seems to have a pretty comfortable time putting out good looking Chapies.

A bit twitchy about it all relying on the thin smoke column though...

Decent enough, have the same complaint that I do of the newer Terminator chaplain where the legs have trim, the shoulders/jump pack have trim, but the chest plate is largely bare. It just makes it feel weirdly balanced from a detail perspective for me

Not planning on picking up the box but if he comes out separately I think painting the rims of the shoulderpads gold would help

Why's he got smoke coming out the sole of his boot? I don't understand that.

Lovely mini otherwise.

Looking forward to seeing one of the most strategically important parts of an ork force next week, grot.

Love how the article re-iterates how you can paint this one as any chapter you want. Surely this will help with the wave of posts on social media asking if they have to paint their Armageddon box marines as BA.

Mostly just okay. I dislike the loincloth and the fact the jump pack looks like it has pauldrons of its own. I still have issues with the helmets on most of the recent Chaplain models, they look too soft.

I think it's meant to simulate the smoke disappating after his initial jump...? But I could be completely wrong.

He's fine, does his job of being a modern jump-pack chaplain. Just, like everything else Marines in this box, kinda boring. Everything so far has been a retread on old concepts. I wanna see something akin to the Indomitus Bladeguard or Leviathan Apothecary

Is that a bat on his skull?

Like him a lot.

Going to show it to Boltgun Jr and see if he takes the bait for the marine half of this box.

Fortunately, he's a better painter than 12 year old me. I can just imagine the mess I would have made of that Chaplain...

There is a smoke grenade beneath the rock trailing up. He's also on descending, so he just happens to be floating into the smoke trail.

Love him. Very obviously follows the modern design language of a Chaplain but with some unique bling. I'll end up with two thanks to trades so will happily add them to my BA and UM.

He'll as usual look even better painted by others, not just the Eavy Metal team. I know I'll be painting that smoke as fire rather than this Caspar the friendly ghost thing they've gone with.

I really like this miniature. It checks all the right boxes for chaplains, while still being a relatively accesible model to paint for a starter box - and hopefully to put together too, but we haven't seen the sprues yet.

The same group of people that kept asking the base size of the defiler despite the gw site having it on there.

Does anyone else think that the vertical center crest and the side swiped grooves in his chest plate make it look rather Necrony?

Well, both are designed to be rib cages, so there will be similarities. And the sternum will be the ideal spot to place detail, though I get what you mean.

It's nice, but I have Lemartes at home :-) as well as one converted out of that recent Black Templar guy. how many jump pack chaplains is too many?

Three. Sounds like you can have two more! (Lemartes is a special character after all)

Looking at the angle of the foot and the ruin, it might be possible to trim out the smoke and have the foot directly on the ruins in a "leaping" pose. I am not worried about the structural strength as the smoke looks about at thick as the foot anyway. I just don't like the smoke effects in general.

Overall it is a really good model. I am actually thinking I might proxy him as Lemartes as I don't actually like the Primaris Lemmy model. This one looks much closer the previous version of the character.

Now we're cooking with promethium!

I really like this Chaplain (but of course, I already have a couple of Chaplains I really like in my collection. None with a jump pack though, so this should be a nice addition).
