Looking at the angle of the foot and the ruin, it might be possible to trim out the smoke and have the foot directly on the ruins in a "leaping" pose. I am not worried about the structural strength as the smoke looks about at thick as the foot anyway. I just don't like the smoke effects in general.

Overall it is a really good model. I am actually thinking I might proxy him as Lemartes as I don't actually like the Primaris Lemmy model. This one looks much closer the previous version of the character.

The only thing for me is that putting these side by side is that the old Lemartes is a far superior model! Pose, detail, character - it's just much more lovely :(

If they had just scaled up the Lemartes model - maybe made it generic rather than BA specific, yes, but that is a gorgeous mini!

Really like this guy, other than the smoke. I DESPISE this trend of adding smoke / explosions / fire etc to models. Particularly in a way that is integral to a model. Make it an alternate piece for those that like it, by all means. But don’t lumber me with some cartoony looking static effect which breaks the immersion, please.

Oh yeah that's the stuff. Feels like they skipped switching to the Orks this week because of how underwhelming the reaction has been to the Space Marines and knew they had to throw down something cool.

Also using smoke from the grenade as a support like that is a interesting notion, but all the thrusters and air displacement from his launch/landing would be scattering it all over the place in an entirely different shape. Takes me out of it, minor criticism.

Last week's reveal was the Weirdboy though?

Why's he got smoke coming out the sole of his boot? I don't understand that.

Lovely mini otherwise.

Looking forward to seeing one of the most strategically important parts of an ork force next week, grot.

He's cool, but I was wondering this myself, surely they could have used the conveniently placed vent on his leg.

They literally made an upscaled Lemartes already.

They meant something like this chaplain, not current primarinaded Lemartes with angrier visage and reaady to pounce pose

Yes that's what I meant - thank you @Jukkiz :)

First marine they've previewed from the box that's an exciting reveal, not sure why he wasn't shown first when he was the face of the whole trailer.

Overall a really nice sculpt, I don't like the Primaris jump pack flaps and leg thrusters but knew they'd be there. The only thing I that I strongly dislike seemingly along with most others is the smoke connecting him to the base; it looks daft. If the intent was to make it look like residue from a jump then they've failed at that, it looks like he's jumping over a smoke grenade that's just gone off.

No, they made a weird dude with a ball-gag and a "hug me" pose and called it Lemartes.  I wanted an upscale of this model.

The dude in the OP is not perfect but he is a lot closer to what I was hoping for.

If it weren't for the leg vents I'd be genuinely excited for this one. I can swap the jump packs easily, and I really quite like the rest of the model, finally a decent level of ornamentation, I really like his helmet and Absolver Bolt Pistol.

I do t suppose any of you have tried trimming off the leg vents before so that I know what I'm in for?

It takes two cuts from different angles using sharp side cutters/nippers you see commonly recommended for Gundam models (Godhand and other tool brands), some scraping with a knife blade and rounding things out with a sanding stick. It's actually easier than cleaning some of the other Primaris design details.

Wait really? I figured it was hollow underneath straight through.
