What characters would you like to see as models?

This is just something I thought about while looking at models. I noticed that certain characters haven’t gotten their own models or have models that haven’t been updated in years. So this topic is mainly just for us to say “I want this character as a model” whether we want them added to an army or just for display. Feel free to explain your opinions & (if you’d like) what stats/abilities you’d like to see.

 

For me, I would have to say Ciaphas Cain & his retinue. The man is amusing & I love hearing about his misadventures. I’m honestly surprised that he hasn’t gotten his own model. I’d love to have a set similar to the “Hell’s Last” set with Ciaphas, Jergen, Amelie & others.

Obviously we've had a few characterful boxes already (Hell's Last, Gaunt's Ghosts) but the recent trend of GW being happy to mix model types/factions/species in those sets (see Wardens of Ultramar, Masters of the Maelstrom, also The Blacktalons and Saviors of Cinderfall in AoS) has me hopeful we might see a few more. They could very easily do flavourful 5-6 models boxes based on several BL characters: Eisenhorn, Ravenor, Ciaphas Cain, Talos & First Claw, the Ezekarion and so on. Personally I would love to see the annual Black Library model be more along these lines, although cool standalones like Oltyx/Valgul would be good too (isn't there supposed to be a Solomon Akurra mini on the way?)

 

Then you have all the great characters from the history of the 40K game who were just removed because they didn't have official or in-production minis (as opposed to being removed because they were killed off in the lore i.e. Tycho, Xavier, Aun'Va etc): Drukhari are probably missing the most with Asdrubael Vect, Baron Sathonyx, Kheradruakh, Duke Sliscus, Urien Rakarth, even Kruellagh if you want to go back that far. For Craftworlds the obvious one is Kharandras, but also there's Iyanna Arienal and Nuadhu Fireheart who had rules in the olden days.

 

Who else have we got? Nazdreg, Zagstruk, Kaptin Badrukk (feels like a return could be on the cards for any of these with the Ork overhaul, but Nazdreg feels most likely), Doomrider. Obviously there are a bunch of Space Marines but meh, I think we have those guys pretty well covered already unless there's an option to bring the Forgeworld characters in to the main line - I'd love to see upscaled plastics for Tyberos, Asterion Moloc, and official minis for characters like Lias Issodon and Malakim Phoros to get some proper representation of more successor chapters out there. 

 

Basically, make them all. They're all cool.

Eisenhorn and company as has been mentioned above, but for less well known characters I would love to see Jarnhamar Pack from Chris Wraight's Space Wolf trilogy. They had a narrative play sheet in 8th edition when the last book was released. 

 

It would be nice to see characters from the Horus Heresy Black Books, like Autek Mor, Crysos Morturg (though he's been in the novels also), Kheron Ophion, Xiaphas Jurr and Tsolmon Khan - though kitbashing them is also really fun, and a lot of hobbyists have done great conversions.

For named, Vect and Rakarth; Vect deserves a triumphant return on his flying pimpmobile, and Rakarth's previous model, gorgeous as it is, is rare, expensive and extremely fiddly; even the metal one is a nightmare so I hear, and the Finecast one is

Aside from them I would love to see the model bereft 5E Dark Eldar characters back. Sathronyx, Sliscus etc. And Kruellagh just for giggles.

 

Other than the DE, the 3E Eldar character who rode a Vyper like a chariot whose name I forget would be very cool. Likewise Old Zogwort. For Space Marines I would say Gabriel Seth and Pedro Kantor...but I don't know if they can actually improve on the original models, those were gorgeous sculpts.

 

For generic models a sort of slave driver/overseer for CSM ala the Legion Overseer Consul would be cool as a leader for cultists. I would also like a burrowing Hive Tyrant equivalent for Tyranids; granted they could make the Trygon Prime a thing again and have it as an HQ but I feel like a Hive Tyrant size leader beast would be better, as being a bit smaller it's less of a fire magnet, and it seems like the Tyranids prefer their leader organisms smaller than their heavy hitters. A Techmarine on a bike would be cool, and even for Chapters that aren't especially bike focused would make sense for keeping up with vehicles in need of repairs without needing a whole transport of his own. Could even give him a little retinue of fast moving "moto-servitors". Necrons could use a Flayed One Lord, as even pre-Retcrons the Flayer curse could affect any Necron (albeit back then it was the far more disturbing "they're convinced they're still alive/they want to be alive again thanks to mental breakdown over the millennia so they clothe themselves in flesh to try and escape the cold metal bodies they're trapped in" rather than "a C'tan cursed them to want to eat meat"). Orks I can see a a Weirdboss being a cool concept, and likewise a "Dreddboss"- a Warboss or Big Mek who wears (permanently?) Mega Armour so Mega that it's basically a Deff Dredd.

