Space Hulk Modeling Thread

Recommended Posts

Hmm....

Ok, so i was inspired (more like looking for an excuse) by this thread to go out and get a box of assualt terminators today, but i am currently out of town and plan to buy some bitz when i get home over the long weekend.

So i guess Nicili will enter...

With the first ever painted models of the "Storm Serpents" chapter.

Hmm, the actual chapter is still a major work of project, but ill put these terminators at the top of my to-do list.

By the Way: Either put me under Liber Astartes or Chaos Undivided for the time being, more likely under chaos though.

-Nicili

well here's a pic of wip's

i loved the new bases of OMG & Refuse (i guess everyman and his termie will use the idea now :) )

still its the best form of flattery...

the base was a little difficult as i had already stuck the feet down a while ago :(

ultra Vet SGT with an attempt at a spacehulk base.

:) Nice see-through bases. I like the wires moving from one pipe to the other. Very nice touch. I wanted to do more with strands of broken cabels but I thought it would look too busy. Looks just great on yours.

Very nice. -OMG

Magno Termies Ho!

Magno Termie!

Each arm is magnatised and so is the waist.

What?

Here are the magno arms

And examples of magno waiste

And a breakdown here:

So the idea is the amazing interchangeable Terminators with Magno Power!

Wanted to be able to use the old commander's Storm bolter (on the left side) and the Grenade launcher.

Grenade Launcher:

Left hand storm bolter:

(note I need a different right hand for the left hand storm bolter. Thought maybe I could do Master Crafted Storm bolter and power fist using that!)

All 5 will be magno powered, along with the IC.

Ok, here is my first model. I started him as a test and so far I'm fairly happy with the results. I am trying to paint this guy right (i.e. several thin coats vs. slopping on un-diluted paint). right now he has 2 coats of codex grey and 1 coat of codex/fortress (@3:1). The head it's self is nearly done. I started it first and I was happy with the results so I decided to press on. Some of the small details are already painted because I was originally painting this guy for my Black Consuls, otherwise I would have left them for last. Not sure how great these pictures are, but hopefully you get the idea.

Good shark face, very cool!

You might want to try a grey primer to make the whole smooth color thing easier on you. DupliColor Sandable Primer comes in Grey and can be found in Auto stores or the Auto department in WalMart near the touch-up paints. The name sounds bad for minis I know but it's the smoothest primer you'll ever see. :)

Assault termies move to next stage. Still need some more clean up and I need to figure out what I want to do for bases.

Now, I need some input on colors. The trim is going to be white: The support rods on the thighs and the back of the calves, helms, weapon cassings, knee pads, and chest eagles are going to be white. But how should I do the shoulder pads? The reason I as is two fold, the transfers I have for the chapter badge are white, but I could get them in green. Also these guys will be part of the command squad for a chaplain, so in a way it would be fluffy for the pads to be black. What say you brothers, bite the bolter round and buy the green transfers to go on white pads, or go with the black pads?

@ Azazel - go for black on the shoulder pads.

@joker - great termies there,as usual very stunning ,i love the bone crux's.

@ OMG - the high priest looks sweet,i tend to find that better 40k painting is done late at night also :D

Azazal, can you describe the steps you took to get that green? It looks like green ink was involved at some point.

Sure, the base coat was Delta Ceramcoat Dark Foliage Green, then a wash of 1 part Higgins green ink/10 parts water/10 parts Liquitex Flow Aid. Highlighted with Delta Ceramcoat Hunter Green, then a fine highlight of Delta's Lime Green. All supplies from the local Micheal's craft store
