Task Force Armageddon

A number of matters have kept me away from the painting table for a while, including an infatuation with 8th edition WFB and Malifaux, but now I'm back.

I have completed the first three of my fifth generation Assault Marines. These models were painted from scratch. The remaining models in the squad are existing models and will be upgraded to fifth generation by replacing their helmets and shoulder pads. Helmets are to be shaded with brown rather than orange. All shoulder pads will be molded.

How did you make your lascannons. I love how they look.

I mixed the heavy bolter and lascannon pieces from the plastic devastator kit. The barrel of the heavy bolter is removed and replaced with the lascannon barrel. The power cable is electrical wire. The lascanon's small scope piece is used to cover the heavy bolter's ejection port.

Below are WIP pics of a Black Templar lascannon I built using the same design.

It's not a terrific photo, but it's proof that I have completed my first fifth generation assault squad. :P

Painting the yellow was very tedious so my next project will be to upgrade the shoulder pads of a Tactical squad.

I have finished (for now) my Death Company Dreadnought.

It turned out OK. Nothing spectacular. As in most cases, the model looks better in person than it does in this photo. The highlights on the black are actually more subtle and the black darker. Also, I could have shot a more flattering angle, but eh. It is what it is.

Good to see your back updating.. thought you might of disapeared into the internet black hole there for awhile Koy.

I took a bit of a detour into 8th Edition Fantasy, but now I am back.

I missed my goal to complete my models by TSHFT, so now I am shooting for Adepticon 2011.

I have also tweaked my list a bit and have dropped my Assault Terminators for a squad of 10 Scouts and a second Sanguinary Priest. The squad will consist of 6 of my existing Scout models along with 4 new models. The four neophyte Angels of Death will be the next models painted.

WHAT? Koyote doesn't play BA SPAM or BA Mech and now he is fielding Scouts armed with sniper rifles.

He must be insane! http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i200/10011970/iiik.gif

I have added a jump priest to my list. Rather than paint an entirely new model, I painted a jump pack and attached it to my foot priest with magnets. In person, the shading for the white appears blue-grey, not sky blue.

If dark hair was good enough for Sanguinius, then it is good enough for my Blood Angels. ;)

His long black hair was pressed down by the weight of the shawl of gold chain he wore across his head. The edges of it framed his solemn features. He had marked his cheeks with grey ash in mourning."

An attendant stood by with ink pot and brush to paint the ritual tears of grief on his cheeks, but Primarch Sanguinius shook his head, making the chain shawl clink. 'I have real tears,' he said.

The train wreck that is the Swallow trilogy is not part of the HH series. Besides, even if Swallow's BA novels are canon, I am comforted by the belief that Aaron Dembski-Bowden is going to ride to our rescue and write a Blood Angel's HH novel worthy of our beloved Chapter (Legion). And from the ashes of Swallow's mediocrity the Blood Angels will rise anew to reclaim their noble birthright. B)

Sorry Dem, but I've been wandering the world of Malifaux these past couple months. ;)

But alas, all is not lost. As I write this, I am waiting for the paint to dry on two BA Scout snipers. During my last game, my snipers brought down The Deceiver, and in doing so, earned a place in my list. :HQ:
