Well, not going to quite finish my March vow, but I got one of two kill-teams finished, so 6 legionnaires. The other six will be my vow for April. I, Lord_Ikka, vow to paint for the month of April 6 Word Bearers legionnaires. See previous vow for starting progress pic.

Deathwatch: Murderers in Black (OOC Thread)

I think Moridyn is alright- he's using up 20 Req to keep the plasmagun and I don't think 10 Req is really going to be useful for anything else he needs. -

Moridyn Moridyn took hold of the angry Mantis' arm, an iron grip gently applied. "Calm brother. This xenos is not the architect of our turmoil." Looking at the others in the kill-team, "What it may be is a way to strike at those that betrayed our brothers. For if it speaks true, then killing a single xenos is nothing compared to foiling a scheme of the sons of the Hydra." "Our traitorous cousins are a greater threat than any xenos abomination, for they can worm their way into our institutions and corrupt the souls of humanity. I for one, will agree to go with the Aeldari to determine the truth of this matter."

Moridyn The Star Phantom was quiet, his usual demeanor when among those of other chapters. Aloof and distant, the Phantoms were. Not for them were the boisterous vocalizations of the Space Wolves, or the brutal piety of the Templars. Nor did they even have the barbarous customs of the Mantis or affable nature of the Salamander. They were quiet destroyers, followers of a dour path of death-worship and destruction. So Moridyn kept silent, though his thoughts were racing. It seemed that all of the kill-team believed that this corpse was the real Skaayn, that the Watch-Captain who sent them on this mission a fraud. Moridyn was not certain- the ways of the Inquisition were twisted and crooked, many factions within it hiding secrets and plans from each other. It could indeed be that the Watch-Captain was a fake, an infiltrator of the Dark Powers or a plant by some Xenos mastermind. It was equally likely that this corpse was not the real Skaayn, simply a coincidental member of the Raptors chapter who had been taken as a prize by the Xenos. Or either Raptor could be something else, mysterious pawns in a game played by the Inquisition in their constant intra-faction squabbles. Until they gained further information, speculation was useless. Paranoia was a given whenever you had interactions with the Inquisition. Trust was not something that you gave to those secretive agents of the Imperium. Kill-team Lucifer should be prepared for anything.

If you forget something and the dice have been rolled/you've moved to another phase, you lose it, simple as that. I've forgotten plenty of rules in casual and competitive games- those are mistakes that are on me, and I suffer the consequences for them. That's how I view the game. I'll allow more stuff, like the forgotten charge, if the player is new or it's a really casual game, but overall I expect my opponent to follow the same standards that I do- if you screw up you face the music and learn to do better for your next game. Rarely does one single screwup change the complete outcome of a battle and if it does then you've learned a very valuable lesson. I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten a unit in Deep Strike and they just straight up died because I didn't bring them in by the third turn, or forgot to shoot with my Vindicare assassin because I put him up in a building and simply overlooked him because he winds up hidden even from me. Something like trying to redo an entire attack because someone forgot the re-rolls is just not something that is done- there is too much of a "trying to fish for a better outcome" look to it.

New Balance Dataslate just dropped
Lord_Ikka replied to Cpt_Reaper's topic in + NEWS, RUMORS, AND BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS +

If you're not playing with WTC/ITC/GW tournament levels of terrain, melee armies are going to be at a massive disadvantage. Easiest solution- all terrain counts as Ruins, so it blocks LoS. That way you get some help pushing up the board without getting completely wiped out. In 10th ed, no army should be losing 25% of its points if it is going second- there should be enough obscuring terrain to hide most of an army. I play Knights as my main competition army and the only time I've lost so 25% of my army first turn is either from pushing up to get in range/LoS to fire on the enemy when I go first and then getting hammered by counterfire, or getting locked down by something like World Eaters or Space Wolves being able to push two-three really good 1st turn charges through.

Yeah, there used to only be a single box for Helverins and another for Warglaives- its the reason I have 5 Armigers that are only able to be Warglaives but 3 that are magnetized to be both.

Moridyn Moridyn walked into the storage chambers, sweeping with his shotgun. No enemies, but plenty of odd xenos. He had remained quiet while the others discussed and searched, his mind remaining on possible enemies and targets.

