I do like this dude as a generic Ork Warboss... but this art feels substantial:

Some sort of semblance to that would have cheered me up.

Rules aren't very corpulent in their theme. He's just a hard nosed taskmaster, which is disappointing.

I feel quite the opposite. I hate that artwork and I am glad they went a different direction with him. The gun still feels proper Moony without looking, well, stupid.

Guess my tentative decision to start bad moonz with this edition got rewarded.

Also nice to see th simultaneous Total War announcement, let's hope this is the first of many "this guy? Yeah we got them in plastic and in video game form"

Between this and the MPK Boyz I'm really tempted to start some Bad Moons myself. I love Mega Armour, and this might be my favorite Mega Armour ork yet. If we get new Meganobz I'm probably pushing the button

Looks absolutely stunning. Bad Moons have always been my favourite clan. Maybe it's time to start some Orks...

The people working on the Ork refresh deserve a raise. They are hitting home run after home run.

i don't hate that artwork, but i do think it falls into the category of art-that-would-not-make-good-models, feel quite a lot of old school stuff (much of it that i love) falls into that.

but anyway, as someone that will look to use him as Not-Nazdeg, the random Bad Moon warlord, I'm glad they went the direction they did.

Am I reading it right that he shoots with all three weapon profiles, or this the new wording of choosing one of those options?

You are reading correctly, those are listed as separate weapons, and not as separated profiles of the same weapon, so he can shoot all of them at the same moment.

I like him, but we're definitely seeing the de-goofy-ification of the Orks. Much more serious.

Agreed. Whilst the "realistic Orks as scary beasts" design aesthetic of the recent models is excellent and I do like them, I also miss the more "goofy" and "characterful" "comic relief" aspects of the old (late 1990's) design aesthetic. Yes, that's a contradiction, and I'm sticking with it

As long as Orks call their unit champions "nob" I don't see the point in making less goofy

Anyway, GW didn't have to do a literal translation of the classic art, but they could have at least taken some ques from it. A power claw that is more pincer shaped for example.

It is a difficult line to tread. I know the most recent Yarrick was very popular, but I thought it stayed too close to the previous incarnation. The new Nazdreg could maybe have stayed a tiny bit closer -- but yeah, well, that's just, like, my opinion, man.

The key thing is, what is it about that new Nazdreg that shows it to be a Nazdreg representation?

If GW never told us it was Nazdreg, everyone would just say "oh good new Warboss".

Yeah, a specific recreation of the old Blanche art would likely be overkill, but I wish they'd brought in some of Nazdreg's character more than anything. His most important traits since the Cretaceous Perio - er, that is to say, the 1990's - are that he is ostentatious, overweight, brilliant and somewhat lazy. This model barely attempts to communicate one of those. GW's become very good at modeling a combination of girth and strength, exemplified by the wildly fun new AOS Ogres, and I would've loved to see some of that design language ported over into this model.

Both the Flamer and the Rockitlauncher on the previewed Boyz Datasheet had fixed Attacks. Maybe that's the New Standard for those weapons  in 11th.

I hope so. they changed scatter lasers from D6 attacks in 3rd to 4 in 4th. Less random rolling over what are likely inconsequential attacks will speed the game up - below average hits as base then above average hits if the unit has 5+ is decent.

Not rolling for every burna and rokkit launcher will be appreciated.
