Task Force Armageddon

I haven't decided who will lead Task Force Armageddon into 6e, but with access to the Divination powers, the command element will likely include a Librarian.

Brother-Librarian, Horatio (WIP):

And before anyone asks, the name Hamlet is too silly and Yorick sounds like the name of a Space Wolf. :)

Unlike the Captain Tycho model, the 1994 Commander Dante model has not aged well. So, in 5e I made my own 'counts-as' version of Dante: Brother Captain Draco Icarus. As stated earlier in this thread, the fanged visage was to intended to represent the effects of Dante's Death Mask under the 5e WD BA Codex. It also looks kind of cool. ;)

One of these years I need to learn how to paint a half-way decent sword blade. B)

Now that 6e is here, I am considering using Dante once again. So, in honor of the new ruleset I've decided to update my Commander Dante model. The model is essentially a kit-bash with a few simple conversions. Most of the pieces are from Sanguinary Guard plastic kit. The axehead, however, is the axehead from the 1994 model. While I have a number of other power axes in my bits box to choose from, I figured this little detail would serve as a nice bridge between the old model and the new.

Astute observers will notice that the model lacks an Infernus Pistol. Inspired by the awesome, open hand bit from the SG kit, I decided to forgo the ubiquitous Space Marine 'right-hand-holding weapon-up-left-hand-pointing-with-pistol' pose. Instead, I wanted the model to look like he's lining up an overhead chop with the Axe of Mortalis. Nevertheless, I still wanted the model to have a pistol, so I experimented with placing an Infernus Pistol on his hip, but the Infernus Pistol is way too long and bulky. In the end I decided that a holstered pistol bit will have to suffice. It's not a perfect representation, but in this instance, I am willing to sacrifice some accuracy for the aesthetic I was looking for.

OMG! just finished reading through it all, and wow, really nice, i have never been a fan of cartoon looking models, but you have givin me a reason to like it.

I just started up my own BA army, bought a new space marine army a few years ago, tried to do my own codex chapter, using a red and black theme, and well, finally got tired of them and went back to my SW army instead.

Then i stumbled upon a copy of the 2010 BA codex for about 75 sek, ( ca 1.5 us dollar), from a going out of business sale, mint condition. this was about 3 weeks ago, so now im in the process of converting my vanilla marines into BA marines... this page have given me sooo much inspiration sooo just want to say THANK YOU!! and hope to see more post soon...

cheers!

Thank you for the kind words. It pleases me to know that others have taken away something positive from this thread. :)

It's been a very long time since I've played 40K, but 6e has renewed my interest in the game. If 6e can hold my interest, then, in addition to my Mortifactors finally get some paint, I have a few BA projects planned for painting table. Namely, I'd like to get some paint on Dante, Brother Librarian Horatio, 9 new DC, and an Aegis Defense Line & Quadgun that will be used with both my Blood Angels and Mortifactors.

As you can see in this photo of my WIP Mortifactors, I've put my Aegis Defense Line on styrene bases. Since this photo was taken, I've added some battlefield debris to the bases to fancy them up some. Once textured and painted, they will be a nice addition to both armies.

hey don't mention it, the least i could do, im already using the inspiration i got, in the process of converting my "vanilla venerable dred" into a furioso libby dread, but now its time to go to bed here in sweden, so keep up the work and please post some pictures of your progress....

Ohh and i really like the look of your other army, just started using "toilet paper mache" (using wattered PVA glue) to make earthwork for my terrain, dont know if you have tried it, but it turned out great on my friends defense grid =)
