My Deathwatch Kill-Teams

Recommended Posts

@MrHappyPants:Already taken care of man. :P

@Cubeface:Someone else recommended that,too!I guess I have to oblige. ^_^

@dishchi:No Relictors,man.They're on the run,so I didn't see it as being appropriate.

@Afk:Exactly.Brother Drakeus is unfortunately used to being ostracized,and tries his best to not let Gideon's comments get to him.

Okay folks.An update is coming by Sunday night.Brother Josef just needs his Chapter symbol(Black Templar)done,and he'll wrap up Kill-Team Omega.

Also expect those group shots for both Kill-Team Alpha and Omega as well.

If I was a slack-jawed yokel I'd call these damn purdy. How'd you get all the bitz, specifically the chainaxe? I especially love the black dragon (really, really good horns there) and of course the Space Wolves. The Imperial Fist looks awesome too-does he have a terminator shoulderpad?

You should do an Angel Porphyr (my chapter). Regal Blue on the right, white on the left, with a white wing or flying skull as the chapter logo.

I ordered every-single-bit from the GW online store.

Please don't ask how expensive this is. :cuss

The shoulderpad Brother-Sergeant Lensher has is from the command squad sprue.

Now I promised Brother Josef of the Black Templars,the final member of Kill-Team Omega would be up today,so here he is. :cuss

And for those requesting full Kill-Team pics,here they are.

It's my first time cramming so many models in a pic,so forgive me if the camera work is shoddy.

I do,and they're like my children. :cuss

Here is another member of Kill-Team Omega,Brother RedFoot,of the Thunderbird Chapter.

Another DIY chapter.All that needs to be done is a slight tweaking of his Chapters symbol. :cuss

I Really like all your models. They have character and you show alot of attention to chapter detail on them. Excellent work.

However, this one model has a couple of issues :cuss

the thunderbird doesn't LOOK like a thunderbird.

Here is a site with a basic, easily freehanded version: Native American Symbols

I really like the idea behind this guy. Native American tribes have pretty much been ignored in 40K fluff (except the Deathwing back in 2nd ed.) and this is a good idea for a chapter based on them.

The second gripe is that the axe head is too big for the handle under the hand... either somehow limit the diameter above the handle or increase it below.

I believe that the head of the axe is too big for a hatchet style axe personally but he's your guy :cuss

Just thought I'd mention that it looks off.

Good use for a plastic Orlock head by the way :cuss

@Morpheous:Thanks,man.

And there is more.PLENTY more.lol

@Quin 242:I sorta like how the tomahawk came out,personally.It's a 40K style hatchet.lol

But I do agree with you on the Chapter symbol.It's seriously lacking.Thanks for that link.

And it's a Catachan head,btw. :cuss

@ Foda Bett;The month off??I wish! :cuss

No sir,what you are seeing is a project I've been doing for about two years.I just got a digi-cam though so now I'm going nuts with the pics. :cuss

I still have about half of my Strike Force to be painted.

My to do list;

Purge-One,my Landspeeder squadron

5 models in Kill-Team Gamma

4 in Kill-Team Epsilon

5 Drop Pods( :cuss )

and the Sl...=][=CLASSIFIED INFORMATION=][=

And check the first two pages for the recipe on the armor.You'll be surprised by how simple it is. :cuss

Superb job brother Danek, the individualism is great. Your work is really paying off not only in the fact of such a great force in fluff and modeling aspects but also that it is getting others fired up to try and follow suit to a degree and put their own spins on making something that is unique and fun to field. I know this has given me inspiration into working a little harder in making the individuals of the army stand out some more to add that extra life to it all.

Great great job keep up the work and keep those pics comin!

Great. Just as I start to refurbish my own deathwatch, you have to come along and show me up :cuss to myself only, mind you. :cuss

very very good work so far. Everything seems quite characteristic. My onl question is how did you reverse the salamander guys shoulder pad transfer? I was told it was next to impossible to do that do to different surfaces on either side of the transfer.

@Exhumed;To answer your question about the Salamander transfer,I use Micro Sol and Micro Set on them.When you slide the transfer off the paper,just slide it on transfer DOWN.It works great for me and I do it with alot of them. :cuss

@AFK;The Inquisition as an entity has proof of nothing except a physical mutation akin to the Space Wolves' fangs or the Raven Guards' pigment and eye color.The Black Dragon's Geneseed samples pass all purity test.

