Custodes should be T6 and T7.

It would be silly for a bolter to wound them only on a 6 and for plasma and melta to wound their basic infantry on a 5...

Bolters would hurt guard on 5s and terminators on 6s. Custodes have physical adaptations and equipment beyond that of a space marine. If you want to show that then if you already hurt a marine terminator on a 5 and they have the same save, the bolter must wound on a 6 naturally.

This is how nine marines feel about the marine changes, welcome to the club. That's exactly how a hotshot lasgun works now into marines and terminators.

Custodes aren't THAT tough in the lore compared to Marines.

They are stronger and faster, yes, but their power comes from their superlative training and intellect as much as it does their physical attributes.

T9 and T10 basic infantry units that can't be efficiently wounded even by Power Fists, Plasma and Melta doesn't make sense to me.

Plague marines will be moving to t7 with t8 terminators logically, they won't be efficiently wounded by standard plasma any more, is that OK?

What makes you think Plague Marines will be T7? You're assuming everything is moving up.

There are other ways to give them durability.

If everything moves up, then there's no point in anything moving up lol

Why wouldn't they move up when they're in power armour and they're putting power armour toughness up?

Some choice quotes from yourself:

"I personally think that a shake up was very much overdue. When vehicle/monster toughness and weapon strength started exceeding the value of 10, in combination with how wounding rolls work since 8th, I always felt that the stat ranges for infantry were too limited."

"Sure, but you're suggesting that a new edition needs to be balanced against an old edition. That's a limitation that could work counter to any significant devopment of rules and ideas."

So lets have significant development of rules, lets have t7/8 deathguard and t9/10 custodes. The fetters are off now, the numbers are massaged outside of in-setting consistency so that numbers match factional power fantasies.

I asked in the marine thread what would be "too far" and the answer seems to be when anything not a basic marine gets a notable adjustment.

You're twisting what I said. A bad faith argument.

We've seen that the Heavy Bolter didn't increase in strength.

You shouldn't simply expect things to get a +1 across the board. This clearly hasn't been the case in all things.

Perhaps the Death Guard will get their FNP back or something else will happen. I'm not making any regimented predictions.

Custodes have undergone a similar reputation inflation to Marines since the humble days of RT. So it wouldn’t surprise me if Custodes got some mix of bonuses to Toughness, FNP, Saves etc.

I agree with Orange Knight that stuff like Plague Marines might not get a straight Toughness boost…but I would be extremely surprised if they don’t get something.

This rumour is phoney as hell. Not even close to what I hear about changes to the custodes profile. No mention of move speed going up and an absurd boost to toughness... Yeah it's baloney.

I think t7 custodes with m8 would be pretty neat. Same gap in t compared to marines as marines are to humans, faster movement to show their general speed.
