Vassakov
I mean, I doubt it. It's possible we'll get a custom Bjorn/SW Redemptor but I think that it is more likely we keep the existing kit. Bjorn being the last of the Castaferrum dreads left in the game has a poetic touch to it, let's be fair. I also think that the Wolves have been sufficiently flanderised in 40k that the idea of a non-wolf creature being featured on their models is essentially 0. Griefbringer
1 hour ago, Verbal Underbelly said: Kislev. They certainly do have some associations with bears, but there are also others - like wood elf beast handlers with their trained bears. And more significantly, some of the Norse tribes have associations with bears and were-bears. Good old Dogs of War army book even had Beorg Bearstruck and the Bearmen of Urslo - quite a unit name to bear! Of course, it might be also a cunningly disguised WH40K hint - maybe the Word BEARers will have a chance to get a word out in near future? That said, WH40K has Space Wolves as one of the most popular marine chapters. Perhaps the sales team has decided that it is time to piggyback with their success and release a new space marine chapter called .... Space Bears! Hailing from the frosty planet of Ursa, these giant hairy barbarians can beat foul xenos with their bare arms, before heading for a beer in a bar. Though given a chance, they prefer to strap Bear Claws to their armour, better to purge the unclean. Units of interest may include Grizzly Gunship, Bearserkers, Bear Priests, Lightning Bear Cavalry and Bear Guard Terminators. And of course we should be prepared to see mighty new special characters such as Ursus the Killer, Varg the Left-handed and Björk Born. Get ready for the Bear-hour! I will get my goat now, these puns are maybe too much to bear... Northern Walker
Bjorn is clearly slated for a new model, so maybe it is, but I'm very sympathetic to folk wanting Kislev and other interesting minis instead. There's also a chance Bjorn goes off to legends for a while, which would be sad but 'ol Murderfang and the venerable dread absolutely are on the chopping block. Orange Knight
Bjorn is too iconic and too important to be retired to legends, and for that same reason he can't be left to languish in a Dreadnought that is dwarfed by other variants in the range. I think this is a Bjorn teaser, but Kislev would be absolutely awesome and I know they would be popular. Griefbringer
8 hours ago, Hfran Morkai said: I'm sure you're already aware that 'Beserker' translates to 'Bear-Shirt'. That seems to be considered a likely interpretation, though otherwise the historians seem to be still figuring out details about the Viking berserkers - the material available in sagas leaving quite some gaps on details. As for the possible Space Bears chapter, maybe they will also get Bear-rage Artillery Batteries, as well as Kyborg-bears with big guns (the chapter having by ancient edict "the right to arm bears"). Then again, I have totally overlooked the possibility of Cthellean Cudbears making a return. These vicious purple-furred carnivores originating from the Cthelle Death World were covered in the original Rogue Trader book (page 210). Despite their cudly looks, they were described as ruthless killers with long rending talons and gaping tooth-filled mouth. Not to mention a rather strong stat line. All things worth to bear in mind if you planning to visit Cthelle for any reason. That said, they were also highly territorial and not described as particularly social animals, so not likely to be encountered in large numbers naturally.
