Have to say, after playing a lot of assault, the best melee weapon is either a fencing or balanced chainsword. Lack of Iframes hurt this class badly. You are punished with chip dmg and crowd control (stun/ interuppts etc) when trying to heavy/ charge attack. You can spec for a jump pack dodge, but dodge is a janky system at the moment. Its less mental load as well to just spec for jump pack hammer of wrath smashes instead via skills.

Pariah Crusade I find interesting as GW seems keen to expand this out more. Has some interesting plot points with those blackstone pylons as well. The original ones at Cadia seemed to have a positive/ neutral effect vs the warp, but the ones being used in Nexus look to be having a negative effect on Imperial citizens. Silent King also seems to be most active in this area as well currently ?

I am more forward thinking these days. Is the army actually going to be an army or an ever-collection? If its something you want to do as a one and done and dust your hands of for a long time, then more planning is required. That means a list at the average game size as the finish line. You can play smaller games if you like with a mix of units needed from the endpoint list. This stops a purchase sprawl (or at least mitigates it somewhat...). Better to have a clear objective and work on meeting that for progress.

I'll stick with your Guard example. You may have intended the all infantry guard as a theme, but the edition changes and that comp list is now OP, its now a skew list for instance. Thats my point, any theme can potentially shift to a skew and a skew could very well shift to a theme. Vehicle's are apparently strong in 10th, so IG all tanks is OP/ comp etc, say vehicles' are nerfed in 11th, well the list is now a theme list. A theme list inherently rewards a skew, because thats the design. In the end, I believe its easiest to write the strongest version of your list then dial it back from that, its how I write my 30k lists. I have a few disgusting IW lists I write down from. This way my lists are still themed without an oppressive skew or becoming one trick pony lists that the majority of people would be miserable to play against.
-
"Skew list" and "theme list", depending from what end of the table you are and if you are winning/ losing its largely interchangeable. Should actually remember the old definition "one trick pony lists", which more accurately hit the intended goal of comp by doubling down on units/ playstyle to win. An example, IF 30k stone gauntlet ROW, this qualifies as a theme list/ skew list and if you hard tune it, a one trick pony list that is very effective with the parts it benefits. The "trick" will either work and you win or you won't. A skew list and a theme list are interchangeable. Comp players attempt to muddy the waters by saying their one trick pony list is a theme list, newer players dub it a skew list, while themed list players would describe their list as "skewed towards infantry on foot" as the "theme". You shouldn't be painting "skew lists" with the same brush, its not that cut and dry.

Never had an issue with any of my power armoured characters being on 40mm bases IRL, but on the internet I feel like I have been crusading longer than a Black Templar for doing that instead of using the standard (25mm OG) or now 32mm one instead that come with such character models.

Is this a genuine FW fire raptor component?
MegaVolt87 replied to Xenith's topic in + GENERAL PCA QUESTIONS +
That looks like some sort of conversion. The standard fit uses the storm raven cockpit. I also don't see that part in the assembly instructions I saw online for the kit. I don't remember that kit changing either. Edit- both assembly instructions for fire raptor + storm eagle use the storm raven cockpit. -

While I'm not the biggest primaris fan, their customizations in this game look very good and if the actual models were more like that I would be more of a fan. As far as firstborn armour skins, thats not going to work because there is no firstborn ranged weapons in the game, only the CSM look to have those. I'm not interested in loyalist firstborn skins if I have no firstborn weapons to use them with. Only way I see that working is if they lock firstborn skins to a melee class because those weapons are common and a plasma pistol only because thats the only common ranged weapon as well these days.

I saved that Khârn pic and rotated it the other way with 40k Khârn on top, looks good that way as well.

Apparently here in Australia, we got something like a 5.5% wages rise on average. Explains the price rises. You are welcome ROW !

Thinking about it more, old 40k lore vs new. Old 40k it was fine for the setting to spin its wheels, have a cap point (13th black crussade). Its also ok for characters to be dead but still playable, (Tycho, Abaddon killing Eldrad). Or characters being able to have different states RG- cpt Shrike vs Chaptermaster Shrike. I'll never understand peoples issue with playing with a dead named character that still has updated rules and an official model. When those characters appear, they just exist up to their death/ change, they don't have to move the story forward more in that instance and thats actually ok. Non playable primarchs doing things on the 40k timeline was great, chaos ones was ominous, potential sightings of loyalist ones exciting (Vulkan, Corax, Russ etc). Them returning as playable in 40k robs both settings, it de-mystifies them both, makes HH less special and they are forced into a leading role that overshadows other named characters who are big fish in the smaller ponds spread across the wider galaxy in 40k. Whats worse, they even rob the gravatis of other major 40k characters who are also a big deal making their debut or returning (Silent King and Vashtor) or other big players (Belekor, other greater named demons, loyalist chapter masters, named CSM characters, Saint Celestine, other important Inquisitors/ ordos members, list goes on). We didn't need returning primarchs to move the story forwards or immortal named characters with models.

Depending where you are in the world, LI and the Old World releases feel like a paper launch because of the stock issues. Also its 4chins, Anon OOP is questionably true and real but more likely.....

I went to a LGS to see this while I was out. The box/ packaging is high quality, its heavy, feels like quality even the price tag. Its just insane they didn't make bespoke mini's for this. I think they should cut the production run, then make the bespoke, unique mini's and re-release this again. Should also have a beast of nurgle and a possesed for a boss fight situation/ scenario.
