Thanks for the the amazing amount of responses, really gives me a drive to get stuff finished when people are interested.

Just wanted to put these 2 pics of the Butcher up as the other pics don't show the colour of the blue properly. These ones are slightly out of focus but I had better light at the time.

Absolutely fantastic models you have here; and echoing the sentiments of others- the drazhar blades? Inspired use- that butcher really lives up to his nickname!

I think your choice to go with a lighter base really contrasts with the deep, rich blue you've managed to achieve on these nightlords- "in midnight clad" indeed!

So, WIP Raptors then.

Here's the unit of 5 I have on the go at the moment. I wasn't a fan of their poses on the ground so I've used wire to give them a bit more of a dynamic look. I've also converted a few weapons so they're kitted out how I want during games.

Start of the blue tutorial will be put up in a bit once the wash has dried.

Right, how I do dark blue armour. I'm sorry in advance for the darkness of these pics, still getting the hang of this new camera and taking pics at 10pm in winter probably isn't helping.

Stage 1 - Kantor blue base.

Stage 2 - Wash

Even mix of Nuln oil, Drakenhof Nightshade and water. You want a good coverage but be careful it doesn't pool on flat services. Should look something like this.

For this effect.

Stage 3 - Re highlight with Kantor Blue

Stage 4 - Add some Thunderhawk Blue into the mix, you what a fair jump in lightness

Stage 5 - Even more Thunderhawlk. This is the final highlight so be careful just to get the edges.

I pre mix a pot full of each stage just because it makes it so much easier to put down and pick back up. Here are my highlight mixes for comparison starting with Kantor blue on the left and adding Thunderhawk towards the right.

Final stage - a wash of Drakenhof Nightshade with a little water ties the layers in together for this end result.

Hopefully this was helpful and made sense. Please feel free to add any further questions and sorry again the pics were so dark.
