Hello all, longtime "guest-browser" and I've finally gotten around to getting myself settled here at B&C.

My intentions with this thread is to document the works in progress and workshopping lore snippets. Finished pieces; both any writings and completed miniatures will end up on my blog. Now, my hobby-process is glacial, so this will be a slow moving journey. Although perhaps that is perfectly thematic for the shambling forces of Grandfather Nurgle. I don't particularly play the game on the tabletop, so this is just going to be a lot of hobby.

I'll drop some photos below, hopefully these photos come out clear - I had to do some rescaling to fit in the 1.95mb file size limit.

Always happy to chat hobby, C&C welcome. Enjoy.

Plague Champion, clad in MKII Crusade Plate corrupted by centuries of warp exposure.

Plague Marine, also clad in warped Crusade Armour. I really love the old forgeworld upgrade parts, a real shame they're out of production. The Severed heads are taken from the even older forgeworld Terminator upgrade kit for 40k.

Of the three I have to kick this thread off, this marine is the least complete of the bunch. The third edition chaos codex was a huge inspiration, as you can probably tell by the snarling vox-grille and curving horns. The helmet itself is from the old forgeworld Khorne Berserker upgrade, though I replaced the "bunny ears" with some horns from the old blightking kit.

Looks great. Absolutely love almost monochrome color scheme and conversion.

Glad you like them! These rotten sods aren't quite ready for painting just yet, a lot of that you can see is liquid greenstuff & texture paints. I'll attach a pic of a painted member of the Warband for you to feast your eyes upon.

This is my Chaos Lord Dis - and whilst not the Astartes in overall command, he's up there!

Sick, literally!

Deep kitbashing like this is pure eye candy for me.

Amazing.

Thankyou! I'm glad you like it.

Just shot you a quick follow on Instagram too as I saw it linked in your profile

Beautiful work! Have seen your work on Instagram and am glad to see it here :)

Hey, thankyou! I'm hoping to be posting more here on B&C, I like using instagram for the high-res pictures I can post, but the 2,000 character limit on descriptions there can feel a bit limiting & If I'm posting unfinished work I like to talk about it.

Simply stunning, a polar opposite of the (imo) goofy looking and clean official plague marines. Downright terryfing!

You started quite strong @Dark_Isles, well done!

Thank you both!

I'm super pleased with my Infested Warband so far, I'm really trying to nail down an aesthetic I like, right now its landed on a sort of swampy-water or "gone-off meat" green with some little flashes of lighter colours - like mold growing - sort of scheme, slightly seperated from the "traditional" Deathguard green. In place of the huge swollen organic stomachs and sausage-link entrails, i'm going for a sort of trypophobic direction with lots of open pores, holes, wounds, cracks, and really nasty textures mixed with a more industrial aesthetic.

I'm definitely enjoying it a lot more instead of the fantastical "evil space druid" look a lot of the modern Deathguard have.

Hopefully I can update this thread at somepoint - probably tomorrow - with some of the Chosen in Terminator-Plate for your view pleasure.

In the mean time, I have these, unpainted despite being ready for paint for the past six or so months. I've called them The Kin and they have zero tangible application for the tabletop, however, I remember seeing the new Blightking release and simply had to get them. Not playing an AoS force, I decided they'd make some nice beefed up cultist types. Generally these minis were a pleasure to put together and equally easy to convert - I had lots of fun putting these together without any sort of plan or intention.

It was a lot of fun blending the high-fantasy medieval aesthetic of AoS with the grim industrial 40k. I think it gave them a nice sprinkle of that flavour you see in many modern deathguard kits.

Makes you wonder, with the AoS maggotkin and 40k's deathguard all being updated - will the demons be next?

They look like they jumped straight out of a piece of John Blanche's artwork ...

High praise indeed! Thankyou.

Adrian Smith is my go-to inspiration. His illustrations from the Chaos Space Marine codexes are incredible.

Not much to update on with this guy, he's basically ready for paint but I think I want the full squad ready to go before I prime anything.

Trying to think of a suitably grim sounding name for this circle of chaos veterans at the helm of the warband.

When this squad is done, then I need to start thinking of the chaos lord who leads this merry-band of rotting psychopaths.

Hope you're all well and would love to hear your thoughts - or any ideas for the name of this group of veterans.

I will try and snap some other angles of this brute as well, so apologies for the brief lackluster amount of pictures!
