I think its super unfortunate that so many recent Combat Patrol boxes got culled, but the plus side is that they actually seem to have put some effort in and reformatted the surviving ones to work better for 11th.

I'm cautiously optimistic this mode might not be awful.

Still super unclear if there's meant to be an entirely separate set of missions/rules for Combat Patrol, or if the dispositions and etc are just there so you can use the same primary/secondary  as full 40k with the new maps having similar (but smaller) formatting.

A new version of the android app was just pushed (pretty brave to release it on a friday evening). It looks like an issue with transposed secondary draws in the war journal was fixed (according to reddit), possibly other fixes too but without change logs, its hard to know.

Updated: Patch notes were listed in a post on reddit. These just have data changes, not functional changes like bug fixes, but still very interesting to see. Post at https://www.reddit.com/r/WarhammerCompetitive/s/mRx20YXWZ9

I’ve always seen combat patrol as being full 40k but with the army in a box.  I appreciate the dispositions and so on aren’t personally tailored.  In 10th we were limited to a few layouts.  I guess because of the size of the board.  I don’t see why the cards couldn’t be used.  I have the 10th ones but didn’t have a chance to use them.  We’ve only played three games so far!

On the subject of the new Combat Patrols, as previously asked - Where are these 'set missions'?

10th ed patrols already had set secondaries as I recall. I'd assume this will be similar and each patrol will have a set mission type.

There has been a lot made in the core rules and warcom of pushing people to use the app to play the game for 11th. 11th has officially dropped with the launch box today but there is no way to use the app with the 2 included forces without purchasing an out of date codex where a significant number of the units in the box aren't even included anyway. There should be a path in the app to build an army list of those 2 factions only with the units in the box. As a demo of the app if nothing else. That there isn't is a huge miss from GW. And yes I am aware there are card datasheets in the box.

You're correct, they did. Unfortunately, they aren't present in the CPs in the app, from what I've seen.

This is the complacency that breeds from having effectively a captive audience.

They know the entrenched players will wait while they bumble through getting the app updated.

It does create a very stupid pain point for New players, to whom this box seems most aligned.

Complete command group, battleline units, and cool centerpieces for both armies.

But Armageddon isn’t aimed at new players, it isn’t intended to be an introduction to the hobby. It doesn’t include dice, rulers or the typical 3-5 starter missions or ‘start here’ style booklets ; it’s also a limited time box.

The true starter sets, coming in a couple of weeks have all that junk, that established players don’t want/need.
