Yeah I've never understood the people that go "Oh well I WOULD have bought this mini but seeing as it's in resin I'll pass" as if using superglue is some kind of dark art.

It is not the superglue that is the problem so much as the price. A FW Warhound weighs in at £600 once you include the arms. That is too much for me to justify for a shelf queen. We haven't heard about prices yet but I am hoping that the plastic one will come in under half of that.

I find superglue to not be a 'dark art', just more frustrating and time consuming than plastic glue. I mean I can pretty much build GW's plastic mini's on autopilot. I can crank out a Rhino in 20 minutes. Yet a resin character can be an all day job.

Aledari Players: Can we have our missing Phoenix Lord?

Space Marine Players: Can we have the Rhino/Land Raider kits updated as the molds are shot?

Grey Knight Players: Can we have our refresh now?

Astra Militarum Players: Can we have plastic kits for numerous missing regiments, or even just upgrade sprues or anything for Catachan?

Drukhari Players: Can you just stop :cuss:ing us over?

Games Workshop: Best I can do is something completely unnecessary and ridiculously large

Actually most of these are rumoured for next year I believe, I mean the sm vehicles would fit in fine as 40th anniversary releases. Actually only one of these currently doesn't have rumours is the guard regiments (apparently they're only getting one).

So GW is capable of giving the different armies what they want... Just no promises on the quality of those releases (looks in the Blood Angels direction)

It already is part of 40k, the keywords are Imperium and Adeptus Titanicus and I wouldnt be surprised if they gave access to this to Chaos and just sell a conversion kit for more chaotic leg and shoulder plates.

There's already a chaos rules right there in the pdf you linked.

I'll eat some down votes to say that guard have had plenty. Yes the catachans are a travesty atm, but maybe they should have sorted that instead of krieg and having to panic promise steel legion.

Marines of all factions are not lacking for anything really. I'll bet a reasonable wager that when the new rhino/land raider turn up they'll probably be criticised for something.

Eldar aren't in great peril waiting for 1 character, its weird and sucky he was missed but you can safely assume that's an easy 1 model release this edition.

Drukhari and grey knights are legitimate complaints in my eyes, but I don't see why a likely 30k branded mini is of any real impact to them.

In terms of the base, the models on display in the Forgeworld shop at Warhammer World have a smaller, separate base under each foot. It could be the way they go for this one and then use the usual rule about measuring to the model and ignoring the base.

The downside of this idea is that it would limit the poses available when building. This would be even more severe if they forgo the base entirely and lock its legs so it can stand without a base.

Overall I think a single base is still more likely but it could be done in other ways.

I reckon they'll lock the legs and not give it a base.

In olden times weird superheavies were really really rare, and there were usually some stipulations about not using them in a normal game. So when they were used, it was a rare treat, and people did not terribly mind if for that one time it skewed the game. But since then all sort of gigantic or otherwise ludicrously powerful super models have become commonplace, and they often are not that fun to play against or indeed even play yourself. So people are not that enthusiastic about half the games being some sort of titan boss battles.

On this note, I personally think rare stuff is often "cool" (or more interesting) inherently.

Even for big units, like Thunderhawks are cool, but if you rock up with an original Vampire Raider or something, that's extra cool.

For better or worse Warhounds will get less interesting when everyone has one. Same thing happened with Baneblades.

I remember specific pages of White Dwarf with the Baneblade on before they became a mainline choice

In which case 80 or 100 mm diameter round base per foot should be enough. Personally, I am not too excited about that kind of a look, single base per model tends to look better.

A practical limitation that I previously hinted at is that likely this kit will be packed in the traditional GW big box, around which a lot of logistics are probably based (including typical sprue and store shelf dimensions). And on the interior such box measures around 29 cm x 43 cm (or slightly less), with a couple of different height variants. So the bases dimensions should somehow need to fit in the box, if it comes with the model.

(There is a slight chance that this might be in a new, even bigger sized boxes, but I would not count too much on it.)

I did not expect to see a plastic Warhound titan before a plastic Thunderhawk

I’m shocked we get a plastic Warhound before Space Marines get a plastic super heavy of any type. It’s always confused me why they don’t release one - surely it would be the best selling super heavy instantly. The potential audience for it is massive.

Anyway, although the online noise about a plastic warhound was such that I knew something was coming, it’s still a ‘wow’ moment to see an actual sprue. Look forward to seeing the whole kit.

I don’t think I’d buy one but maybe. It would be a fun project but then I think I’d be annoyed about how much storage space it takes up…

The fellblade chassis is in plastic for the marine superheavy, it's just 40k-able, but the warhound is also a HH kit. So in context, marines did get one first.

Great googly moogly. Is that the Tandaris Outbreak I spy?

Fellblade, Glaive, Falchion, Typhon, Cerberus - all plastic. And they all had rules for 40k in the past (Cerberus I'm not 100% sure).

So, basically there are super heavies - GW just has to provide new rules for them. Pretty low effort in my book because the models are already there.

You know what? GW should go all in. Do you know those huge outdoor chess fields with figures high as your knee? Make the next titanicus game an outdoor game to play in the backyard or park! No, seriously. Release the common titans in low detail but affordable. I would buy it

And of course I'm excited to see the plastic war hound finally happening! Oh boy. Will I be still alive when we reach the Warlord release? Who knows...

it already is a thing. :)

I agree a single base does generally look better.

Theres also the option that they do a single base that comes in 2 (or more) pieces. It wouldn’t be hard to make slots that slide into each other.

I have to admit that I did not think of that option - even though I have in the past actually joined individual square bases together with some spare sprue bits.

Would need to be careful when assembling such big multipart base (however hypothetical they might be), as it might be possible to get it a bit wonky looking.

Actually, whatever size base the Warhound comes on, it better have proper supporting points on the underside, so that the weight of the titan will not cause it to sag towards the middle.

Oddly if built in sections, the end plates of each section being flush with the ground would be a great reinforcement to distribute weight and help the base not glue wonkily.

Unsure if this is the right thread in honesty, it may be an additional sprue but "nails" has a new leak

I would suggest starting a new thread for that - it looks like a terrain piece to me (some kind of industrial installation). They do not remind me of anything on a Warhound.

The bit in the centre looks like a roof, the other four pieces seem to be the walls, with the holes in one wall allowing plugging in some pipes. Maybe it is a pumping station.

I had wondered if they were internal details/structure of the titan

Doesn't the inside of the warhound have servitors in the walls? Or is that the reaver?

They look too big to fit within a Warhound titan. Try comparing them to the main part of the carapace (the biggest part in the Warhound sprue).

That said, getting some interior detail and/or titan crew members would be a nice bonus touch.