But of course,if the OH was suspicious,what better way to get info than to request the OX to inforce the Imperial Mandate of "Seconding" to find out?

And by the same token,notice how the Black Dragons did NOT send a Dragon Claw,but a heavy bolter expert with minimal spines? :cuss

  • 2 weeks later...

*Blows the dust off the thread*

Ah!Much better! :D

Now,while work has been hectic(and the weather has been too humid AND windy. :) )

I haven't been able to get as much done as I planned.

But I thought everyone would like to see how my first Landspeeder of Purge-One is finally painted(and just in need of the pilot and gunner).

So without further ado..

C & C welcome. ^_^

I'll try to get that Pilot and Gunner done in the meantime.

Oh my god, that speeder is looking wonderful, love the seats, a superb idea, why shouldn't they have a little comfort?

Funny thing is I've just nearly finished a speeder of my own, mine tho was salvaged froma job lot, so I've had to paint over someone else's paint job, but to be honest it's worked out surprisingly well, and I'm at the pilot/gunner stage too.

Can't wait to see yours all together, great stuff my man!!

looks really awesome; the metallics are smooth and well shaded

however, i suggest that you redo some of the buttons. I know that sometimes it's tempting to paint them all different colours to symbolize that they do different stuff, but it looks kind of Fischer Price to paint them bright primary colours, especially since the rest of your land speeder boasts the grim heradly of the DeathWatch.

Other than that, gj and keep posting! :)

Petro "The Pavlov" Pavlov

Thanks for the replies,guys.

@Petropavlov;You're right.I did go abit overboard.I was trying to avoid repetitiveness.The next one will stick to yellow and red. :)

@Brother apocalyptic:Parts are in need of ordering,but rest assured that some people here have already seen the WIP of their specific models via PM.

(Don't worry.You will too. :P )

In fact,Brother Saul,who pilots this specific LS is from Millest's Angel's of Repentance Chapter.

I may put the DIY's here as they get more impressive,but I honestly feel uncomfortable with posting unpainted miniatures.They look unimpressive naked. :D

@ZAChos;Brother,the recipe is quite easy,actually.

Codex grey base,Red gore to cover the grey,then Blood Red along the edges.

Follow that up with my trusty satin varnish and it's set! ^_^

And,by the Emperor himself,the wind and humidity died down enough today for me to prime Brother Saul and Brother Vachir!Yay!

So hopefully the fully completed landspeeder should be up before monday. :D

I may put the DIY's here as they get more impressive,but I honestly feel uncomfortable with posting unpainted miniatures.They look unimpressive naked. :)

That is indeed a disturbing way of putting it....

I think you should post the WiP's though - it's easier for those of us who want to follow in your footsteps to see exactly how and what parts you use for a given mini.

Still beautiful work though. Is the Landspeeder crew from the same chapter or 2 individuals?

looking good as usual my friend! love the red, though i am still of the mind that the highlights look a bit too stark... still a very impressive model!

(on a side note, i still stand by the fact that the deathwatch wont get landspeeders :))

WOW Danek, these are amazing! Ive always wanted to make a deathwatch army since I first read about them in WD 258, and you have (and in process of) completing that idea! Major props! The painting and converting endowed upon each individual model truely compliment your force quite effectively (and i think i will have to steal some of those ideas for my own devices!) I cant wait to see what else you have to show in the future. And call me crazy, but would "Project Sleeper" maybe be a dreadnaught? Either way, cant wait to see it. Sweet army

@Blindhamster:Nuts to you and your LS opinion. ^_^

@Vengor:The current LS has crew from two different chapters.

(No repeats with the exception of The Twins(SW))

Brother Saul comes from the forementioned Angels of Repentance,while Brother Vachir hails from the White Scars.

As for the DIY's,I don't have many pics,but those I have are here;

Brother Saul(Before being primed)..

Brother Crassus(the gunner for my second LS.From Invictus Resurrected's Guardians of Sarim Chapter)..

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/Danek1354/CrassusWIP1.jpg

And the base work for Brother Cyrus(Of =][=Xenthor's Guardians of Bifrost Chapter) and Brother Osa Re'(Of Nephren-Ka's Sons of Sekhmet Chapter)...

As you can see,the last two(members of Kill Team Zero-One)are VERY WIP. :)
