About this blog

I have started this journey under a kind of "New Year / New Army" challenge. This was 2+ years ago.

In this BLog I manage al the topics related to this development, rescuing old entries and feeding it with the latest ones. SOmeday I may even have a compelt game with this force! Who knows...

For the moment I hope you will enjoy my modeling and painting progresses.

Moiraxes Part 5 – Finalized models

Hi Folks,   Xmas period is now over and I have managed time between sweet potatoes and turkey in order to complete the assembly of the Moiraxes.   Torso glueing and arms fitting has been a 10 sec job or almost.   The main output expected was answering the key question: “Will my scheme balance the big grey block effect?”. I guess the answer is a “Yes”. Or at least, I am satisfied enough by the results. The bonish quadrant does the job (but I had little doubt about th

Moiraxes Part 4 – Finalizing preassembly and working on Pauldrons

Hi Folks,   So, the challenging step is now how to break the monochrome aspect of the Moiraxes.…   Weapons can bring some interesting changes to a model thanks to colored cables, coils and somehow armor panels. The GW color scheme for the Moiraxes shown on the sites, all bone with red panels on the Laslocker, are a good example. I have decided to do the same for the latter, while the Gyges Claw bearers will get pauldrons with a touch or red. As my stripes attempt was a fail o

Moiraxes Part 3 – Is there a pilot in the Moirax?

Hi Folks,   After painting, assembly and basing of the legs, paint job has continued with the cockpits. It has required some thinking steps before putting the first touch of color. Well not really as black undercoat and metal dry brush did not need that kind of auto reflexive step…   Once metal has been done, the decision making was done by elimination: 1.      Getting the back of the hull as per the one I have done for the Styrix: bronze back. 2.      Keep the Esh

Moiraxes Part 2 – These (mech) legs are made for walking

Hi Folks,   Following pre-building of the legs and carapace, instead of keeping going on with weapons, I have shifted to paint jobs. Starting with the legs.   The idea was getting some progress while not being fully decided about how the carapace and cockpit will be done. My Korvax inspired scheme is rather easy to apply plain Eshin grey with recesses in Administratum grey and highlight with Mechanium Standard grey. But is there some room on the armor panels for some secondar

Moiraxes Part 1 – Boosting Armored Support for AdMech

Hi Folks,   After a long time wondering if I might add a knight to my AdMech as a Freebalde in order to boost my armoured support, I succumbed to the charm of a Styrix knight some times ago.     But the latter, even if it is a nice center piece, tends in some case to be under scoring and with a rather low Return on Investment. I might play it in the wrong way. Or it is a too obvious bullet catcher. Or a single Freeblade is not an optimum set up. Or everything at the sam

Allied Freeblade - Part 5

Hi Folks,   With torso done and legs done, it was only a matter of (little) time for these to part to be united in the holy forges of Mars.     The big boy is now standing, only missing some finiching touches. While heraldry guide for Freeblades (or Dreadblades) leave a lot of room to the pilot to customize its steed, some stuffs can be seen as usual features: - No or low amout Imperium marks - the 2 headed eagle is seldom in general - No household m

Allied Freeblade - Part 4

Hi Folks,   The W.E. (stands for Week-End, not World Eaters), has been calm enough to complete the lower part (a.k.a. legs) of the Styrix. After some tape masking and one or two small corretions, the armoured legs of the Styrix were maked-up in the same combination of Eshin Grey and Wraithbone as the paultrons. Plus some added red stripes, as on the illustration taken as a guiding model. Main difference is that panel colours are inverted in order to fit to the Heraldry guide

Allied Freeblade - Part 3

Hi Folks,   Asmall update as a third installment of this WIP series of posts. The upper part of the Styrix is now close to completion. Paultrons have been painted and I only have left their mounting into place, or rather their glueing as they can be fairly easily be mounted "dry". The wepons, carapace... are alredy assemblied and fixed.   I planned getting this torso unglued to the legs, in order to get transport easier, but it will not happen: the mini is too heavy

Allied Freeblade - Part 2

Hi Folks,   As a second installment of this WIP journey, let´s talk paint scheme a little bit. I planned to use this Freeblade mainly as a boost for my Skitarii. From here comes the selection of the model, based on its look and not on its rules. I wanted something AdMechiest to be integrated into the overall vibe of the force. The Styrix had a better touch to my taste, even if I find its head a little bit disapointing - the Maegara one is better.   While thinking AdMech

Allied Freeblade - Part 1

Stomp Stomp... Styrix incoming...   This big guy was in my plans for a while, and some months passed since I listed its aquisition into the TITH thread (Today´s in the Hobby - See Amicus Aede sub-Forum).   It was high time to strat working on this machine. I initially thought about enlisting it as a Plodding along, but I rather keep this pledge for some kitbashed vehicles waiting to be finished and painted for years (a quarter or 2 before I suscribed to this forum). And havin
