The Angelus Sanctus
Im sure this question has been asked a good 100 times already, but for the sake of me, i cant recall what the answer was, butttt.......... Where is everyone getting the grating material for the bases? CRasterImage
angel robertson, those bases are great! The rusted diamond pattern plate is very convincing. My only suggestion is to put a splash of brown ink on the other metal parts. They look too clean, next to the rusted plates. Just a little bit of ink. Collecting around the bases of the bolts and between the plate seperations. Make it look a little more dirty. The blasted plate looks good as it is, but if you want to scorch it a bit, do a very light drybrush of chaos black over spots that you imagine there being scorch marks. Don't go overboard. It looks good already. IF you make it too black, it will dissapear. Where is everyone getting the grating material for the bases? I'd guess car repair shops - it's the kind of mesh that you use for car repairs and then slather putty and stuf over it. Also you can go to the local hardware store/Lowes/Home Depot/etc. Pick up a roll of screen for a screen door or windows. I recomend the nylon stuff myself, the metal is really good a jabbing fingers. -Q-
I got mine at Michael's craft store. It's used for making the rough shape of clay sculptures so you'll find it over in that section. angel robertson
Ok then, i didn't work on the bases at all tonight instead i worked on the termie himself!! I got all the basecoats for the metal done, the purity seal wax, the skin, the first black highlight and the two little gem type things in that thing that comes off his head!! Techinical terms there!! I know his SB needs drilling! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e119/AngelRobertson/termie.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e119/AngelRobertson/termie010.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e119/AngelRobertson/termie011.jpg Still need to do the highlights on the black, dull the boltgun metal down and sort out the purity seals!! I am also thinking of trying some free hand on his PF, any thoughts on what to put?? Cheers, AR P.S He is not so shiny in RL!! Its now dark here and i had to use the flash!! MithrilForge
:P Great work here, great base's angel robertson! @ The Angelus Sanctus -i see your from AUS :P you can also use as grate(which i did) crochet grid from spotlight or lincraft, its a bit thick but looks great, you really need to wash it as it has mould release on it and will be hard to paint or glue down otherwise. refuse
Updates: Magno feet! http://sh.emperorschildren.net/magnoblink.MOV (I want blinkies on my bases/scene, so cheaped out and took a stack of blinkie kibble from a computer company). But the magno feet are working. Picked up a bunch of magnetic paper, not so hot for holding the termies (adding str) to the bases. So probably will pick up some big thin circular magnets. Daeothar
It's about time I showed my (non)progress so far. No doubt I will not make the first round due to time-issues but I hope to be done by the next hulk that comes along... Sarge: http://www.xs4all.nl/~daeothar/FieryLions/Pictures/ForumPictures/AODTermies/WIPTermieSarge.jpg Sarge Left Sarge Right Termie 1: http://www.xs4all.nl/~daeothar/FieryLions/Pictures/ForumPictures/AODTermies/WIPTermie1.jpg Termie 1 Right (the only one with a finished Chapter Badge right now...) Termie 1 Left (with brass Imperial Eagle) Termie 2: http://www.xs4all.nl/~daeothar/FieryLions/Pictures/ForumPictures/AODTermies/WIPTermie2.jpg Termie 2 Right Termie 3: http://www.xs4all.nl/~daeothar/FieryLions/Pictures/ForumPictures/AODTermies/WIPTermie3.jpg Termie 3 Rear (also with Eagle) This is one of two Termies with magnatised right arm, to be switched with either the Heavy Flamer, Assault Cannon or Stormbolter (as shown here). Termie 4: http://www.xs4all.nl/~daeothar/FieryLions/Pictures/ForumPictures/AODTermies/WIPTermie4.jpg Termie 4 Left, with Assaultcannon Termie 4 Left, with Heavy Flamer The head is just mocked in with a spare; the actual one is pinned on a paperclip for painting right now ;) Also, anyone familiar with the orgininal Space Hulk game knows that no Terminator boarding party is complete without a CAT unit to scout ahead! So, here's my take on it; no more tracked mini-rover type camera vehicle but more of a (transformers  ) Ravage type! Beware this thing needs lots of GS; plume on tail, manes etc... http://www.xs4all.nl/~daeothar/FieryLions/Pictures/ForumPictures/AODTermies/WIPCATunit.jpg The bases are extremely WIP but I'll put pics up asap (thanks OMG for helping me out with my material shortage :) ). -Q-
Great stuff as always Daeothar! The Chapter Badge came out great! Termie 2 is cute how he still needs to take his dolly wherever he goes. Great use of the cyber-dog! I've been trying to work that into my army forever, I have two of them waiting :) I was finally going to add one as a familiar but Termie Librarians can't have one! =( Can't wait to see what it looks like all GS'ed up! refuse
daeother, Quick questions. 1) Are those Red Scorpion pads with the scorpion filed off? 2) If so, I see you are using the brass Aquillas. Will any fit in the circle? 3) Love the models, why the old flamer on the new flamer hand? 4) Argh, I love power maces. Not sure why, but they are the coolest Terminator Power weapon. 5) Where is the dog model from? Great idea for a dog as a C.A.T. 6) Reserved for Slaanesh! Oblit Stunning.
