Vow 4- Deffkoptas

Spoiler

I don't really like the Deffkoptas as models, so I used them to test some different AK effects. They turned out meh, but I'm satisfied with them.

As a side note, I really wanted to participate in "Tanksgiving" this year, but the only unbuilt "vehicle" keyword I have right now is a Gorka/Morkanaut. So... ORKTOBER CONTINUES RIGHT INTO NOVEMBER!!!

GORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKAGORKAMORKA!!!!

I looked at the rules today while the Warhammer Manager was looking at my super-awesome-mega-unstoppable-nighmare of a tank. Apparently you can also field a MONSTER at Tanksgiving.

So you do have that option.

I guess that makes sense for factions that don’t have vehicles.

Like Tyranids... and.... uh...

Excellent job on the Orks, that's an impressive achievement cranking out all those models and making them look amazing!

Vow Complete

Kaptin Amorkrika (or is it Agorkrika?) has been spotted on Armageddon. Considered a lucky omen amongst the superstitious Greenskin forces, he further inspires a Waaagh by leading from the front and getting stuck in as soon as possible.

Well first off, I applaud all of you that completed the challenge.  I failed.  I won't give ten million excuses, however I learned a lot.  I am a really slow painter but I had quite a bit of fun working on these orks and I will continue to finish them.  I discovered that these ork models have quite a bit going on and at every turn I discovered a spot I should have already painted or another mold line that I missed.   One of the biggest challenges is just becoming familiar with what I'm painting, meaning is this little piece armor or clothing, and trying to figure out what some of the equipment was and should be painted.  Thanks again to everyone for sharing your progress and inspiring me.

Although this wasn't my vow, last weekend I had a tournament. As such, I got my boss on looted carnifex and big Mek painted up.

I am however, still a grot lol

Another pic. Great fun to paint but despite being red, could successfully make a single charge roll across 3 games. He did krump angron though after taking over 60 wounds lol. He also all but did Bobby g too. Krumpy joys.

I may be alone in this, but I love transfers. So back banners are my jam. I had to keep myself from putting even more on it!

I discovered too late that the Armageddon transfer sheet doesn't have freebooterz icons, unlike the previous ork clans sheet. So I've ordered some to do the rest of the Armageddon box, and I might backport a couple to my first unit later, once I track down my microsol! I'm been using sculpted pads for so long, I've kinda forgotten how to use them...

I'm in awe of those who completed vehicles and multiple vows - yours in particular! - one squad in 3 weeks turned into a bit of a death march for me in the last couple of days, there's always one more fix or bit of detail or freehand to do, and I'm absolutely a martyr for 'one more thing' that you can barely even see on the tabletop, in addition to being a slow painter - in hindsight, freebooterz was a bold choice! So having a hard deadline to finish was definitely helpful. Tone Pro turned out to be really handy at the end, being able to put down a yellow to fix dodgy freehand that actually covers and hides brush strokes was particularly useful.

I learned a lot from doing my squad (including finally an ork skin recipe I'm happy with), and I've had an absolute blast, more fun than I've had in ages - I want to paint another squad immediately, which is *very* rare for me. Though I think I'm gonna do the Armageddon grots for a hopefully simpler challenge, just need to print some pirate grot heads... I might also revisit the basing scheme - it's what I planned, and is 'fine' - but it feels like it's missing something, so I might experiment if I can tweak it a bit for the next batch. I refuse to put grass growing in Armageddon's blasted ash wastes on principle, so I'll need to find something else to add a little verticality/tone variety. I also need to decide what to convert the next boyz nob with - I hear kombi-skorchas are all the rage...

Honestly, doing a Freeboota Ork army is impressive by itself. Especially because GW doesn’t seem to want to help you accomplish it at all!

This made me laugh. Basing is definitely one of my weak spots.

What a great challenge and fun to see the flurry of models over the last few days.

Thank you @Grotsmasha for hosting and thank you to everyone who took part, I've gained a lot from looking at the different ideas and techniques people have used.

@Havoc totally get it, I'm not quick like some of the guys here. I'm in awe of the likes of @space wolf 's conversions.

@Jolemai your Kaptin is hilarious and @Brother Lutheriel that is a serious number of models too, it took me ages to paint my Deffkoptas.

There are so many other great models in the preceding pages too. Not much more to say other than "Waaaaaaargh!!!!"
