Lord Marshal
As part of the Death Mire Week 1 results. Quote It’s Space Marines! On bikes! This is a new multipart kit for the Outriders, more poseable than before and bringing new options. The sergeant in particular gets even more hitting power – now able to choose between a thunder hammer, power axe, or power sword. There’s also new cosmetic options – including being able to assemble the bikes leaning to the left or right as if taking a corner – making it easy to customise your speedy Space Marines. Mogger351
I am incredibly whelmed. What a waste of a kit imo. To have such illustrious customisation as to have the bike on a 10% tilt to the right or the left. How will anyone recover from the sher shock of a kit that is basically a hand and head swap away from the push fit. I imagined a marine holding the bike near 12 o'clock taking a shot with his pistol. O,r one with a hand on the throttle but preparing to jump off the bike. Or dragging a knee as it swung the bike around to fire. Hell, a simple wheelie would have been fun. Instead, we get Dan the dentist with the gray mustache rambling down some backroads with his Harley. jaxom, Tymell, Raziel-TX and 5 others 5 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388187-new-multi-part-outriders/#findComment-6177874 Share on other sites
Nephaston
Nice little update, not quite on the level of "you can turn every model in this kit into a character" like the exodite cavalry, but they will be useful. 5 minutes ago, Ming the Merciless said: No special weapons like ye olde marine bikers Well, these are still Assault Intercessors after all. Flaherty
How about one, just one, leaning forward as the thrill of the speed and the chase washes over them. A pose where the rider is low down to avoid a shot? The folks who design the Ork vehicles seem to really love cars. They get excited about suspensions and engine placements and the vehicles have a real feel of motion even in their cartoony proportions. I'm guessing there are not many bikers on the modeling staff. How is there not an Akira motorcycle slide pose in the kit?! Does GW hate money? darkhorse0607
This is one of those "I didn't expect much so I am not disappointed" They're fine. A bit uninspired, especially given the updates to posing on vehicles (i.e. Wazdakka, Suboden Khan, etc), but I didn't expect anything special from these Don't really understand how they're that much different from the monopose ones, so I get the complaint about why these exist Detjan, zarkkarn, Dark Shepherd and 5 others 1 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388187-new-multi-part-outriders/#findComment-6177878 Share on other sites
Evil Eye
Honestly I'm kinda fine with 'em. I'm kinda glad they're not designed around overly dynamic poses that will look incredibly obvious with repeats, and having proper multipart riders should at least make converting fancy poses easier. That said, no skull gearstick, 0/10. Indy Techwisp
Y'know, considering they show a Plasma Pistol in the article but don't actually mention it in the section talking about what's new, there could be more new options that just weren't shown. nodnol88
Valrak and Jeff Goldblum will be along any minute I’m sure. Shame they didn’t go the hover bike route but if these mean no more awful gaps like the old push fit, it’ll be a half decent upgrade. Just the new weapon options make it the kit it should have always been. Can only hope future reveals are more spicy and they chose the blandest option first, though. The Lost Son
Bodes well for the ravenwing refresh at least. I'm going to assume these were made a while back and just held regarding the lack of mad poses but I'm sure they'll be easier to get something different out off than the push fits. Crimson Longinus
Well, they technically are an improvement, and at least this means the sergeant will get weapon option in the rules. But if you have plenty of the old models, there probably is no pressing need to buy these, as you can just do a weapon swap on the sergeant. And I really hope they change the rules so that there is some reason to have a weapon other than the thunder hammer. With the "no points" era, the kits often come with wasted option that never actually get taken, and with the current rules the axe and sword would be such. StrangerOrders
On one hand... yeah... Marines are just getting slaughtered this edition. On the other hand, Sergeant has a sick mustache and can have an axe, so hey! There is something. My insanely uninspired wager is Death Company treatment for Ravenwing and sick bespoke models for Ravenwing Knights (so... Deathwing all over again and that's not a complaint). It'd be nice to be excited about an SM unit this release tbh, and I still have hope for the multi-part Vanguards, but these ain't it. Ramell
These should have been out with the 9th ed C:SM, but at least they get some of the newer armour changes. One of the models has the integrated kneepad-greave legs for example. I also like the mustache head. Winged helmets, winged bike heads (I am not a biker and I think I might have just killed one with that descriptor), tabards, emblazoned armour and sick pickaxes (swords are just an option for the dead inside, much like DWK swords)? Thats arguably how alot of units in most ranges are when you get down to it. A Deathwing Knight is arguably a Terminator but with a sick helment, tabard and weapon. A Dire Avenger is also a guardian with a bigger helmet and technologically inflicted multiple personality disorder. Not saying you are wrong mind you about what might happen, but pretending they dont have alot of uniqueness other than the simple fact of riding a bike isn't really fair. I genuinely care very little about the plasma guns, they are fun and powerful but aren't really what makes or breaks it identity by any means to me.
