Trawling's Craftworld Iybraesil (And other projects)

As I currently have a couple of projects on the go, I thought I'd make a topic in the WIP section with the collated pictures and have battle reports, tactics etc in the subforums. Since November I have been working on a Death Guard warband called the Rusted Harvest. The scheme is relatively simple and is quite eye catching but is definitely not to everyone's tastes. I'm not too sure on the Lord front just yet but the naming of characters and the lore for the warband is heavily influenced by the cthulu mythos, mostly the king in yellow/Hastur. Here's some of the models I've been working on recently:

Test model, figured out the colours that work well pretty quickly. It's suprising that orange still needs spot colours to break it up a bit:

1st Blightlord terminator, I changed the way I do mutated flesh on this model and it’s something I want to go back and change for the first 2 ranged PM squads:

Converted Plaguecaster, really dislike the official MPC model and wanted to create one with a similar silhouette. I’m desperate to try to find a staff head and am looking at a part from an AoS nighthaunt character but am having trouble getting it atm:

20 done (with some glamour shots with Typhus), I was worried about their skin being grey and basing with Astrogranite but I think adding snow and grass really kills that worry and adds a lot to the model. This is something that I need to go back and do for older models:

Current WIP:

Still plenty to do on nearly all the models shown so far, except the poxwalkers who are 100% done now. I have a tournament at the end of April which I am taking the DG to. For that I still need to paint:

1 Melee PM squad

1 Rhino

1 Bloat Drone

1 PBC

3 more Blight lords

Plus finish the basing on all bar Tyhpus and the poxwalkers and then go back and tidy up/add details to the rest of the army.

Got quite a bit work done this weekend, last three melee boys done and a rhino too. Freehand needs a lot of work but as a first attempt I think it looks pretty great. C&C is always welcome:

Don't think I've ever seen orange Plague Marines before - it's a striking result. The counts-as poxwalkers are suitably creepy too.

The Ragged Man cometh.

Finally got the staff topper I wanted for my malignant plaguecaster and I'm nearly there with him. The problem with taking pictures is that you notice all the problems you couldn't see before. Lots of touch ups to do but I'm pretty pleased with how he's come out so far:

I finished the Bloat drone off too, wasn't sure if the purple flesh would work but I think it came out pretty great. The lens in particular works well IMO, I do need to go back and tidy up the stitches and the area below the eye. C&C always welcome:

The Deathshroud squad are done. 5 days in isolation is a hell of a drug, I've gotten all of the Deathshroud done, a Blightlord and started another Blightlord.

Thanks a bunch man! That really means a lot.

The orange is actually super simple:

Abaddon black base spray

Jokero orange base coat (don't worry about it being thin)

Drybrush trollslayer orange all over

Agrax wash all over to dull the orange down

Highlight with Fire Dragon Bright

If you make any mistakes you can go back over it with skrag brown,as it turns out this is almost identical, just not quite as orange

Looking good. I just recently finished mine and the amount of detail on these models make them a joy to paint.

Your color scheme is really starting to mesh and each new unit seems better than the last.

There is a crazy amount of detail on all of the Death Guard range, the Blightlotds and Deathshroud have so many cool little details that really are fun to paint.

Thank you Verux, it really does mean a lot when people take time and comment and give tips on what I've painted.

I finished off the last Blightlord for the 5 man squad which takes me up to 9 terminator models total which is the most I've ever painted for one army

Here's all 9 so far:

Typhus has had a small update especially on the flies as the green and dark green on flies didn't look too great.

As I have 5 monopose plague marines in my 1500point list, I want to make them the multipart ones as I'm not a huge fan of monopose models.

Thank you Doghouse! I've really enjoyed painting these guys and I'm glad they came out well :biggrin.:

I got the 4th and 5th Plague Marines finished yesterday:

After 10 days of quarantine I've painted 10 models which I think is a new record for me:

Now that I've finished painting all of my Death Guard that I have with me (I'm currently self-isolated separately from all of my stuff due to living with a vulnerable person) it's on to my Dark Eldar. It's a really nice change of pace from big blocky and pointy models to very small and fragile models, my paint schemes are very different too: Sea Green Dark Eldar and Bright Orange Death Guard. I've started on the one scourge model I have with me and I think the wings came out great (The rest of the model is WIP)