Inquisitor/Inq28/Inquisimunda/etc: Where to Start?
Lord_Ikka replied to Redneck Mario's topic in + OTHER GAMES +
I don't play Inquisitor, but have been around the inq28 community for a while just to enjoy the kitbashing/modeling. Good kits for bits (basic humans) - AoS Cities of Sigmar stuff. The basic troopers, Freeguild Steelhelms and Fusiliers, are good for bodies and weapons that look medival and armored but aren't super distinctive. Necromunda Orlocks upgrade sprue. Great set of weapons that cover a lot of standard Imperial stuff. The actual gang box has nice autoguns/shotguns as well, but might not have the heavier/more bespoke weaponry needed for Inquisitorial types. Genestealer Cult Neophytes. Good basic weaponry (shotguns/autoguns), good bodies that have sci-fi/industrial suits that only require a little knife work to remove cult icons. Various Necromunda gangs. A lot of the gangs are pretty distinct in their weapons/dress, but you can do a lot with them by mixing it up. Delaque have great bodies, trench-coated sneaky-sneaky types that would work for many different applications, while Van Saar work great for high-tech/Xenos-tech using cells. Even Goliaths and Eschers can have their place, roided-up bodyguards and death cult assassins.- 12 replies

Hmm. I have to look over my "plan" for the Smiler, as right now I think I mis-typed some things and need to re-work them. So until next week when I will have the time to re-evaluate, I will refrain from spending XP for Crux'as.

Kill Team Blood and Zeal
Lord_Ikka replied to Zoatibix's topic in + NEWS, RUMORS, AND BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS +
The Imperial Cult Frateris-Militia guys are pretty good. Love that both the Missionaries are re-done versions of old miniatures, and most of the others are nice. Not sure why the death cult assassin has a hood, looks off to me compared to the sleek bodysuit (and the simple masks that older death cult minis had). Khorne guys are ok. I think with some head-swaps they could be a good Necromunda Outcast gang- scavengers who initiate their new recruits by replacing their legs to better adapt to the shifting grounds of the Ash Wastes/Underhive. -

Been playing with the Agents for the past couple of weeks, in low point games (500/750/1000) for the grow league. They have been...alright? At 750 I added a second Agents squad, a Warglaive, and a Navigator, and at 1000pts another Rogue Trader + Breacher squad and 2 Voidsmen. My 750 point game was versus Nids. The Nids list had a Screamer-killer, 20man termagaunt squad, Psychophage, Neuro-tyrant and little bodyguard guys, some barbgaunts, and a Lictor or Death Leaper, can't remember which. The Warglaive took out the Screamer-killer, while the RT/Breacher squad was able to completely decimate the 20-man bug squad due to a combo of Violent Acquisition and Close Quarters Barrage strats. After that it was all mop up, with the Warglaive dying to the psychopage but tying it up long enough to make any further progress nil. 87 - 48 win for the Imperium. The 1k game was vs Votann and a new player of the game. 2 Hearthguard squads, 1 Khal, 1 Champion, 2 Hearthkin squads, unit of bikes, 2 Sagitaars. This game was tough- I've found that while the mortal soldiery of the Agents is ok vs T3/4, anything like Votann or Orks with a default T5 means that I'm not going to be doing much damage and have to focus on trying to accomplish secondaries/holding on to primary as much as possible. This game started ok, with turns 1 and 2 going decently and the Warglaive being able to take out a Sagitar. After the Hearthguard teleported in though, everything went downhill. Those Judgement tokens are brutal when you can hit on 2s and then wound on 2s. I managed to eke out a few extra points, but by the end of round four the only unit left on my side of the table was a half-squad of Agents hiding in their deployment zone. 79 - 90 loss for the Inquisition. Overall, this has been a great army for the grow league. It is full of cool models, fun characters and units with weird abilities, but it is an army that even a newbie can take on and win against. It means that it is pretty much perfect for introducing newer players to the game and giving them a fun time without either stomping them or deliberately playing bad to give them a chance. It is not an army I would ever play in competition, as without using any of the Deathwatch or Grey Knight add-ins I don't think there is much of a chance of someone like me doing well, but it is fun to play.