 

Finally I feel like every faction* should have an option for an armoured vehicle HQ/command tank as a generic leader. Space Marines, whilst not traditionally fielding entirely mechanised forces, could work around it by having a command vehicle upgrades for existing transport vehicles; bring the Damocles Rhino and Land Raider Prometheus back as transports for HQ and maybe do similar variants for the Impulsor and Repulsor. Tau could have a command Devilfish variant, Eldar could have an Autarch in a sort of chariot-style skimmer, Sisters could get a sort of pulpit tank for preaching from (bonus points for a rule where they can preach over the Laud Hailers of other vehicles and thus inspire from afar without going for a full "table-wide" effect), Mechanicus could get a Magos who is essentially part of his vehicle, GSC could get a new Limo, Guard are obvious candidates and really just need rules for them, Necrons already have the Catacomb Command Barge, Dark Eldar could even get in on the fun with a luxury command skiff/"Raider Estate" for the Archon/Succubus/Haemonculus or whatever. Orks would need actual honest to Gork (or possibly Mork) tanks to begin with, mind you...

 

(Tyranids and Daemons of course are the exceptions because they don't field actual vehicles and their HQ are mostly monsters anyway.)

I have these ones. I'd really like to see an updated Vect and DOOOOOMRIDER! though.

 

Given the choice, even though I'd have to paint up a small Siam-Hann detachment to go with him, Nuadu Fireheart. 

 

EDIT: I should add, I like the udea if just one GSC character, one who goes from world to world inciting insurrection, planting the seed, and moving on to the next before the Cult rises up. Wouldn't have to be powerful, a named, Genestealer, a Primus lite, maybe. More lore than battlefield, but good for flavour.

If we're talking named characters the only person I truly want is Trazyn the infinite. Plenty of book characters would make neat models (The eponymous Elemental Council, for instance), but most of the time I think those characters are better served on the page, and I'm not a huge named character guy.

 

If the discussion is non-named characters, I'd love to see the other Water/Earth castes represented. A Water caste diplomat to buff auxiliaries, and a Earth Caste engineer to fix stuff.

I would love to see this too. It would probably go straight to Legends since he has passed in the current setting, but I would still love to have a model for the all of them. And I guess Amberly is probably still alive, so there is that.  

Similar to that vein, I would love to have an Anghkor Prok model that's not 25 years old metal and damn near impossible to find, but given the average Kroot lifespan, he was very likely also passed on the current setting so that would put him in Legends too. Actually, just getting Legends rules for him would be super cool.

 

So instead, I would love a new Kroot character as a leader of their subfaction (bonus points if the character is mounted and can make another generic leader kit with it to get a little range expansion). While it would be great just for an extra model on the table, it would also mean a bit of expansion to our lore as well which would be nice. 

 

Getting rules for Dahyak Grekh again would be nice too.

The four Tetrarchs of Ultramar, the various hangers-on of Cawl and any Big 9 Chapter Masters still without a model.  I find it weird that I can’t recall ever seeing an Imperial Fists CM model.

Taking it a step further, I’d love to see a generic multi-part Chapter Master model that could be blinged up/armed in infinite ways.

Technically two of them already have models, The 10th ed Leviathan Terminator Captain is meant to be Agemman and the 8th Dark Imperium Gravis Captain is meant to be Felix. 

 

Don't get me wrong, It would be nice to see them get better dedicated official models and I'd like to see the other two get models too, but they do arguably already exist.

 

As for who I would like to see get models? Well my first wish just got announced. I cant think of many other directly book first characters that haven't already been mentioned, but if we are talking character models that i would like to see exist. A generic Living Saint with rules for both Sisters and Imperial agents would be fantastic.

Maybe a little big for your brief, but you didn't say how big the "tank" had to be.... 

 

Looking back at the Dominatrix model, I'm struggling to decide what the weirdest part is. The odd bio-gun, the aliens-inspired throne for the actual Dominatrix or the weird fleshy samurai-style banner. I bet if they remade this with more modern Tyranid aesthetics it could look amazing, but I bet GW are too cowardly to do it just based on the name.
