I looked at Command Bunker and it doesn’t seem to give a reminder to the ability of your attached unit for example. i.e. it doesn’t add litany of hate to your intercessor card whilst the Chaplain is attached as a reminder. I hope they add to Combat Patrol. where are the missions? It says under Victory that each combat Patrol scores points according to it’s mission…must be a new thing. irlLordy
I haven't seen any combat patrol specific missions yet. Given that the combat patrol detachments now have a disposition, I suspect that they're supposed to be the same as the chapter approved missions e.g. Custodes Gilded Blade (Take and Hold) vs Necrons (also Take and Hold) would play the Battlefield Dominance mission. However I'm a bit unsure about this as it requires new players to also pick up the chapter approved deck. One way round this would be to be able to select combat patrol detachments in the War Journal and it can automagically select the missions based on the dispositions of the two patrols selected, but unforunately you can't do that yet. Hopefully there will be an article soon explaining what is going on with Combat Patrol. While you can't select the CPs in the War Journal (already reported and requested) I managed a jury-rig of just making a list of the CP I'm going to use with a detachment that has the same disposition (in this case Ambush Predator for the Disruption that the Vanghast Swarm has) and will do the same for my opponent. Basically selecting the faction and a detachment that has their CP's disposition. We just don't do secondaries, which will result in a low pooint game, but that is normal with CP. irlLordy 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388094-warhammer-40k-app-update/page/3/#findComment-6176230 Share on other sites

Unfortunately the 5 Space marine Patrols and the Ork one I have don’t have a disposition. I took a guess at the Ork one but found it’s purge the foe, which would be my guess for a Tyranid one, so I’m in the dark. I’ve probably said this before but I hope they cater for us, some of us don’t have the cash to shell out for more units. There is always 10th, books and old apps on old devices Fortunately, I found a link to my mates half made patrol cards but it’s filed as an asset and we don’t have access to their assets without links. I still have the cards from the CP magazine for those. Granted 3 of the 9 are in the app currently (Nid, GSC and WE), so will have to use the cards for the rest of those at least until I get copies of the others from a certain archive. As for Dispositions I'd just use what the current faction one is that they have shown. I know this doesn't help for IK, CK, and DW, but defaulting to Purge Foe might be something to get by for now. Good luck to you on your battles. Rusted Boltgun
I'm a bit late to the party here @irlLordy and @Rowland. That means I'm tired and flustered. It is certainly vexing that the 'old' Combat Patrols have been squatted (again, for the the original Ork one?). If playing two "old' ones against one another, I guess you could use missions from 10th. But that doesn't help if you want to play the old Ork set against the new Space Marine one in the Armageddon box <sigh>. Let's hope they come back via White Dwarf / WarCom - I'm pretty sure that's how Gordrang's Gitstompas came back after the box was replaced with the Beastsnagga CP. On the subject of the new Combat Patrols, as previously asked - Where are these 'set missions'? If Combat Patrols now have a DP value and a Force Disposition associated with their detachment rules, why aren't the detachments in the available in the Battleforge? From a narrative point of view (isn't 11th all about narrative?) it would be great to grow a Combat Patrol - keep your Warlord and units with their special stats and then bolt on other units and add another 1DP or 2DP detachment as the army size grows.* Or just keep Combat Patrols as a separate thing and remove the DP value as it is irrelevant if they can only play against one a other. *I'll only be playing at home so might just do this for fun. RWJP
On the topic of Combat Patrols, I asked on Facebook whether the old ones would be coming back and got told to send GW an email at the App Feedback email address. So at the bare minimum that unfortunately means that the Social Media team haven't been told what's happening with them. I was really hoping for a bit more info as most of the Combat Patrols I own are the old ones! In relation with your worry, the Tyranids is the Vanderghast Swarm (the original from the start of 10th). Don't know if the other armies also have the version of their first boxes too. Rusted Boltgun
Thanks @RWJP, I've emailed my queries (pretty much my post above) to the app support address - I'm sure they are inundated! I've not checked to see whether the Vardenghast Swarm has adjusted from the previous version (other than gaining 1DP and a Force Disposition). Will have to check that out at some point. If there aren't any changes, I see no reason why it can't go up against older Combat Patrols if we can work out a Force Disposition for them. Then there are just the missions to sort... Rowland
I’ve written a diatribe to GW and it’s been passed to the “relevant dept”. Basically I started this 6 months ago with the 40k starter. I then discovered Combat Patrol and I realised that with a few purchases (I think it was Librarian and Barbgaunts maybe) I would have two Combat Patrols. My mate and I enjoy playing it so I expanded to 1000k but we doubt we will ever have the time or, frankly, wherewithal to play the full game (maybe one day we might). I then realised I could field several space marine combat patrols with what I have already and an impulsor and another unit or two I could field White Scars, Imperial fists, dark angels and the wolfy chaps. I’m in the enviable position of being retired whereas my mate works, has a mortgage to pay and all lifes other expenses so it’s hard to justify £80 for some plastic toys. So for me combat patrol is perfect, it takes us about 3 hours to set up, play 5 turns, pack up and so on. I then bought an Ork combat Patrol from ebay because it looked better than the current ones. Currently Combat Patrol is a right mess. The internet holds all sorts of webpages giving information. At one point I purchased the parasite of mortex (not a favourite model) because an article (maybe from a magazine) said that was what I needed for the Vardenghast swarm. As has been pointed out, the Vardenghast swarm isn’t the current Tyranids Patrol being sold as a pack yet the PDF for that is no longer available. The Vardenghast Swarm is still available as the Combat Patrol starter set along with Octavius (PDF unavailable). I managed to download the old PDFs today by searching “white scars combat patrol” and getting them from the assets directory but they’re not available directly. I’m making a fuss about this because I have a lot of plastic sitting around and can only field Tyranids in 11th and I’m now reluctant to spend more. de Selby, Rusted Boltgun and Cactus 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388094-warhammer-40k-app-update/page/3/#findComment-6176314 Share on other sites
irlLordy
I think that unfortunately Combat Patrol will be in a bit of limbo until GW updates with missions and explains what the plans for the game mode are. On the plus side though, unlike say Imperial Agents, the new Combat Patrols actually seem to have a bit of thought put into them, there are new strats, enhancements, detachment rules, and balance changes (e.g. skorpekhs now get their plasmacyte but doomstalker arrives turn 3, Custodes get to use all the units instead of choosing between wardens and terminators, etc). Theres a lot of work put in here, hopefully some of the older ones will be updated to a similar standard as well. I tentatively think this is a good sign for support going forward, but do find it odd that GW hasn't talked about it in any way, or that the game mode isn't supported yet in War Journal. Maybe saving for a big splash announcement and app update? I guess we wait and see.
