I thought I didnt have enough Custodes. With these stats, I might have too many!

 

Also, Allarus Custodians come is squads of 2-3 now...

Aquilons are a bit better than the new regular custodes, but still inferior to the previous resin version.

 

I guess this means with the double 30k/40k boxing, combat patrol and codex art, we will see the old Custodian Guard set withdrawn.  That's a shame.  At least the Wardens will stay.

The new terminators kinda suffer from HH Cataphractii small power hand syndrome and they are very static.

I play custodes, and I won't be breaking down the door on pre-release day, anyway.

And yet custodes immediately getting massive toughness buffs straight after loyalist Marines getting them indicates that most armies will be all going up 

We now have infantry just as tough as nid monsters or dreads with makes absolutely no sense at all it's a pathetic joke

Honestly I'm actually kind of impressed by a number of things here: making the model line "official" for both systems, expanding the 40K roster to include units that were previously Heresy only, and implementing changes that should significantly reduce the number of minis fielded in a game (and therefore reduce the cost of playing the army) are all very unlike the GW of the last ten years or so.

If they didn't go up in toughness the Marines would be out tanking them now.

I don't think it indicates that most armies will be going up in toughness, based on the words of the two guys hosting this show, they are making an effort to bring the game into being more in line with the lore, which is something quite a few people on these boards have lamented.  I do believe we'll get something for the Death Guard that makes them tankier; whether it's EVEN MORE toughness or if it's the re-introduction of our FNP, something will happen for CSM.

 

We have plenty of stories of the Custodes being super super humans. Hell, we have plenty of lore accurate (As far as anything is lore accurate) stories of Space Marines taking down Tyranid 'monsters' (kinda nebulous, tbh) solo.  So a custodes terminator at T8 (still being wounded on a 5 by Bolters) doesn't seem insane.  It's definitely STRONG, but these are paragons of humanity, they should be.

I really am happy to see stat increases across the game for a broader range.

 

I do find it amusing Custodes power talons are S6 vs Guardian Spears that also have 6 attacks each at S8!

It looks like The Athema Psykana Rhino might be the last thing listed on the Datasheet index... it's kinda hard to make out.

It is very odd that they were so cagey about if these new stodes would be 40k compliant when they all launched. 

 

I think this is the right decision. And it also gives people an in to both 30k and 40k without having to buy and paint 2 seperate armies which is good to.

The new models are proportioned very differently from the 1st generation Custodes models. It really feels like a Stormcast 1.0 to 2.0 evolution.

 

I would need to see how the codex pans out. If I do invest, I wouldn't be mixing the old and new models together.

 

One exception would be Trajan Valoris... I had painted the model up for fun but recently sold him on Ebay. Bad move in hindsight

In fairness I don't think they were cagey, people just didn't believe them when they said they would be because of past trauma over things like the Kratos being non-Legends for all of five minutes.

Not a fan of these guys, they look like they were designed for the last versions of custodes, big and puffy with the shin designs. The new ones are more svelte with plain greaves, kind of like how it seemed like the 2019 chaos terminators were made for the previous scale and design of legionaries, but looked odd next to the new 2019 csm box

One of my favourites as a kid. The villagers removing and then re-armouring a terminator as easily as they would a medieval knight is so far removed from current lore. It's a shame something like that couldn't be written anymore.
