I sense a future thread... it's murky... I'm getting bits...  it sounds like:

Do you think the Warhound Titan will be a Legends Only unit in 40k?

I don't think it'll be Legends, but it will just be so expensive in points (as it is currently) that it's not viable to run it. Kinda like how competitive Knight lists nearly always end up being Armiger spam.

At least until when (if) Titan Guard get 40k rules.

Can confirm. I played against a list that was two Warglaives, a Navigator, a Valiant and a Warhound.

Now, I will say that I was just at the store, but I had my league list of Shadow Legion Monster Mash. I did bad things to the poor Titan... specifically, charged it with a LoC to really crimp it's shooting, then had the Bloodthirster do 31 damage in a single combat phase.

The Titan then died to failing a Battleshock test whilst within my Shadow of Chaos. My opponent took it like a champ.

Attempts at educated price guess:

1.) The current UK price for a resin Warhound titan with two weapon arms is around £590. One educated price guess for a plastic version would be roughly half of that (£295).

2.) Or perhaps it might be end up costing twice the price of a plastic knight? Depending on model, they are currently priced at £120/125/134 - twice that would be in £240-270 range.

3.) Or maybe it might be ten times the price of an Epic scale version (typical price ratio between Epic/LI and big HH scale models)? Those are currently costed at £51 for a pair - halving that for a single model and then multiplying by ten would give £255 as price estimate.

[Whatever the price, I intend to skip it as impractically large - not to mention that I still have a couple of Epic sized versions bending assembly.]

I'm going to need to get another resin one before the run out.

As a resin loving snob, this is the way.

I must also have a certificate and the metal grill for the top.

Can't see either happening with a plastic version.

Also, not sure about the weapon/magnet setup compatibility between resin and plastic versions, not worth the risk...

The only upside to me with plastic is there will be transfers, those are the missing link for us snobs.

I love the slight irregularities with resin, gives a 10,000 year old vibe right from the beginning of ownership.

Edit: looking more carefully I can see the grill in plastic, that's that then.

I played against one a bit back in 40k. Emperor's children defilers got within touching distance pretty quickly and it wasn't pretty.

Played against two in heresy and sunkillers and friends soon sorted them out.

If they're bringing them in as "affordable" minis, their rules need a boost.

One option is to use them with the Adeptus Titanicus rules - just multiply all the distances by four to account for the biggier size of the models. All you need for a small game is three warhounds per player, plus a smallish car park for a playing arena.

The price???

Price is unlikely to be an issue for a true resin loving snob.

I hope it's real. It'd be a lovely model to build and have on display. I find it difficult to work with superglues due to motor control and plastic is more forgiving for a clutz like me.

I might even paint it.

No, don't be daft. Of course I won't!

Does it fit on a defiler base or will it need an even bigger one?

Fun times. I don't even want a plastic warhound and even I kind of want a plastic warhound. We've been talking about this since Apocalypse 1. I wonder if they are building up to giving it rules for the knights mini-game they have been putting in White Dwarf?

Fingers crossed for bio-titans.

Defiler comes with a 160 mm round base, which might look a bit small for a Warhound. Though a lot depends on how widely the legs are spread.

The epic version, which is one-quarter in size, is supplied with a 80 mm round base, though might fit on a bit smaller one depending again on how the legs are posed.

And Calgar is piloting it!

Warhound does not have an armament option for twin power gloves (or even just one), only shooty weapons.

For a proper "two-fisted" ride for a Calgar, you would need a Reaver, or even more preferably, a Warlord class titan.

I'm weirdly not super excited for this at all, maybe that will change. I wonder if this was designed by SG or the main studio (if SG, I'd prefer they spend their time on core units for their games, but they tend to do a great job with these larger kits).

It will be nice to see such an iconic unit become more accessible for the masses though. I'll probably pick one up and paint it up as Fureans to go alongside my EC

How many livers do you have, Mutant?

The last I checked, all good Astartes have three kidneys, two hearts and one liver.

No idea, though I would expect it to be partially based on an upscaled version of the plastic epic scale warhound (by SGS), with some components split into multiple parts and additional detail thrown in. Would need good sprue shots for a proper comparison.

Or you use HH rules were titans are fun and engaging for both sides of the table.

Playing 40k means no fun units allowed and everybody knows it. It's to farm money so that they can run the fun games.

If you truly want to play models by looks and not by crunch you look at other games than the golden goose of the games workshop universe.

I'm definitely not getting one, but I guess it'll be fun to see lots of warhounds floating about for a while.

Maybe a defiler base for each foot.

But yeah, 160mm will be way too small.

Quick google says 280mm oval for 3rd party bases. current FW Warhound has no base.

Yeah resin will always be cool. I don't think the plastic detail is going to be as crisp as this

There will be no being around Valrak after this is confirmed. Ill be able to hear the "vindication" across the Atlantic

"Vindication?"

There are people who work for GW who leak photos and info to friends, but who don't immediately create their whole persona about it and start sharing photos they've been asked not to, online. Testing for the sprues was earlier in the year and a lot of people have known about it for a long while.

Someone was asking about the copyright date on the sprues and I don't know if it's been addressed. I'm pretty sure it's 2026. Valrak zoomed in on a few parts in his video and while I don't think he specifically mentioned it, you can make out some of the info in the edges.

Anyway, this looks cool! The warhound is my least favorite of the titan classes, but still, a plastic kit should be wildly popular. And maybe we'll get some other plastics in the coming years!

I imagine if they try to shoe-horn it into the normal game, it will be the flavor of the year then properly nerfed after all the main sales per GW norm. But here is hoping some sort of supplement and return to APOC that isnt what was presented in the end of 10th iron warrior books. I would love to see an update to the 3rd edition apoc ruleset that was completely independent from the core rules and designed for a simpler and quicker ruleset for large games.

That was me who asked about the copyright, thanks for the help, I couldn't make out anything
