I don't think they have announced it on their socials yet, but I just updated the Warhammer 40k app from the Play Store, and it shows all the new rules (including erratas not yet published on WarCom) and the new functionality to manage the battles with your friends.

The good news: the app has been translated, and the rules are shown in your own language, instead of being just in English (just the base rules for now, but I think those of the factions will follow as soon as the new codexes are released).

The bad news: the UI hasn't changed a bit. Erratas are still a separate thing from the base rules, so there's no clear advantage to using the app over referencing pdfs (or using other well-known websites). I hope this will change in the future, but at the moment I am not really optimistic about it.

EDIT: a mixed good/bad news is that I can't see any Legends units EXCEPT for the Adeptus Titanicus and Titanicus Traitoris factions. I don't know if they haven't been and won't be adedd, or if it's just dued to the fact that I have the in another language and they have not been translated.

Seems they also have a handy-dandy dedicated link for the Field Manual's points instead of having to scroll down through a PDF now, which is kinda nice.

The new version includes the unit and upgrade points values; a list of which squads your leader and support characters can join; and the Detachment Points and Force Dispositions for your detachments.   There’s also a language selector, and even a light/dark mode for those who like an especially grim dark view.  Each time the Warhammer 40,000 app updates, the online Munitorum Field Manual will update at the same time.

WarCom article.

Update: in the personal preferences there's an option to enable an errata section within the errataed rules. So, you still can't have directly the correct rules, but at leaste the back-and-forth required has been reduced.

The lightest of touches… barely a breeze. I’m not a fan of having points being the only lever for balance, in lieu of rules updates, it’s not great. To pick two units near and dear to my heart:

the venerable tactical terminator has gone down two points

Assault terminator has gone down five if you pick claws, which didn’t even get ‘melee blast’.

Not good enough, GW!

To be fair, these will only be temporary anyway till the new SM codex drops in the next 2 months

Annoyingly, vanguard veterans are the old version still, including the dmg 1 attacks. Gonna be a few weeks before I have new ones painted, but still... the others new ones are there, not sure why they missed the vans.

Cheers,

Many of the older combat patrols are gone rules wise. The space Marine one that was terminators and infernus Marines, and the previous blood Angels one with a vehicle transport, etc..

Theres been other balance changes to the existing Combat Patrols too, so for example the Necron Doomstalker comes in on round 3 now, Custodes Wardens come in on round 2, terminators on round 3.

Sucks if you're collecting Combat Patrol magazine as a lot of those combat patrols are now gone.

They all have dispositions now too.

I'm REALLY hoping this is only temporary and that all those old ones get updated and added back soon.

I wanted to test the War Journal but it doesn't seem to work on my android, I can't see the Mission Cards.
Am I the only one? Do we have to enter a code for the combat patrol mission deck to use it in the app?

Edit : I found the bug, it doesn't work in french.

This is why I firmly dislike the idea of going full app for the rules; GW having the ability to just yank rules at any moment doesn't sit right with me. Plus the app just sounds not very good.

It definitely isnt as intuitive as it should/could be.

Well GW does have a "great" track record with technology (website update, app issues, and the ever so well known.... "expert" skill in audio/visual in there preview/show events).

I think the only weapon pts breakdown in the entire T.sons army is the on 2 guns for the defiler. I need to look at other armies still, but I was hoping for more of this across the board.

So looking at this, it seems that every faction has one CP in thier entry, currently. I'm guessing they wanted at least one ready for the new edition considering the reworking of the missions and some of the rules. I only hope they add in more as time goes along.

Luckily I have a few ready.

Okay, I’ve just noticed how many of the Combat Patrols are gone. Which I guess isn’t that big of a deal. Kind of annoying in my opinion. But some of them were fairly new, right? I know the Imperial Fists don’t have a Codex, but didn’t that combat patrol come out last year? Maybe I’m missing it, but I don’t see it. They took out basically every Combat Patrol under the Space Marine codex.

I can’t even get it on my older iPad which is bloody annoying.  The previous version worked fine.

So, in some ways…fine.  I have the Vardenghast Swarm and Octavius whatsit and now Godrangs Gitstompers and 10th ed seems okay.

But it’s looking like, in some ways, it’s going the way of technology where you must constantly upgrade to feed the machine.  Not groovy man.
