Can't belive I've missed this blog until now! Nice painting, good conversions and some splendid writing, plenty of things to get inspiration from here

Baby step by baby step I'm slowly churning through the troop. First 5 of 2nd Hunter are finished. Hoping to have the 2nd half finished this week after which I plan to paint up Voss as a centre piece character.

Sorry for the pic quality but only had my phone to hand for these.

Dude those are awesomely painted miniatures. And what are you talking about "Sorry for the picture quality": you've managed to make in focus macro shots of your miniatures in action wub.png - how much better do you want them? thumbsup.gif

Is say: MOAR!

MOAR you say?

Managed to actually hit my target of finishing off the last of the squad on my days off. More dodgy camera phone shots I'm afraid, hope you like them.

Looking good Fracture!

I love how rich and lush your midnight blues are. They look miles deep! Also, I really wish I could paint lightning as tiny and perfect as you can. Please keep up the awesome work!

I do have a question for you. What size chain did you use on your Contemptor? I'm struggling to find one from a hobby store that isn't waaaay too big for pretty much the exact same purpose. Yours looks just the right size.

Hey guys, glad you both like them.

Flint - I THINK the chain was the 0.96 MM stuff from Bases of War. All the other bits of chain are from either the chaos mounted marauder, flagellants or various DE kits.

Augustus - I was rather happy when I found that old las cannon in a bits box. It's the metal weapon from the old old old legion of the damned set. I must have had that bit for about a decade.

The last bunch look smashing Fracture, my favourite is the lascannon guy though. That skincolour is really nice and that old lascannon... makes me wish I had one of those lying around wub.png

Thanks for all the comments guys, they really are appreciated.

Work on the contemptor is going well, me and a few friends are hoping to have a campaign style weekend at Wayland later in the year so it's given me an incentive to get 1500 pts finished by November.

Here are a few late night WIP shots of how the big man is coming along.

Capitano & kizzdougs. -  Cheers guys. Hoping to have him finished before I go on holiday this weekend. Looking forward to the fun gory details tomorrow evening.

Augustus. - I really appreciate that mate. I really wasn't sure if my way of doing blue was going to scale up to the Contemptor well. Right until the final glaze I was sure I was going to cock it up, all turned out well in the end though.

1000heathens. - I was really chuffed when I found that old las cannon at the bottom of a box and it fitted well with just a bit of green stuffing. Also my guys actions are totally sanctioned by the big E, totally totally sanctioned.

What is your recipe, if I may ask. Actually for your blue, but also for your trophy flesh and for your facial flesh? I really like the deathly palor the lascannon guy has.

The blue formula is back on page 2. He actually gives a step by step for it. I'd like to know the formula for the facial flesh as well, though. I'm going to be doing a NL CSM army shortly.

Beautiful army so far! And really inspiring for my own NL army. May I ask where did the skulls hanging from ropes for the 2nd Hunter squad came from?

Keep up the great work!

Augustus & Peredyne - the face is base coated in Administratum Grey and then washed with a mix of nightshade and nuln oil. It is then highlighted with Administratum with wych flesh added to high light up.

The corpse flesh is base coated in cadian flesh time and then washed with Earthshade. Re highlight with cadian and add Kislev flesh to highlight. Once highlights are done add a glaze of Earthshade again.

The flayed skin is based with Kislev flesh and gets a Carroburg Crimson wash. Re highlight with Kislev and add wych flesh until your using almost pure wych flesh.

If people are interested I could do another step by step for these although they're pretty straight forward.

Hellath - they're more than likely from the Hellion box set. Have a failed DE army myself and a girlfriend that collects them gives me a good source of chains and skulls etc. horde o bitz are great for these sort of things as well.
