I imagine if they try to shoe-horn it into the normal game, it will be the flavor of the year then properly nerfed after all the main sales per GW norm. But here is hoping some sort of supplement and return to APOC that isnt what was presented in the end of 10th iron warrior books. I would love to see an update to the 3rd edition apoc ruleset that was completely independent from the core rules and designed for a simpler and quicker ruleset for large games.

With current day armies that people have, bringing back APOCALYPSE would be easy money printer yet again, not to mention all the heavy hitter units, sculpt updates for HQ´s, Knights being army and so on.

EASY MONEY!

Considering regular 40k allows legends, I'm not sure why they would make an exception banning it from Apocalypse.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I meant, if they decide to create new datasheets like they have in the past for Apoc, that they include all the Firstborn units etc.

I doubt Apoc will just be bigger 40k ever again.

Honestly if they try apocalypse yet again and limit the warhound to it (not sure why they would as it has current rules now) that's an immediate no from me. Haven't got space or time for a barely supported game mode based off owning too much stuff.

They're highly unlikely to make datasheets for models they don't sell.

If you want someone to blame, blame Chapterhouse.

If they want to lose older customers with deep pockets for someone else's actions, I can only blame them. Datasheets cost almost nothing and encourage other sales, but that's us getting well off the topic.....

Does the hive mind really think this will be released pre Xmas this year?

What's the history of GWs speed to release things after embarrassing and non sanctioned leakage?

Do people with better memories have a precedent, or two?

My preference is mid '27; for although I've "deep pockets" I still like to budget both money and time in a controlled manner.

Christmas release is a tough one.... From a GW perspective they already have Christmas battle forces to compete with and the next Kill Team box coming soon.... at the sort of price it will be it could go either way as a present for some people ie it is only something they would get at Christmas or a birthday etc or it is too much for one single item and little (or big) Jonny should save up for it themselves if they really want it/they can put some of their Christmas money towards it.......

I am intrigued as to what to expect the cost to be. I wonder for coparions how the volume of plastic/spruces will compare to a baneblade.

If they are being generous I could see a base price of £150 or up to £200. Then alternative (or any/the core warhound comes with none!) weapons sold separately at £30-40.

Take a step back and evaluate what you've said imo. They should produce datasheets for units they don't sell so established customers with deep pockets feel catered for?

If you have a large deep collection you likely already own the force you need, if you wanted units for a new game mode they don't sell, you aren't emptying your deep pockets with GW. There is little incentive for GW to make some of these and it's the same reason legends becomes divisive.

My hunch is probably not. GW have liked to to a big reveal on Christmas day in past years and my bet is that this will be it. That would then line it up for a release in January or February when sales are traditionally in a post-Christmas slump.

You missed the bit about encouraging other sales. Loss leaders are a thing too.

Firstly I won't buy a game that doesn't include my current minis. Secondly I am obviously one of the collect large things types, so will buy new big things to go with them..... like this Titan, or a Maniple of them, and 20 more tanks, and a Lance or two of Knights, and so on and so on.

Apocalypse is for huge forces, that's a mindset and capability many don't have. Normal 40k is for those players; restricting minis in Apoc loses customers and can even kill the game in smaller areas.

We've had this discussion before, you don't get it, and that's ok. If GW don't get it either, then they WILL lose customers.

Anyways, how about the release date???

Yeah, I vaguely remember that kind of thing. That would suit my budget and time availability, not optimal, but good.

The issue isn't one of encouraging other sales or whatever or "hating the customers," the issue is explicitly that if they produce rules for models they do not sell, they leave themselves open to competitors creating derivative works and jeopardise both their sales and their business model.

"GW don't get it" is refusing to engage with the factual reality that came about post-Chapterhouse, I'm sorry.

The one saving grace is that Heresy and Old World are a bit more flexible, particularly with their Legends system though the majority of those are marketed as "alternative conversions" rather than wholesale new models (Ruinstorm Daemons is probably the exception there, where theoretically anything goes.)

I'll also note that this has branched from a conversation about a hypothetical game mode for which no evidence exists, so probably best to leave it there before Mod meltas get charged.

Tinfoil hat time: they release this in March when the Christmas vouchers have all been spent and its a big Q4 earner for them to go into half year report and before new AoS edition next summer

March release would also allow people time to get it assembled and painted in time for the "big summer games". Considering the size and cost of a model like this, people probably want to put a fair bit of effort into the modelling and painting parts.

(Though I am left to wonder how many of these Warhounds will actually see action on tabletop, and how many will simply be bought for use as display pieces.)

Tell me about it, I really need to enjoy the painting time I have now as odds are I won't have much of a future with it.

As for release date, we all have to remember that next year is 40k's 40th anniversary, this is exactly the item I'd expect to see as a tent pole for the celebration...Just like a new Pedro Kantor model :whistling:

I don't think there's any chance this drops this year.

I think it will most likely be a Christmas reveal with a release next year.

Wasn't there mention of a Titan Codex at some point?

I didn't think it was impossible and we have got as far as the Dominus class Knights but it's still a shock. The effort required for this to be fake makes that seem less likely now.

How are they going to sell this beast? Are we getting more genuine effort into Apocalypse again? The "No Knights in 40k" crowd will be flipping tables now.

A reliable AoS leaker on TGA said there was a codex before tau with a hint about "do you own a titan?", so it's conjecture but there could be. In real terms it's an excuse by GW to earn a little extra for an app code, so it would seem likely.

Oooh, nice acrylics. Must be a pain to paint with, mine are awkward enough just grown out.

Anyway, loathe as I am to see *more* models that stretch the definition of a miniature well beyond the breaking point, a Warhound makes as much sense as anything else. Maybe they'll do one of the bigger Titans later, and you can field a foot of one on your gaming table? Maybe go all the way up to the knee if you're feeling fancy?

For those with the money to spend (and patience to assemble them), Reaver and Warlord titans have been available in resin at WH40K scale for a while. Maybe not the most practical gaming pieces, but they still actually fit on the gaming table.

For the even bigger stuff, Warmaster titan is presently available in the smaller Epic scale, while the Imperator titan (also known as "walking cathedral") has not been commercially available for a long while. Supposedly some enthusiastic modellers have over the years scratchbuilt their own big scale versions of the Imperator titan - considering their size, you could probably play a skirmish game on the top platform. The Imperator titan, placed on the floor, should be high enough to work as a gaming table on its own.

I can't get exited about the Warhound. It is too big for the game, and unless they seriously update the design, which I doubt, it is not particularly good looking. If they had to do an unreasonably large mecha, whish they had done Knight Porphyrion instead as it looks much better.

I'm seeing a chunk of this, it's a clearer division over on Dakka where the 30k crew love it and the 40k thread refused to acknowledge it was event possible it'd be a release, seem to not know it's a "legal" 40k unit, be concerned it doesn't belong in the game and I even saw a comment about it being competitively viable was a terrible idea.

What happened over the last 2 decades that a frigging warhound titan stopped being a cool spectacle in a game?
