Warsmith Atlas Dhoryon was born in the Olympian City state of Myrmidia. He was born a bastard son to the king of Myrmidia, the queen having died giving childbirth to twins, the only heirs to the throne. The twins, Korin and Janus, fought constantly, bickering about this and that, often who would gain the throne when their father had died. When Atlas was born, the king took him into his household and gave him the surname of Dhoryon, the name of an ancient Myrmidian hero, in an attempt to give the boy a small measure of honor. Atlas was immediately accepted by Janus, and they grew to be close friends, training in the art of war together and serving as a part of the royal army, Janus at sixteen years of age, and Atlas at only twelve, though seeing limited engagement. Korin grew deeply jealous. Having been born with two legs of differing sizes, he was unable to fight in the war, and thus spent his childhood at the senate. When Janus and Korin turned fifteen, Korin entered his father chambers late at night, slaying him in his sleep. The next day, he arrived at the senate bearing his father’s head in his hands, and wearing the crown of Myrmidia on his brow. Janus and Atlas were imprisoned and often tortured. Korin had his body modified with countless expensive surgeries, granting him superhuman strength and speed. Atlas and Janus spent three years in the dungeons until the Cataphracts seized the throne. Janus died soon after their release, having had both of his legs and arms removed at the command of Korin, and the stumps developing vicious diseases. Ursus Tharsan handed the throne to Atlas, and Atlas graciously accepted, beginning a friendship between Ursus that would have them inducted into the Iron Warriors together. Under his rule, Myrmidia flourished, growing rich and finding peace with many cities that they had been at war with because of Korin. When the Emperor arrived upon Olympia he discovered Myrmidia fairly quickly, enlisting Atlas and Ursus, along with almost a hundred other boys that did not pass the initiation into the IV. Atlas rose through the IV Grand Battalion quickly, showing extreme prowess with his twin blades, and an incredible tactical acumen. He grew to be the personal champion and head advisor of Warsmith Bardych Throssus, a hero of Terra and the Iron Warriors that had fought since the creation of the Legion. When Throssus fell upon Isryugh IV, Atlas stood above his corpse, slaying hundreds of Orks swarming through a break in the Iron Warriors walls. After the battle, he was voted into the Warsmith position, awarded the black stripe upon his helmet, a mark of honour and sacrifice in the IV Grand Battalion, and Perturabo himself awarded the Grand Battalion their own Expeditionary Fleet.

Really like the Heresy era Iron Warriors Pyromancer biggrin.png Also really like background like this, adding that depth to the models.

‘Honoured Sergeant Viktor Tronecny holds many honours in the IV Grand Battalion, leading to his privilege of carrying the Grand Battalion’s banner into battle. He fought in the Sol System at the beginning of the great crusade. He was present upon Olympia the day that Perturabo met his legion, and bore the IV’s banner when the primarch addressed his legion. Viktor is a strong warrior, as befits one who bears such a meaningful symbol.’

‘Pay no attention to bodily injury, for your body is but a vessel for I and the Emperor. You mustn’t be afraid to sacrifice yourself, if doing so will further our cause!’

Brother Bartolemus, IV Grand Battalion, I Battalion, VI Squad:

‘Brother Bartolemus never had what was needed to advance within the IV Grand Battalion. Even after nearly 200 years of service, the Terran Iron Warrior had not even advanced to a sergeant, and yet he earned the rare black helmet stripe. As of the Massacre of Olympia, there were only five brothers within the IV that had the stripe, Warsmith Bardych Throssus (Enterred into a dreadnaught), Warsmith Atlas Dhoryon, Lieutenant Artur Chromyr, Lieutenant Ivor Krejci, and Brother Bartolemus.

The black stripe was given only in exceptional circumstances, when the Iron Warrior showed true courage, dedication and personifying the Iron Warriors in a deed to earn the honour. The black stripe was the highest accolade any member of the IV Grand Battalion could earn.

Lieutenant Chromyr, the bodyguard of the Warsmith, earned his by slaying one of the largest Ork Warlords on record, while protecting Warsmith Bardych Throssus’s crippled and mangled body from the beast. Warsmith Atlas earned his by holding the Protean Gate, alone, for nearly twelve hours from a horde of Eldar. Lieutenant Ivor Krejci, commander of the IVth Armoured Battalion, earned his by slaying the Eldar equivalent of an Imperator Titan upon Ytrimia, with the assistance of his crew and The Tyrant of Osseon, a Fellblade.

Brother Bartolemus earned his upon Writhnic. The IV was engaged by a massive horde of traitors to the Imperium. The IV had recently conquered Writhnic, but uprisings began not even a dozen years after they left. The IV took control of a fortress in the mountainous region of the planet, where wave after wave of traitors crashed upon the walls.

During the battle, Bartolemus threw himself upon a bomb being carried by the heretics, stifling the blast that would surely have killed many of his brothers by causing a massive avalanche. Bartolemus had no right to survive the blast, but somehow he did, although not without injury. He suffered in a coma for nearly two years, and the apothecaries had to replace half of his rib cage and most of his leg with solid iron. One of his shoulders was heated so intensely that the bone had melted together, and one of his hearts had burst. And yet, when he awoke from his coma, he once again returned to the field of battle and has since fought as determined as the rest of his brothers, many of whom owe their lives to him.

As always, thank you for the comments everyone!

Looking great. I just always thought that the IV's shoulder pads should be the only part of the armour that is black and the rest should be metallic. To me the colour scheme would look great for the Black Legion.
