I get the impression I'm the only one that really likes the Aquillon Terminators.

Yes, they are static looking, but in a way that makes them look regal and sophisticated.

I even like their proportions...

Sure but can anyone answer me why they are painting them copper? Is this what lore says? The copper does not look like gold, and it does not look like bronze, and it reminds me of those plastic toys that look like they were trying to be metal, and copper at that. I'd say it's not befitting a custode.

While it's true that in reality most 'gold' branded paints are closer to copper or bronze, if you told most people to go and pick out a gold paint they'd immediately reach for Retributor Armour or similar. I don't think it's much more complicated than that.

If GW suddenly started painting gold using Vince Venturella's now semi-famous gold recipe, a lot of people would be asking 'why are Custodes brass instead of gold now? Are GW stupid?'

Honestly I'm actually kind of impressed by a number of things here: making the model line "official" for both systems, expanding the 40K roster to include units that were previously Heresy only, and implementing changes that should significantly reduce the number of minis fielded in a game (and therefore reduce the cost of playing the army) are all very unlike the GW of the last ten years or so.

Agreed. Small armies have the side-effect of being more attractive to collect due to the lower time and cash investment. I hope this won't lead to the absurd situation that armies that should be rare by lore will be extremely commonplace in practice and vice-versa for horde armies.

Well that laready is the case and does happen. They need to make horde elements represented by other means such a recycling units that keep coming back or units that repopulate as the game goes on.

A faction where you need to spend 4 times as much to get a game ready, alongside 4 times as long building and painting, where in the current climate you exist to have them die a lot and achieve little individually is a tough sell honestly.

Space Marines, despite their small number in the background, have been rather heavily represented on the table top since time the early days of 40K. Besides needing limited numbers, they have also been quite straightforward to model and paint, if you wanted to keep things quick and simple.

Why does Trajann have more hard-hitting attacks than both loyalist Primarchs?

He won the blood games twice, something no one else has ever done.  In lore he's considered to be a potent fighter the equal of primarchs, and is considered the deadliest single warrior in the entire Imperium.

He's been glazed a lot of in the Custodes lore, so I think his statline should be pretty impressive.

It sort of sits in the middle iirc? More powerful than the Primarchs sweep (ignoring dev wounds on the sword for gman) and worse but more numerous than the smash profile. That said it does seem a bit much, but given a standard spear is s8 ap-2 d2 6 attacks, I don't think their "primarch equivalent unit" ala ghaz having that profile is *that* wild. After a look it's probably worse than ghaz who has S14, cleave 2, dev wounds and only 2 fewer attacks.

Ghaz, the "PrimeOrk," should be on a similar level to the Primarchs. We know from established lore that the Orks can attain increible power.

The Custodes are great, but I have never seen any lore that put any of them on equal ability to any Primarch.

In the novel "The Silent King" the Custodian who protects Guilliman, a master warrior by the name "Colquan," spends time practicing drills for defeating Guilliman in combat, and he admits that he is unable to do so under any scenario that involves a direct confrontation.

I don't think it matters, his current profile is 6 attacks S10 ap-2 d3 and we know custodes are getting the "becoming more elite" treatment, so the only way to go is up. I don't see why the head of the custodes being a singular step down from a primarch and close in stature to ghaz is an issue.

Reminder that a human with a power klaw has beaten ghaz in the past, he was recently decapitated by ragnar with a relic chainsword. If that's on par with a primarch this is fine for Trajann.

Valdor was essentially 1 half step down from Primarch in combat skill, but didn't have all the mental hangups that the Primarchs did.

We know that Valdor dueled a young Alpharius in Alpharius: Head of the Hydra and in The Master of Mankind,  it says Valdor "was considered an equal of the primarchs themselves in matters of blade-work."

The current Captain-General is no King in Yellow Valdor, but Valoris

should be able to wipe the floor with anyone short of the Lion in the 40k setting.

Some more sus rumours doing the discord rounds

image.pngI can assure you with Trajan having a stat line comparable to a Primarch, he will absolutely not be below 300 points at “minimum”

That alone should have put alarm bells in peoples heads to the dubiousness of these rumours.

3 days ago the lion as 335 points.

So these rumors are all porkies.

We can extrapolate and make educated guesses for characters like Valdor. I would imagine:

M8, T7, 2+ 4++, W9, LD5+, OC1

His axe would be 7 attacks, Str10, Ap-3, Damage 3, Lethal Hits

If you look at the Power Talon on the Aquilon, it doesn't have a crazy profile, and if you look at Marines not all weapons balooned in power.

Review copies sent out to 3rd parties are provisional points costs, they are not final, never are.

But the OP of the Custodes rumours has come out to admit all of it was made up and fake.
There shouldn’t be a further debate on it past that.
