DIY Chapter - Tears of Medusa

@ NemFX

Dunno about the leg thing, i think it's just the perspective.

@ Brother Wyvernus

Yep, clean and shiny is the marines first duty :D

Gonna do some closeups when they are done. Being a Brother already until your death, u can't name the plasma guy

:D . Go and polish n' wax your armour.

Oh i see how it is..ah well. And by him being the best of the bunch I meant the new bunch, I'm still the best model in your army. :)

*Begins waxing on the double*

@ white crusader

just a question of training i think

@ Yogi

ah, a landspeeder AND razorbug lover finally... nearly a year of army building for that one moment ^_^

come into my arms, beloved Brother Yoginus. And don't forget to make your choice of what marine will carry your name from now to eternity...

@ Brother Wyvernus

have to say i live your CC skills, especially against those two grot mobs for 3 rounds until the battle ended... superb performance! Ever thoght about changing your equipment against some claws or a hammer? go on like that and you might even get an own squad, brother

Horrible pun, Capt. Nuss... ^_^ But the pods, much like the rest of you army are beautiful. I do, however, have one minor, tiny little nitpick... On the cape of your commander (chapter master?), the mural to be specific, we are given a front or 3/4 view of the emroidered marines leg, and it's too thin. But that's my one gripe. That's it. Other than that, I must say, it's really impressive to see how your painting skills have progressed over the course of the thread.

You entire army is painted to such a beautiful standard. The amount of work put in really shows, and it seems as if every model has it's own colorful story. Nothing seems repetitive, and one is captivated simply by looking at the pictures.

Your ideas are incredible, from the most interesting of coversions to the most dramatic alterations one has ever seen. Looking at the miniatures is like watching something, i could swear some of them moved. The paint job is stunning, and the NMM is amazing. I dont care what people say about realism, it's this hyper realisitc approach to lighting, converting, and the hobby in general that really sets the army apart.

My own army will hopefully have the same character, and while it is coming along slowly, I hope to have the same character your wonderful army has. You can see it at http://warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58849 , but i move at a much slower pace.

Amazing work. The freehand is incredible, and even the small scuplts are incredible. I especially loved the ruined city on the side of the whirldwind. It was very captivating.

Thank you for being an inspiration, if not from individual painting and converting ideas then for the character your army has. Definatly one of my favorite Space Marine armies.

Beautiful work! I personally would like to see a tutorial and/or templates on your drop pods.

They look to be of FW equivelent and I would love to make some myself!

Might they be from the Frech GW article that has been taken away or is this of your own design? Inquiring minds want to know!

Long time no see...

I was quite busy with my job the last months, so my painting didn't progress.

Now i have more free time, and you'll gonna see new work quite soon.

Here are some pics to give a little overview:

As it looks, i'll pause this army, and start a new one... watch out for a new thread around the weekend.

I am a steady watcher of your thread.. Never posted before though :)

here we go:

Pros and Cons:

+

the scratched pods look amazing :D Respect to your ability to convert so many detailled drop pods.. Not that easy ;)

+

I like the colour scheme... Gives the army a nice overall look.

+

The AdMech theme is also well executed

+

You are capable of executing various painting techniques like NMM, OSL.. respect.

+

some ideas are very original (like the walking tank)

-

But sometimes I think "less is more"... I don't really like the bright colours + the light reflexes :/

-

The bases look good, but sometimes I think they vary too much between the squads

-

the scouts are nicely converted but don't fit into the SM theme (especially AdMech theme) AT ALL.

I'm a big fan of Imperial Soldiers but these don't suit into a SM army.. (Don't don't even look like skitarii)

To sum things up: I liked your commissioned army (the purple/blue one)better ;)

Hopefully my criticsm wasn't too harsh ;)

No offence...

You did a great job in completing such a nice army in a rather short time ;)

O-Ha, the master in my lil thread..... its a pleasure to read a post that shows real interest, ideas, honesty .... and lack of faith :)

The army isn't done at all. There are even several enhancements actually, for which i didn't find time to photograph and post yet.

There are three additional machine brother mini-dreads and several banners.... you'll see.

"But sometimes I think "less is more"... I don't really like the bright colours + the light reflexes :/"

Its a question of army style to me. It would not fit Ultramarine armies, but i love my light reflexes. *hugs the reflexes*

If u don't like it here, you are gonna HATE my next project :) ... dont click it without sunglasses on.

"The bases look good, but sometimes I think they vary too much between the squads"

I usually mix the marines between the squads, and an inner variation of the base styles is not intended...

"the scouts are nicely converted but don't fit into the SM theme (especially AdMech theme) AT ALL.

Mhhh, this issue again....

They are not heavier converted to fit in an DH, WH and Imp. Army as well... thats about it.

To sum things up:

Ich hätte runterkommen sollen, als du bei Wolkenmann warst, und dich selbst vertrimmen... :D

But the commissioned army is also not done... the player needs more points for ongoing tournaments. As soon as he knows WHAT he wants to add, i'll paint it up.

@ Brother Wyvernus

Ah, Brother Wyvernus, come in, take seat... :tu:

Very good to see you again, although i can't recall you survived the last tourney... but.... you're alive in fact. :pirate:

I remember you blasted away those two bikes on the last pic, with the help of the others' storm bolters. Nice work.

But they were no sallies, just painted like some, u know.

U are gonna be the standard bearer guy some day..

@ Chaplain Chazzicus

Then DO one. Or better two....

lol ^^

looking forward to see the rest finished =)

you're right...actually it is a matter of taste... If you like this style it's perfectly ok

was just my opinion  I'd also be interested to see a sneek-peek of your next project ;)

Ich hätte runterkommen sollen, als du bei Wolkenmann warst, und dich selbst vertrimmen...

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0389.jpg

All are about 50% WIP i'd guess, finished photos not before next evening.

Sooner or later i'll add some more Jumppack-guys, Vets, and normal Marines.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/minibot1.jpg

could u do a tutorial for this guy, i think that this is totally awesome and i would like to make one for my aspiring SM army, essentially an inquisitorial army with a bunch of Deathwatch Marines in it.

if you could do that it would be really amazing. :cuss

BLARGAG!!!

So heres the 90% finished libby:

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0394-1.jpg

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0392.jpg

What do you think?

@ Kisada

You make me sad . . .

Mhhhh... sorry.

@ BLARGAG!!!

The machine brother is basically made of Plasticard and GS. I dunno what i could explain about that, really. Any specific question?

BLARGAG!!!

yeah, ok

And once more: the Vets.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0399-1.jpg

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0398-1.jpg

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j92/wieims/PICT0396-1.jpg

What do you think?

Is it nmm om the staff? If it is, can u make a tutorial?

Its is. I don't use any metal colors in this army.

Try the Tut from Boltman, should work quite well :-).
