That’s been a consistent high point for me and my eight-year-old, going in and grabbing a free mini every month to build and slap paint all over . I think a lot of stores were already requiring you to build the free mini in-store, presumably so there has to be at least a little bit of commitment from the person and so they can't immediately go and hawk it on Ebay. Not all stores went that route, but it seemed like it was increasingly common - probably as a push from on-high. Also, I was quite sure that something like this would happen; it would be weird to simply end the project with no replacement and I'm sure giving out a little plastic pays off (especially if you actually have to spend a little time in the store). That was only because the stars aligned and my son happened to be passing a store on the day. There have been a few I would consider but I have commitments on the weekend so will never make it. It is a little frustraiting but not the end of the world. If it was available for the week I might be more inclined to go instore on a lunch break and possibly even pick a paint or two up at the same time. I tried to entice family members with me to grab the Scout, but for some reason women don't want to hang out in line outside in a hot and humid Saturday morning (with no shade). Weird, huh? I don’t go in for them because I don’t need 1/N of a unit and then my shopping experience (if I happen to go in the day they release) for a single pot of paint (or whatever) becomes totally derailed by massive queues of people who aren’t actually going to spend any money. I think I only ever got one on the Saturday it dropped once, and that was on accident. I missed the last Ork boy, that was gone early in day of. I can honestly say I've never seen a single queue for a mini of the month in the 3-5 years it's been running, but if many stores are using big line ups, I'd say the scheme has been an outrageous success! Especially since there are likely to be present numerous beginning modellers, who may be prone to using excessive amounts of plastic glue (to the detriment of their models). At home, I do not use any plastic glue, super glue or super epoxy inside - only on my decently ventilated balcony. The only glue I use indoors is PVA, which is water-based. As for waiting in line, I'm not made of money and I understand the appeal of free stuff as well as anybody, but at some point I think if you spend hours to get something, the phrase "time is money" becomes relevant to the conversation. Valantine Posted September 5 Share Posted September 5 Apparently its being replaced by 8 models that will be in stock and available throughout the year, 4x40k and 4xSigmar. For 40K there will apparently be a Cadian guardsman, Chaos Legionnary, Necrno warrior, and I think the 4th was a Votann but it was so busy in the store I struggled to hear. For Sigmar, its a skeleton, chaos warrior, gutripper, and something else. Supposedly they are going to be rotated every year.
